Last Day of 34

Yup tomorrow's my 35th b-day, and thanks to payroll, I will not be taking the day off of work, and even more thanks to 4th of July falling on a f-ing Saturday, I won't even be getting Friday off.

How wrong is that?

So if I'm crabby tomorrow, please forgive me. I think I have a right to be, but I hate to think that because I have a day off everyone's paychecks will get screwed up and I don't want to have that on my conscience. Plus I like to know I have my own paycheck. So I'd rather work tomorrow than not have my paycheck on Friday, since all the banks are closed on Saturday.

It makes perfect sense to me I don't know about you.

Now go out and get me a present!

Too Much To Do

I've got to sort out what I really need to get done today. There's quite a bit and I don't know if I'll be able to do it all.

1. I need to write a review on this really awesome Irish children's album. Must do it tonight.

2. A cleaning project I started over the weekend that I semi-finished over the weekend.

3. A possible trip to the store for shitty cat litter.

4. I'd like to get in a workout because one night this week I need to go to Target for some things for the house.

5. Cleaning of Shitty Cat boxes (how could I forget that?)

If only I could get some of this done quickly, but I doubt that. Exercise is at least an hour and 30 minutes for the store.

~sigh~

Why don't I have a 4 day week? Huh? HUH? HUH!!!

Cat Feathers

I know you are probably looking at those words and thinking, Andrea has lost her mind, but my kitty Mutchka has cat feathers.

See a few weeks ago he jumped on the table without us knowing and spilled a cup of ginger ale and decided to lay down in it.

Two words there "DUMB ASS"

I tried to wipe him clean with a soapy wash cloth but I decided I wanted to keep most of my blood inside me.

I asked a friend who volunteers and fosters animals for a Pittsburgh Shelter what I could do. She's suggested baby wipes. So far its cleaning him up a bit, but I guess until he rips out all the matted fur himself, hence the cat feathers, he's going to look like a nappy cat.

Unless someone volunteers to bathe him. If so I would suggest protective gear. He may be a 15 year old kitty, but he's strong and when pissed, well he's REALLY STRONG!

Nice Day

My brother came home for a visit today for Father's Day and to drop off my B-day present. Yay money! But we had a lovely visit. I passed off some cookbooks to his wife, that mom doesn't need anymore. I rationalized to mom that Southern Living Annuals have "Fancy Schmancy" recipes when we are more an "Easy Peasy" household. So off a bunch of them went! Yay!

We went to River House Cafe in downtown Charleroi On Mon. If you are ever in our fair hamlet, its worth it to stop there for lunch or dinner. I had Chicken Cordon Bleu and it was fantastic, my side was garlic mashed potatoes, which were probably some of the nommy-est potatoes I've had in a long time. Washed it down with a Sam Adams, and I'm a happy girl.

I even managed to get some cleaning done this weekend which really made me happy. A trip or two to Target over the next month and the house will start looking so much better again. That's something I never thought I'd say, at least not in the last few years.

All in all it was a really awesome weekend.

Hot New Fun Country

I fell in love with the band Gloriana a few months ago when I heard their first single Wild At Heart and now there song The Way It Goes has a video.

They are more country pop than real country. Great harmonies and really good voices too.

Take a look at the new video. BTW the blonde in the band is Cheyenne Kimball who had a show on Mtv a few years back. She's much better at country than she is at Rock N' Roll. Go figure.

Top 5 On Friday: Week 228

From Music Memoirs

Top 5 musicians that the years haven't been kind to.

1. Keith Richards: Oye vey! This man should not be alive and he looks like he's been almost dead for a very long time. Children, repeat after me; DRUGS ARE BAD!!!

2. Simon LeBon: Once a hunk...now he's so not! This photo is downright embarrassing. He's the king of yoyo syndrome dieting too

3. Madonna: This once cute slutty singer is now simply a hag, no ifs ands or buts about it.

4.Micky Dolenz: A little paunch and some hair loss and generally not the cute Monkee he once was. He looks more like a dirty old man now.

5. Van Morrison: I can only say, the years hated this man and sob at how pretty he once was.

Sad Day

I might as well chime in on the recent celebrity deaths:

1. Ed MacMahon: No one will forget Johnny Carson's sidekick. Will he be remembered for anything else? Well that remains to be seen. Did he do anything before Carson? Gosh I can't even remember hearing and for my life at least that's all he did.

2. Farrah Fawcett: My brother had the infamous POSTER. I know he's probably at his home in Ohio feeling a little bit sad. She was quite the actress and she had that special something too. I think it was the hair. She fought a brave fight with cancer. She will certainly be missed.

3. Michael (whacko jacko) Jackson: Never was my favorite singer. I owned only a copy of Thriller because it was the thing to have. His death was a total surprise, but in a way, not. How can you not expect someone like him to die young? He went from being a cute black boy into a white man. Plus all the scandals had to add stress. So his passing was a surprise and yet it wasn't. He did produce some wonderful music in his time on earth and for that I hope he'll be remembered more for, than the scandals.

RIP

Yay Books

I had the nicest thing happen to me the other day. I was asking for recommendations for summer reading on a livejournal romance book community and I got a response from a Silhouette Nocturne author asking me if I had read her books and if I had any of her early ones.

She sent me the link to her website and I checked out all the books she had written and then emailed her from her website.

Well guess what?

She offered to send me the 3 books I hadn't read!

Woot!

That was nice and now I have 3 books for my summer reading pile that I didn't know I was going to have. Now to find some time to read them when they get here!

Halfway There!

This is a distinctly, "Yay its Wednesday" post.

Why?

Because this week is turning out to be obnoxious. Not bad, mind you, OB-Freaking-NOXIOUS!

There's a little too much togetherness in some parts of my life right now and I can't stand it. Its getting oppressive.

Its also making part of my day drag.

So when Friday comes around this week I'll be very happy in some ways, in some ways I won't be. I mean there's one more week until my 35th b-day and since I doubt I'm going to get showered with too many gifts this year, I don't really care. However if you want to buy me a little cheap something off my Amazon Wishlist, who am I to stop you!

Let's just hope the rest of the week goes by quickly, m'kay?

I Can't Believe I Didn't Know

I was trolling around Amazon the other day when I found this in the New Releases section! A new Cheap Trick CD

I'm trying to figure out how I didn't know this one was coming out, considering there are some albums I've known were coming out for months. Wish I had known too because I would have preordered that one over on CD that I just bought.

I have more loyalty to Cheap Trick than the Chess Musical.

Grrrr. Now I have to wait for my birthday possibly, because there's no extra play money this month. Everything has somewhere to go for the next 3 months actually and I have to dip into my savings to pay for my stupid medical bills. Stupid crap insurance that I can barely afford but need.

I'd rather have a new CD than deal with a damn doctor and their costs anyday.

Things That Annoy

Yes, its time for another exciting episode of "Things That Annoy"

~ There's never enough room in closets/dressers for the laundry even though these clothes came from those same places.

~ The car always needs gas when I have the least amount of money.

~ When you want to use the elliptical at the gym every one but the two in front of the windows will be in use.

~ Some 90 lbs skinny bitch will always be on the AB machines.

~ One beer will makes me a weepy drunk. ONE FREAKING CORONA!!!!!

~ There's never enough time to read all the books that are piling up in my house.

~ No concerts that I can afford coming to the city when I can see them.

~ Bernie the 91 Chevy Beretta simply for existing or not ceasing to exist

~ A certain computer I use that operates on windows 98 and only has a dial up connection. Ya know that piece o' poo isn't in my house. Growls.

~ The waistline that is resisting all the exercise I've been doing.

There's Never Enough Time

Every weekend I have these huge hopes of things I'm going to get done and every weekend I fall flat of my goals.

BAH!

I get little things done but never what I really want to get done. But its never enough. Never.

Its just not fair.

There's so much cleaning I want to do. What did I get done? 3 loads of laundry! I hate laundry. Laundry is the bane of my existence.

The sad part is I spent so much time just moping and crying because the whole priest situation has me in a turmoil. Most of you may not guess it by my usual entries, but I love my Catholic faith. I don't shove it down anyone's throat. I just exist and now everything feels like its crumbling.

I had a Corona today and I swear it made me a weepy drunk because I hadn't cried before and now I'm crying for Father D. and my Gram and I just feel a mess and I'm not getting things done and I can't string a coherent sentence together.

ARGH!

Perhaps if I would have just stayed in bed, I'd be in better shape!

I Feel Better...Angry But Better

I sent a short note out to our priest.

See you may think I was accusing in my last post, but I'm really shell shocked. Yes, they are allegations and in this country you are supposed to be innocent until proven guilty but our media won't let that happen.

I can't believe this is true. I've known this man for 17 years. I was just 17 at the time I met him. He was nothing but what a priest should be and I truly can't believe he's ever not been.

I sent him a letter telling him that he was my favorite priest and above all that I considered him my friend.

And I do.

I love him dearly and I hate these accusations that are making me question my trust and my love for him. He's a good man. I know that.

I'm just glad I know where they have him hiding.

An Open Letter To My Parish Priest

Father, this week you were accused of the most unspeakable thing a priest could do. My heart is broken right now. You have been a friend for over 17 years to myself and my family. We love you. We trust you. And now this.

You've shared so much laughter and tears with all of us. Your pain was ours and vice/versa.

I feel betrayed. I feel angry. I feel pity for you, because you've been accused and damned already without a trial.

I want to believe that you couldn't have done this.

I want to be believe that the man I know, that comforted my family and myself in our time of need, couldn't have done this.

I want to forgive you for something that I truly believe is unforgivable and yet I don't know if there's anything yet to forgive. My heart wants to defend you and shield you from what's being shouted from the media.

My heart aches for both you and the victim and their family. My heart aches for my parish. But most of all my heart aches for myself, because I don't know if I can feel comfortable calling myself a Catholic anymore.

Why, Father? Why?

Please let these allegations be false, I want to believe you are the man I've known and loved all these years.

I love you so much Father....why you? My favorite priest in the whole world.

I'm praying for you now to be strong. I'm just praying...and I hope someone will listen.

Top 5 On Friday: Week 227

From Music Memoirs

Top 5 songs you'd be happy to never hear again.

1. Taylor Swift - Love Story: I like Taylor, she's a talented young woman. I used to think Should've Said No was terribly overplayed, but this song trumps that. I have the radio on at work and I hear it at least 5 times a day! Crikey! Make it go away. It was a good song for the first 500 times!

2. B.J. Thomas - Hooked On A Feeling: ARGH! This song is one of the reasons I can't listen to The Pickle anymore.

3. Tom Jones - She's A Lady: Tom has done so many songs that are borderline obnoxious, this is one that crosses the line totally. Not to worry Sex Bomb still rocks my world.

4. Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl: Horrid song that needs to go away and it should take Katy with it. PLEASE!

5. Shania Twain - That Don't Impress Me Much: Never cared for her music. Sure she's pretty, I can't fault her that but her music gets on my nerves and this song was and still is all over the radio. Blergh!

Stuff

My part of Washington County didn't get hit as hard by the thunderstorms that would never end last night, however I didn't get much sleep. There is too much going on right now for my brain to calm down.

There are things going on in my parish that break my heart and at the same time make me want to hurt people and question organized religion, which is sad because until this week, I've been going to mass every week since Palm Sunday. This week I couldn't sit in the same room with some of these people.

I'm really just angry right now with the whole world and I can't really talk about what's going on, mostly because we don't know. All I know is that this has totally robbed me of my piece of mind and most of my faith in humanity.

I'm sad.

My heart is broken.

And I may never see one of my favorite people ever again and that is killing me and filling me with a rage so strong that I can't begin to describe it.

More Rants

I'd like to tell the governor of my fine state to go f himself right now. Obama just gave us a cut in my federal taxes. I needed that. PA's wonderful governor is about to take that away.

Thanks a whole lot.

He apparently doesn't pay my bills.

He isn't struggling to see where the $600 for medical bills is going to come from. He says the median income in PA is around $50,000. Yay for those that make that. I don't. I make less than half of that.

So Mr. Governor, do you know where you can take your tax-hike and shove it?

I just spent yesterday trying to sort out my finances, realizing that there's no way I can do a road trip that involves a hotel stay this year. He blames wall street. Well I have to say everything isn't wall streets problem. Yes, the economy took a hit and still is, so we're going to penalize everyone for the mismanagement of things by both private and public sectors.

Yes, Mr. Governor make sure that the rich get richer and the poor get dug into a deep whole they can't get out of.

I flip you the bird, and I'll be glad when your butt is out of Harrisburg.

A Day Of Rants

Why is it that people take it personally if you don't like or think the same bands they listen to are the most awesome in the world?

I love Elvis Costello and The Moody Blues and a whole host of other artists. I openly admit to saying I can't freaking stand Green Day, though one or two of their songs manage to burn themselves into my brain when I turn the wrong radio stations on. I like Torchwood, but there is something about John Barrowman that irks me to high even, and when he sings pop music I really want to run screaming for the hills.

When I say this I'm not saying well, you have shit taste in music. I may be thinking it but I won't say it or type it at you, unless you really get on my nerves.

Music is personal and we all like things for different reasons. I like some country music, other people won't even give some of it a shot. It was by accident that I even started liking some of the country music that I do like, like Lady Antebellum that is more rock oriented than true country. But that's neither here nor there.

Someone posted something on my music website that really got up my nose yesterday. I posted a discussion thread on 5 of the most popular music releases for the month of May and this person, who is an online friend left this remark under Green Day, now mind you, I left no remarks about their new album as they aren't the kind of music I like. When I listen to punk I want it to be the stuff from the 70s when it was a bit edgier.

But this was left under the discussion thread there

"I know certain people *coughcough* aren't fans of GD, but I am."

Yippee skippy you like GD. Thrillsville. Write what you think and shut your trap before I go apeshit on your whiny emo ass.

If I didn't get $689 in medical bills plus $92 home owners insurance bill yesterday maybe I wouldn't be annoyed, but with that thrown on my doorstep everything is really pissing me off.

Aggravation

I finally got my bills for my colposcopy that I had done on April 7. My insurance paid some of it, but all in all I'm stuck with $575 now. Plus I'm waiting to see if my insurance is going to cover part of an office visit for something else. If that's not covered tack on another $115

Uh, President Obama will you please explain to some whacknuts out there that the health care system is BROKE. Why? I shouldn't have to pay $154 for insurance that doesn't really cover much plus has a high deductible. If I had the cash on hand I would be going to the doctor's. But right now I feel like I'm paying that and more. It just doesn't seem quite right.

The whole country can't work for companies that pay for health insurance. If they did, chances are there would be no small businesses hiring and the country needs small businesses.

So just when I thought I was about to crawl out from the debt medical monkey, It grabs me and pulls me back in.

Yay!

NOT!

And I have another Pap next month as a follow up from the colp in April. More fucking bills. It sucks to be a woman sometimes.

Beautiful Roses

I went to the Renziehausen Rose Garden yesterday and oh were the roses beautiful. I got to use my new Nikon for the first time for things other than, well the cats and a few flower pictures from my garden.

Check out the set here.

There's nothing nicer than a walk through a flower garden to calm the nerves and brighten the day. Its a shame I can't go back today, because in the first 3 hours I've been awake things have been a bit topsy turvy.

Enjoy the pictures!

Way To Go Pens

I guess there will be a lot of calamari served up in Detroit in the coming days, since the Pittsburgh Penguins denied the Red Wings their Stanley Cup.

Awwww. I feel no pity. In fact, being a girl that watched them win their first Stanley Cup in 1992, when I was in my senior year of high school, I felt a great amount of joy that Lord Stanley was coming back to Pittsburgh.

I watched Mario Lemieux as he struggled to answer whether is was more satisfying to win the cup as a player or as an owner. He really seemed to want to say, "As a player" but he's much too much of a gentlemen these days to do that. Lordy but he's still one handsome guy and considering he lives in the Burgh most of the time and has for the last 20 some years, he still has that french-canadian accent that makes me sigh.

I'm proud of the boys and glad they could bring the cup home in the same season that the Steelers won their 6th Super Bowl.

Congrats Pens!

Top 5 On Friday: Week 336

From Music Memoirs

Top 5 voices that are like fingernails on a chalkboard to you

1. Sheryl Crow: There's something about her voice that really unnerves me. I can not stand her voice.

2. Whitney Houston: There was a time when I loved her. That's been long gone. Ever since she recorded I Will Always Love You, Whitney's voice and I just don't go together. In fact, when I hear anything other than her early singles, I run from the room!

3. Celine Dion: This woman's voice makes me want to hurl and if I have to watch her skinny butt beat her chest while she sings like some cavewoman, well I might poke my eyes out as well as going all Van Gogh.

4. Miley Cyrus: Please tell this Disney tartlet her voice is awful and not awesome. Geeze, kids will really listen to anything.

5. Billy Corgan: I've never been able to get into the Pumpkins because Billy's voice drives me up a wall and then a tree! Don't know what it is, but whenever I hear them I immediately shut the radio or TV OFF!

Giving It One More Try

I started back at the gym last night. I let my membership expire, actually fussed about it a month ago, but nothing is working for me at home on the getting in shape area, unless the shape I'm getting into is round, and I don't want to be round! And who really wants to be round.

So I spent about 50 minutes getting reacquainted with some of the old torture devices, and I've come to the conclusion, the elliptical machine is going to be hell for awhile, but I really need to get started again before I really start expanding and that is not a good thing.

So its off to the gym I go.

I've just got to figure out what a good mix of cardio and strength training will start the weight moving from my butt!

Oye!

This is not going to be fun. Nope not at all.

Insane Prices

Once again I got my morning email from Endless.com and once again my eyeballs popped out at the price of some of the shoes on that site.

Todays ad was for sandals! I love pretty sandals but where I work, I'm pretty much confined to servicable shoes of the sneaker variety or my Crocs flip flops. But I had to look at the selection and oh were the shoes pretty.

Hey I'm a girl. I like shoes!

Then I looked at the prices!

Holy crap!

There were several pairs that weren't even what I'd call cute priced nead $125! There was a gorgeous pair of Hush Puppies but the price on that pair was $75! For freaking sandals? That's insane!

Now I've paid that price for a good pair of walking shoes and even for a pair of heels once or twice when I worked in a more public occupation, but never for sandals. I'd have to wear them everyday for a year to make them worth that price, and from the looks of a few of those pairs of shoes, they wouldn't last that long.

Hump Day Hunk

I haven't had a hump day hunk picture in a long while, so I think it's time. After all some of us need some drooling material.

My first hunk is Phillip Glenister from Ashes To Ashes and Life On Mars. He plays the rather chauvinistic Gene Hunt, who may come off as a bit of a prick for lack of a better word, is pretty darn sexy.

So the guys don't complain too much, I decided to use Lady Antebellum as my next batch of hunks. So they get a hunkette in the form of Hillary Scott. I'll drool on the boys, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood if you don't mind

Happy hump day!

Read This Book!

Elsewhere Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
There are so few books that I can literally not put down but this tale of the afterlife and reincarnation was definitely one that I couldn't let go of.

Liz wakes up one morning in a strange bet on the S.S. Nile which delivers her to Elsewhere. Elsewhere is the place Gabrielle Zevin has created for souls to go when they leave this earth.

On the S.S. Nile she encounters several people that will shaper her afterlife, among them is former rocker Curtis Jest. When she arrives in Elsewhere she's greeted by the grandmother she never knew, who looks to be the same age as her mom Olivia, but who died at 50 of breast cancer.

Why does she look so young?

In Elsewhere you age backwards, until you are 7 days old and then you are released back to earth to start a new life.

Elsewhere deals with Liz's struggles to deal with her own death and loss as well as acceptance of life on Elsewhere.

Zevin writes for young adults but anyone who reads this is bound to find Lizzie's story uplifting.

The book's message is such a simple one...live your life and your death to the fullest.

Go seek out this book now, you won't regret it.

Things You Don't Mind Spending Money On

Sometimes spending money on something can bring a smile to your face. There are a few things that definitely make purchasing something worthwhile. Here are the things that make me happy to part with my cash.

1. A good book. I always find that an entertaining read is money well spent. I just recently bought called Elsewhere which was totally wonderful. I spent more money on this book than I like to spend, but it was such a delight to read that I don't begrudge the expense anymore.

2. A good meal. If the food is good, the cost doesn't matter. Granted I'm not one to spend $50 on a meal, but I like good food, its one of the joys of life. Anytime a meal out is fully enjoyed is money well spent.

3. A good movie. I don't mean a DVD because in my household its hard to watch anything uninterrupted. What's money well spent is an afternoon or even at the movies with a big tub of buttery popcorn and an ice cold Coke. That my friends is usually worth every penny.

Todays Rant Brought To You By

Bilbo was joining in on the National Health Care debate.

Allow me to toss my 2 cents into the ring.

I work for a small construction company. My salary puts me at poverty level, but its a job close to home and it pays the bills. One of those bills just happens to be my own health insurance, which right now costs me $153.55 a month, with a deductible of $1250.00

This is the first year in over 10 years that I've had health insurance and I've spent a few grand on bull shit. You know like those papers that the doctor needs to fill out so that the Insurance company can determine if you have a preexisting condition. And those forms cost $10 on top of what the insurance company decides not to pay.

So I'm happy if you have a nice health care plan that your place of employment pays for or pays for partially. Good for you.

I don't.

I also don't make enough money to pay for the kind of health care that would really allow me to be worry free. To have the good health care plan I'd have to sacrifice half my monthly pay.

How many of you can afford that?

I can't.

So when asked if I think the health care system in the US is broke, I say YES. When asked if I think National Health Care would work, I say YES. Its worked in other countries. How we're going to pay for it now, that is another question. But something HAS to be done.

I won't even go into my rant on the wife of one of my co-workers who has uterine cancer and has to find out how to pay for her surgery because she doesn't have health insurance.

Think about that people. Think about the people that are your neighbors possibly, or someone's mother that isn't old enough for medicare but still doesn't have insurance, with cancer that can't afford to have it taken care of.

Think about that, when you say our system isn't broke.

I'm So Freaking Angry Right Now

I was shifting the cushions on my couch, you know the one I just bought back in February when my dad got out of the hospital and there's a tear in the fabric inside the couch. Its nowhere where anyone could see it, but I know its there. The stuffing is poking out.

I don't know if something snagged it the few times the sofa bed was opened or what happened. Its not even in a place where I'd lay blame on the cats, because they don't go under the furniture. They prefer to be on it.

I just can't believe this. We haven't even had the couch for 6 months and I spent $500 for it! My brother paid for the new chair.

I want to scream right now.

That was my whole tax return.

I could cry.

No, I am crying.

Why does everything get ruined? WHY! WHY! WHY@

Nothing To Do Today

Its amazing that this weekend is one where I can actually be lazy and I have every intention of taking advantage of that.

I'm going to catch up on some reading and possibly some writing and maybe even some picture taking. Anything but grocery shopping if I can help it. Or any other obnoxious task.

I plan to ignore the laundry until it comes and taps me on the shoulder begging to be done.

If I do any cleaning it will be because I want to, not because I need to.

I may even watch a DVD or two.

If I'm lucky though, I'll just sit in the sun and enjoy the finally good weather that arrived overnight. (It was about damn time it arrived too)

Now if you don't mind, I have a whole lot of nothing to attend to.

Top 5 On Friday: Week 225

From Music Memoirs

Top 5 albums that make the weekend a little bit better!

Elvis Costello - Secret Profane and Sugarcane: Its Elvis and though its not his best work, its still pretty damn good, but almost all EC albums fall into that category, but with this one just coming out, its definitely going to make this weekend much better.

Making April - The Egg Hunt: A new band I discovered this year and I adore this album. No, they aren't in the big time yet, but they are definitely worth listening too.

Judd Starr - Spirit & Skin: This album is a one of my favorites from last year. Judd has a gorgeous voice, writes great songs and is a super nice guy on top of it. I urge you all to go to Amazon and check out one or two of his songs, especially Please Penny.

Nick Lowe - Quite Please: His new 2 disc best of which rocks my world, just like Nick does. Why this album? Because its so hard to pick and choose because his albums are all so good! This best of is truly a great best of.

Gordon Lightfoot - Summertime Dream: This man is a brilliant songwriter and this is one of his greatest albums in my opinion. It also has 2 of my favorite Lightfoot songs, Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald and Race Among The Ruins

I've done the math

Firstly, let me say I freaking hate doing math. But there was a bit of a financial crisis that got me really stirred up.

I make squat for money. That's neither here nor there. I'm not always certain of getting my 40 hours. But before April 26, 2008, I had my budget sorted that I would have enough to have most of my debt paid off. I figured in that I would buy stuff and use my credit card, because the time stuff is needed and payday don't always coincide.

I however didn't expect 10% of my salary going for every day bills on a house that I don't live in, ever want to live in, or could afford to live in. (unless I was cohabitating)

That 10% does not include the $323 that went to pay inheritence tax. Plus the other property taxes which come to about $650 a year..and then there's the Sewage and Garbage bills. (And I don't even put out garbage at that address)

And people wonder why there's no extra money for a car or car payment right now.

Oye.

I'm so mad and frustrated...and frankly this rant is brought to you by Medco Health, the pharmacy that fucked me over and caused my checking account to overdraft yesterday, for an error on their part, not mine. But that's a totally different rant.

As Simon Le Bon said..."Big Fuck Off World!"

The Other Day...

I was down at my grandmother's house, well its my house, but you understand that to me it will never be that, its grandma's house always. I looked around. Most of the furniture is in place and so are some of the things that always were there, but the stuff from the drawer old books and papers and all those greeting cards, are scattered throughout the dining room and kitchen.

It just made me wonder.

Is this all that's left of her wonderful life? There's barely a trace of her left, except her old ratty sweatshirt coat, you know something kinda like a hoodie but not, and an umbrella.

The house still smells like grandma if that makes sense, but the important part of it, grandma, is not there and that makes it just a house. A house that I neither want or need in my life. The house that's keeping me from the car that I would have had the money for a downpayment on if I weren't shelling out the part of my savings to pay for homeowners insurance and the utilities that we're still keeping on...plus the taxes and other things that just eat up ever extra cent I have.

Oye!

And I can remember times when gram said to me that we'd be better off if she were gone. I know that it was the ramblings of a 101 year old lady that knew her life was winding down, but gram, no! Life rolled on so much nicer when you were there to talk to, to help when we needed. When that house across the street was your house and not just a house.

Not In The Mood

This is one of those days when I feel so blerghy that I just don't want to do anything and that includes going to work.

Of course I'm going to work. I need the money. Stuff to buy. Stuff to do.

Mostly just stuff to do, and like always I don't really want to do it.

What I really want to do is kick back and read especially since I have so many books on my shelves to read right now.

~sigh~

But life won't allow it, at least not until 4 o'clock.

Tuesday Tunes: Week 84

From Music Memoirs

1. What's your favorite song to blare in your car?
There's actually two songs, one is an old favorite, Oingo Boingo's Insanity. That song has always been able to cure road rage. Sure its a little dark and creepy but that's what makes it work. Listen and watch here.

A current favorite is by Sugarland. Yes, I love a country song, so what, It Happens. You can listen to that one here. Jennifer Nettles is 100 different kinds of awesome.

2.How do you listen to music in your vehicle?
Sadly I can only listen via CD or radio. My car is too old to be able to hook my mp3 player up through an adapter. Sadly most of the time I just listen to BOB.FM or WSHH.

3. If you were going on a long journey, what music would you take with you?
I usually take most of my favorite artist and songs on several mix CDs. Its easier that way and I don't feel like I've left some song or artist I love at home. Its funny if I'm going on a roadtrip I always act like I may never hear my favorite music again.

Such an odd day

Not today, yesterday. Besides having the awesome food coma, I did some cleaning and found some things I've been looking for, for a very long time. I found the brand new Mr. Coffee, 4 cup maker my mom got for Christmas a few years back, buried in her bedroom. (Thanks Michael) I also found a doll I bought for my friend Jennifer's daughter, that I've been looking for now for over a year.

Jenn, you better come for a visit soon, before it gets lost again!!!

I did an extra load of laundry yesterday so that Michael could have his Dairy Queen shirt when he goes in today. Why do I do the kid's laundry? He's not mine! My sister has a washing machine! He's 17 too.

Oye!

The boy will cut the lawn but he can't wash clothes.

Another one of life's mysteries.

Go figure.

At least I've found the stuff he's hidden. Woot!

See Michael is a neat freak but he doesn't clean, really, he straightens or hides stuff and the stuff he hides is the stuff we are always looking for.

This is reason #481 why I like making messes.

It Was A Nommy Day

I took my dad to TGIFridays for dinner today and I had the new BBQ Chicken Cobb Salad, and OMG it was so very good. I love salads but few of them are so good that I don't leave a single leaf on the plate, but this was definitely one of them.

If that wasn't enough, when I went to Giant Eagle to do the grocery shopping for part of the week they had macaroons in the bakery! Fresh MACAROONS!!

OMG OMNOMNOMNOM!

I'm officially in a happy food coma.

It doesn't get much better than this.

Really, the only thing that could have made the day more nommy would be for a tiramisu to show up in my fridge! A homemade tiramisu that is, and since I don't know anyone that makes them, well I'll be content with what I've got.

I'm So Embarrassed

I really want this album. Mitchel is that one Disney kid that I can't help but love. If I were 13, his picture would be on my wall. The Jonas Bros would not.

In fact, as far as the other performers on Hannah Montana go, I think he's just as good as ole Billy Ray. Miley, I can't take. She's a half assed actress and her singing is so so. I'm not saying Mitchel is a phenomenal talent, but at least he's sticking to the pop genre and so far not going on about purity rings etc. Please, just be a nice normal teenager.

But if you don't believe me, try his new earworm on for size. Check out the video for Hey.

Why didn't they make teenage boys this cute when I was in high school? Seriously, I had New Kids On The Block. Blech! Its just not fair! I demand a do over of my teenybopper years. I demand better pop stars!

Top 5 On Friday: Week 224

From Music Memoirs:

Top 5 songs that make you happy to be alive

1. Erasure - Don't Say You're Love Is Killing Me: Just listening to this song makes me want to get up and bounce around. God bless Andy Bell's cotton socks.

2. Mitchel Musso - The In Crowd: Mitchel has given me faith in some of the Disney poptarts. If I were 13 years old, I'd want him to be my boyfriend. He's so damn cute and I think he can actually sing. I will be buying his album.

3. Caitlin Crosby - Still Have My Heart: This song is so catchy and she has CHUCK in her video.

4. Elvis Costello - Man Out Of Time: Oddly a slow song but one that always gets me singing at the top of my lungs. This song was so inspirational for me at one time.

5. Keri Noble - Watch Me Walk: Such an empowering song and one of my favorite songs in the whole world. My life would be so blech without this one

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen things I plan to do this summer

1. Get more reading done. I'd like to read a few more of Gregory Maguire's books particularly the other two Wizard of Oz books.

2. Get to Idlewild and Kennywood at least once.

3. Use my new camera on a regular basis.

4. Get to Phipps Conservatory to see the Longfellow sculptures.

5. Go to Books-A-Million and a few other places in Wheeling.

6. Go to the Meadows Casino I dream of winning enough for a down payment on that Ford Focus! (At the rate I've been going, there's no money to put into savings, thanks to having bills for both myself and then my grandmother's house. What I have extra usually = a book or a CD, and thank you very much. I want a little joy each month.

7. Have a look @ the new Tangier Outlets in Washington, PA. They've been open almost a year, and I still haven't gone.

8. Take a weekend roadtrip somewhere. I don't really care where it is as long as its not my little hamlet of Charleroi on Mon.

9. See the Wild Things play a home game one Friday night when they also have fireworks!

10. Walk more (assuming it ever stops raining)

11. See at least two movies. Preferrably Up! and The Boat That Rocked.

12. Catch Deni Bonet in Oglebay in August!

13. Go to the Fayette County Fair!

It Just Dawned On Me

As I was cleaning yesterday, that I've never read all the Harry Potter books. Nope, in face I totally missed out on book 5 and then 7. WTF! This is why I try not to get too involved in books that become huge series, you know, like The Vampire Chronicles, which I read most of, but not all

The simple fact is that most books like this can't hold my interest that long. I mean that's several thousand pages of the same characters and you can't read them out of order, which I apparently did, because I know I read book six. Plus I always end up picking up on something long after everyone else does, so those thousands of pages, I end up reading in order!

OYE!

So that means if I buy the two books I need I'm going to have to spend a lot of time re-reading the damn books so I can figure out what the hell is going on.

ARGH!

So I don't know what the hell to do about that. Buy the two books I'm missing or just forget about it, like I have until now, and move on.

Tuesday Tunes: Week 83

From Music Memoirs

Pick one artist you like: Duran Duran
1. The first song you heard by this band I have to say it had to be Rio, lets just say a love affair wasn't born then. It took about 10 years before I started my love affair with this whacked out 80s band.
2. Your favorite song by this band. Ordinary World from The Wedding Album.
3. One song you can't stand by this band Just a song? I'll top that, the whole Red Carpet Massacre album, which was a huge waste of $15.00.

Tuesday Morning Already?

Man oh man, the holiday is over already? I have no desire to go back to work today, but like just about everyone else (who hasn't lost their job or is retired) its hi ho hi ho, its off to work I go.

Blech!

The problem is, the next day in the grand scheme of having days off isn't until July 4th and that falls on a Sunday. Now I know the gov't will celebrate on the Monday, but I'm just not sure the place where I work will.

See we're a small operation in the grand scheme of things and what the rest of the world does, well, I can't be sure, we do.

~big sigh~

I just fear that I won't be getting a day off until labor day now and that makes me very very tired.

Its much like my having a week's vacation, right now with the way things have been I'm almost...no, I am scared to ask about it.

~bigger sigh~

Let's just hope that's not the case, OK.

I Can't Believe It

My mother has tons of Ideals Magazines around the house. I've been finding them all over the place since I've been cleaning lately and its making me nuttier than I usually am. (And we all know that's pretty nutty)

What totally surprised me is that they still publish this magazine.

Its full of weird poetry and inspirational stories.

Its a good thing my mother doesn't know this, because there would be a couple hundred bazillion more laying around my house.

So its our little secret, ok?

What A Lovely Day

I didn't spend any money, except on food at Rock Bottom Brewery where I had the spiciest jambalaya and a bread and cheese appetizer that were both to die for and some great pale ale. It was a meal fit for a queen!

Then we browsed Barnes and Noble, where I made a list of books I want to read. There are 14 books on that list. So now I'm going to have to see if any of them are available on my Book Of The Month Club, cos you know I need more books, like I need a hole in my head!

I think I sniffed all the fragrances in Bath and Body Works and tried a wonderful hand cream. If only I could get stuff like that in my regular routine, but lotions and what not are just something I just can't work into day to day life.

It was a day with a good friend, some good food and a lot of laughs! I wish I had more of these. I enjoyed every minute of it, even when it was pouring down rain.

I Can't Believe I Got Shit Done!

It's 8 o'clock and I've done laundry, some cleaning, paid some bills and even took a walk.

Considering my lazy bug always bites me on Saturday morning this is quite an accomplishment.

I still have so much to do and so little time to do it. I need to start going through old clothes again, a task I truly hate doing.

But I've made a start and that's good, right? RIGHT!!!

Now if I can do a few things tomorrow I'll be really happy. I've found cheap camera at Best Buy that fits what I'm looking for, so I can have a camera with me all the time.

I have to say that one of the things on my to do list for tomorrow is to chill out on the couch and watch a movie. Not a bad idea in the evening when everyone is gone for the day.

Now if you don't mind....stuff to do..stuff to do..

Top 5 On Friday: Week 223

From Music Memoirs

Top 5 artists/albums/songs etc that you wouldn't have known if not for a friend. (This can be a combination of all three if you'd like)

A lot of the music I like now, I discovered through my friend Tina back when we were in high school.

Erasure - She loaned me a copy of the band's first album Wonderland, and she never got it back!

The Smiths/Morrissey: Yup she introduced me to them too. She's the depressed one though. She's still a huge fan, I'm not as into him as I once was.

Siouxsie and the Banshees: What would I do without Siouxsie? One of my favorite 80s chickees! Again discovered through Tina.

Peter Murphy: Another goth guy that I got into during the 90s as a result of Tina

Oingo Boingo: These guys came into my life through a boyfriend that was totally obsessed with Mr. Elfman. Mostly because at 17 he was a dead ringer for the guy. Oingo was the only thing I got out of that relationship. Fuck, I didn't even get to the prom.

Triggers

Some people have triggers for anxiety issues, I have them for tears, at least where my grandmother is concerned.

Yesterday I went to get my summer hair. Yes, I cut the longer locks off. I hate long hair in the summer. I prefer my pixie cut but that's beside the point.

Two of the hair stylists were talking about an 88 year old woman that was still living in her house on her own. I sat there as my stylist snipped away, thinking that gram lived in her house on her own til the day she passed at 101 years of age.

I wanted to say something but didn't because I didn't want to have to start talking about gram. Until they mentioned their Emma.

I always find it funny when someone called her that. I swear only the ladies at the salon did. Everyone else called her grandma or Mrs. Rehula. In nearly 35 years, I never heard my gram called her first name alone. Relatives may have called her aunt Emma, but never just Emma.

I forced the tears back as they asked me how long its been since she passed, even though I wanted to scream that its been nearly 1 year and a month.

My gram was a special lady and I don't think I'll ever get over not having her around.

A Dog Called Christmas

A Dog Named Christmas A Dog Named Christmas by Greg Kincaid

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Dog Named Christmas is one of those books that you know before you even start reading it, that by the time you reach the final page you'll be sniffling.

At least this book makes the tears happy ones. Unlike Marley and Me that has you sobbing at the end, because that was a memoir of a dog. This is a novel about how one dog changed the lives of a family that took him in for a shelter project at Christmas.

The characters are all very real and lovable though you'll be hard pressed not to want to pop, dad, George in the head many times throughout the story, but then again, he was only portrayed the way so many fathers would be in similar situation.

It was a short quick read that was definitely worth the time and a truly heartwarming story that expressed how an animal can change your life and how many animals are in shelters waiting for the family whose life they can change.
View all my reviews.

Its Gardening Time

I just spent another $20 on flowers for our yard. I think its safe to start putting the plants in. I really hope we don't have any more nights down in the 30s. Its getting old, very old. I'm sick of cold.

I bought some marigolds, a Lantana, zinnia and some sweet williams for the yard. I'm still not done shopping for plants though.

I can never be done, really. You can never have too many flowers. Well at least I can't.

I'm hoping that tonight I'll have some time to get the plants I bought put in. It will be good to see the yard with some color, other than the pansies.

I like color as you can imagine. I love purples and yellows and pinks and reds. When the garden is all brown I get sad.

So tonight if I don't have too many bazillion things to do when I get home, I'll be in my garden tonight communing with all my flowers and hopefully destressing just a little bit.

1 Thing Not To Do

Never start a huge cleaning project when you only have 4 hours to complete it. I was doing some work in my parent's bedroom and I had to be done by 10 o'clock.

Oye!

That was painful. And let me tell you, we got rid of loads of stuff, while unearthing more interesting stuff that we didn't know existed, or at least didn't remember existed.

I was working in that room until 10 and then until 11 cleaning up the residual mess that always occurs when you do a big de-junking.

The only plus I had last night was in surrounding myself with all the stuffed animals I found in the old crib that we finally got rid of. They kept me very very warm last night.

I don't care if I'm soon to be 35. I like my stuffed animals! Especially when its so flipping cold that the icicles have icicles.

I think when the time go nearer to 10 I was actually sitting on the floor crying because I knew this job would end up being extended into the next few days and I hate not being able to finish things on the first try.

Ah well there's much work ahead of me and I'm not going to like it.

I Feel Awesome

I told you about the two comments I had on my reviews this past week. Well, woot! I logged into my Myspace account and found another email from the band Down By Avalon. Now mind you, Down By Avalon is a band I discovered on my own through an awesome site called Reverbnation.

Its just so cool to receive recognition for something like this.

See deep down I've always wanted to be a writer, though this isn't quite the form of writing I ever expected to be doing. I really would prefer to write stories, but somewhere along the way all my inspiration for that kind of writing was killed.

But I guess it doesn't really matter though, because I have found something that I'm apparently good at and that I enjoy doing. (Plus it helps out artists that aren't signed to major labels too) So its all good.

If you want to check out my review of Down By Avalon and some awesome music by the band just go to here.

I'm Ready To Open A Can Of Whoopass!

Ok, my old gym is still taking money from me even though my contract ended in March. I opened the bill from the Cemetery Association for the estate planning I'm taking care of for my family and somewhere either a payment didn't get applied or I forgot during my father's illness and ARGH!

I'm just sick sick sick of all this bullshit.

My question is why wasn't it on any of my other bills about the missed payment?

Grrrr.

That's just sucked all the energy out of me for the day, because I'm totally consumed with being so freaking mad that I could spit.

Just once I'd like some of this shit to happen during the week, when I could actually call someone and get things taken care of without having to wait and wait til Monday.

Just a few more hours of seething rage to deal with. If you need me, I'll be under a rock, trying to keep myself under control

I'm So Excited

As you guys know, I do some freelance music reviews in my spare time, some for pay, some for the love of unsigned artists. Well this morning I had two really lovely thank yous from two of the artists I've reviewed in the past few weeks, The Beloved Infidel's who come from the Philadelphia area and Nicholas Howard.

Want to read what I wrote?

Nicholas Howard's review is here.

The Beloved Infidels' review is here.

If you like these artists, support them and buy their music. Its the only way the music industry is going to changed. Give the indie artists a fighting chance at a career.

Lord knows the airwaves are flooded with enough crap from all the Idol shows.

Top 5 On Friday: Week 222

From Music Memoirs:

Top 5 "Unique" voices

1. Elvis Costello: His is a voice you either love or hate. Its certainly not a pretty voice but it is one that I've always loved for some reason or another.

2. Tom Petty: There are times when this Florida rocker sounds a little too much like Dylan, however if not for songs like Don't Come Around Here No More and Stop Draggin' My Heart Around my childhood would have been so boring.

3. John Hiatt: Another wonderfully odd voice. He did a duet with Costello called Living A Little, Laughing A Little

4. Lucinda Williams: She's definitely a voice that's sometimes hard to take, but after she duetted with Costello on There's A Story In Your Voice. Check out Indoor Fireworks

5. Bob Dylan: I don't always like listening to recent stuff, but try Tangled Up In Blue

I Want Out

Of my house that is. I want to go to Wheeling, and not to the casino either. I want to go to the shopping plaza by the Cabela's. No I don't want to go to Cabela's. I'm totally against the great hunter unless said hunter uses the animals for food and not decoration, but that's another story altogether.

Why I want to go there is because they have a Books A Million. I can't help but be intrigued by the store. Sure we have Borders and Barnes and Noble, but Books a Million? Nope we don't have one of those around here.

Oh and then there are the restaurants. Feast your eyes on the menu at Cheddar's Casual Cafe and another sports bar type restaurant we don't have in Pittsburgh. Not that my butt needs restaurants like that, but hey, I appreciate good food. I appreciate food!

Books and food and clothes and music.

My favorite things and Triadelphia (which is essentially Wheeling) has them all.

Now if only I could get there.

~glares angrily at Bernie the Beretta~

Anyone up for a road trip to Wheeling?

I didn't think so :(

Someone Please Stop My Little Alarm Clock

I don't know why Skimble craves attention at 4 a.m. but he's like an alarm clock. He jumps on the bed and starts hunting toes and fingers every night/morning at that time.

But its getting old. I'm going to have to sleep with my door shut from now on, and that sucks, because I like to wake up to a kitty curled up at my feet.

But no, that's not likely to happen, because Skimble wants to attack my feet and then he wants love. It takes at least 15 minutes of petting him to get him to lay down or leave my room when he decides to hunt his prey.

None of the other cats were ever such toe/finger biters. And what's really odd is he's like clockwork.

At 4 a.m. a little bell must go off in his brain saying, go bite mom, because I needs lovins.

Weird little cat that Skimble and he's so damn cute its disgusting. If only he could get over his little thing with the toe biting. I'd really like to get a full nights sleep one day soon.

I Want To Reclaim My Night

Why? Because I slept horribly. I had cramps, sorry guys, if you wondered why I was sounding bitchier than usual, now you know.

The kittens decided that 4 am was a great time to plan a sneak attack on my feet. Well the one kitten mostly and that's Skimble the great white and brown hunter.

Dad's alarm goes off at an obscene hour of the morning.

When I did sleep I was having nightmares. Yay for the Tylenol PM not working properly.

The only thing that I can think of is sleep right now, and how I'm not going to getting any of it, until much much later this evening.

Damn.

And tonight's the only night where I enjoy ever show that's on from 8 til 11. I hope I don't fall asleep during the season finale of Castle!

My Duff Won

I did get to one cemetery yesterday and I did the laundry, oh and miracle of miracles, I went for a short walk. Anything else that I was planning on doing well, laziness took over.

My lazy gene is apparently very strong.

Today however I have to fight back against the duff.

I need to get to Wally World, CVS, possibly KMart and then mum wants KFC for dinner since getting out for her is not an easy task.

The sad thing is for some reason I feel like I had a hugely busy day and I'm dead tired. Go figure.

I'm fighting a losing battle with my duff. The power of the duff is strong. However if I get moving shortly I may prevail today. The word of course is "may."

Lazy Saturday Mornings

Most days I get up and get going pretty quickly, but for some reason, no matter how much I have to do, whether it be going out of the house kinda stuff or just piddling stuff to do for my websites. Several of those reviews I post about on Mossip are part of my freelance job. Yeah I get paid for those. At least some of them.

Today I need to get my butt up off the computer chair for a bit so I can put in some of the flowers at the cemeteries. I hate doing that. Mostly because I hate geraniums. Why these are the dead people flower of choice I don't know. But Blech! I really hate doing this, and I have 2 cemeteries to go to.

Which means at 10:18, I really should be getting up off my duff and getting shit down.

However my duff has other ideas.

It always does.

I like my lazy time. However I life seems to dictate that I don't get to have much of it. I will prevail somehow!

Top 5 On Friday; Week 221

From Music Memoirs

Top 5 songs that your mother likes

1. Elaine Paige - Memory
My mother has always loved this one. It took ages to discover who was singing this back in the 80s when it came out.

2. Master Of The House from Les Mis
Mom and Dad love this musical and this one of the highlights of the show. Such a fun song. I love that the singer uses a cockney accent even though this musical takes place in...erm...FRANCE!

3. Michael Ball - When A Child Is Born - This version have Claire Moore (from Phantom) singing with him.

One of the most beautiful Christmas songs ever.

4. Edwyn Collins - North Of Heaven
This was never a released single but it was one that I played a lot in my car back in those days when mom got out more. Edwyn's lyrics were about moving North of Heaven because he was tired of living south of Hell. Great song.

5. The Proclaimers - I'm On My Way
My mom shares this with the 10th doctor, she likes The Proclaimers. But how can you not love these Scottish twins?

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Random Things

1. I had my ultrasound yesterday on the boobie and all is well now for another year. Yay! Now if only the tech hadn't scared a few years off my life saying but there are lots of things in this area. You do not say shit like that during a cancer screening damn it!

2. Discovered a new band called Elizabeth and the Catapult. They were on the soundtrack to Renee Zellweger's lastest awful movie, New In Town. Their song was great.

3. Why is it that I can't stay awake for the shows on at 10 o'clock. I can force myself to stay awake for Castle on Mondays, but anything else, I end up losing the last 10 minutes of at least.

4. I posted my weekly article at mossip Elfslut Says and my review of the Philadelphia band The Beloved Infidels.

5. We interrupt this post for a cute kitty pic

6. Any time I go down 2nd ST hill here in the 'Roi, I look for the Hobbit garage. Funny how you don't notice things all your life but when you find them, you always see them?

7. I've totally become addicted to Facebook. If you haven't added me yet, this is my profile.

8. The best place to discover new music is Reverbnation.

9. Why can I not finish Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book? I like it? But my cheesy romances are trumping it. I've been reading less than 10 pages a day on that one. I may finish it by Christmas. ARGH!

10. I need to get to the green house to buy mother's day flowers for the graves. I also have some posies for gram.

11. I Can Haz Cheezburger is the site that holds my sanity together!

12. Egg and Chipped Ham sandwiches = Yum

13. Pondering a Canon Powershot camera. Someone please tell me this isn't necessary to my existence?

One Last Bit Of Prodding

Today is my followup Mammogram and I will be so glad when its over. Both things they found were benign but I just can't help but worry.

I just want it all to be over and done with.

I'm hoping that after this followup I don't have to go back for at least another year, or until I'm 40.

I'm sick of doctors. I'm sick of tests. I just want all this to be over with. I want to have a little bit of time when I don't have to worry about something.

Disappointment

Everyone knows how much I love Big Bang Theory. Its possibly the show that I love the most that's on the telly that comes from the US.

Last night's episode was the first one that ever made me go, "meh."

It was cute, but the whole Penny, Leonard, Friend from the Comic Book Store thing was pretty lame. I've watched most of the first 2 seasons of this show and last night was the first time I was totally unimpressed by the episode.

That makes me sad, because that was one of the shows that I always considered to be good no matter what. Of course, the whole Leonard/Penny thing is rather dull, its more fun when Penny is interacting with the other guys who are really more socially inept. Leonard is too much of the "normal" one.

It should have been so much better considering the back story was about Howard's space toilet. And yes the toilet humor was so much funnier than the whole Penny thing.

~sigh~

I never thought I'd be disappointed in this show. The writers were doing so well, but I guess everyone has an off episode now and then.

Random 10 - Week 203

From Music Memoirs

10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back. (oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)

Sure I listened to a lot of music when my nieces weren't driving me totally batty, but I really only listened to one album and that was the one I reviewed.

Here it is

An Interesting Picture

Our family grave sits on the hit overlooking the toll road, RT 43 from Sacred Heart cemetery. Its a good catholic cemetery so I'm sure they've informed the family of the issue with the tombstone.

I'd hate to come to see my loved one only to find the stone toppled over.

The Hobbit Garage

How neat is that?

Saturday Morning

I love my family but when they visit the whole household gets into an uproar. We have to listen to BS from my brother about our animals and about things he things I should do with my life.

It makes the whole weekend become one big fight at some point. Not usually when he's around, but in the hours when he's not there, because everyone is worried about how the house looks or where the cats are and to be perfectly honest I wonder why we should care. He's my mom's son. If that stuff bothers him, he should keep his mouth shut during his visits.

Mom loves the animals. As anyone can see, they are well cared for. I take them to the vet and see that they are fed. The nephew and I clean there litter boxes. Truthfully the problem animal is the 14 year old dog, but he's family and we won't do anything to hurt him.

It was always like this. It makes me wonder, is he ashamed of us?

This weekend, which we want to be fun, will be a pain in the ass.

Top 5 On Friday: Week 220

From Music Memoirs

Top 5 artists you might not have listened to if not for the internet (tell us how you discovered them)

1. Judd Starr: I discovered his album Spirit and Skin through the internet. It was totally random too and was probably one of my best finds last year. His music is like Duran Duran only better, more intelligent and with less makeup. Oh and go to CD Baby and buy his music. NOW! Actually you should have bought it yesterday!!

2. Deni Bonet: I read her blog for ages, but never listened to her music until last year and boy am I glad I did. Anyone that sings a song called Fuck It is ok in my book.

3. Keri Noble: Would you believe I discovered her while surfing blogs awhile back? I bought Fearless as a result of that and I've been a fan ever since.

4. Down By Avalon: I found them while shopping at CD Baby. If you like The Moody Blues, click on the link and listen to their songs on Reverbnation. You won't be sorry.

5. Chris Blake: He actually found me, and I'm glad he did. His Waves CD and his new EP Tetris should be in everyone's collections. Great stuff!

The Ten Doctors: A Fanmix

Murray Gold - Doctor Who Theme
Doctor 1: Neil Young - Old Man
Doctor 2: Elvis Costello - Let's Misbehave
Doctor 3: The Moody Blues - Stepping In A Slide Zone
Doctor 4: Bow Wow wow - I Want Candy
Doctor 5: Semisonic - For The Love The Game
Doctor 6: Jane Moneit - The Rainbow Connection
Doctor 7: Gordon Lightfoot - In My Fashion
Doctor 8: Colbie Calliat - Kiss The Girl
Doctor 9: The Beatles - Nowhere Man
Doctor 10: The Proclaimers - I'm On My Way
Full Mix: The 10 Doctors (50 MB)
Comments: This mix is a labor of love. I have represented some part of each Doctor with a song, whether its a character trait or even a favorite band of a certain 10th Doctor. This was probably the hardest of the 10 mixes requested and I saved it for last. The artwork was lovingly made by my wonderful pal MoodyMistress
I truly hope you guys love it. I included the show's theme because it wouldn't be a doctor who mix without that signature piece of music.
~ Comment if taking

Frustration:Thursday Thirteen Style

Thirteen things that frustrate me right now

Where to start:

~ Radiator cap and thermostat shot on Bernie the Beretta. The car is falling apart around me. ARGH

~ Why do I always forget to buy cotton.

~ 10 o'clock telly is the demon. I always fall asleep during the last 10 minutes.

~ The Doctor Who Mixtape I'm making. I still need songs for Doctors 6 and 7 and I have no inspiration for these two guys as their doctors are ones I haven't watched much.

~ I have too much shit to do and not enough time to do it.

~ My hours at work are still cut. (Though I'm not sure how frustrated I really am about this)

~ The kittens never let me sleep past 7.

~ The weather, is it hot is it cold.

~ I need a day off, but I don't know if I'm getting vacation days this year.

~ I keep trying to figure out if I can take a road trip this year. All signs are pointing to a big fat NO!

~ Need to clip the dog. The dog gets feisty when I do this and it takes FOREVER to do.

~ Need to clean, but anytime I go to do something someone is in the room I need to be in...can you guess that room is the freaking bathroom?

~ 2 reviews I must write for mossip but my time its non-existent!

Hump Day Already?

Where the hell is the week going? Its hump day already? Yikes! There's still so much to do this week and as usual, I'm getting very little done.

I'm going to have 2 reviews I need to write to get paid and I have 2 more that I need to write because I requested the music. More fool me. I didn't expect to get slammed with reviews in such a short period of time.

At least its money, right? That's a plus, because I'm still not working my usual 40 hours. And all this work goofyness is giving me nightmares. Literally! I've actually had dreams about my boss. Not what I want to dream about. Worse still I've had dreams about that whacknut DJ again.

The heat is definitely getting to me, doncha think. I haven't had more than a passing thought about that guy in ages.

Truth be told I haven't thought much about any guys, other than my TV guys in ages, and that's a safe thing for me.

I'm just not in the mood for much and I haven't been for ages. I prefer to be left alone.

Ah, its just too much to think about right now.

Oh and did I mention one of my tires died last night. Totally shredded and of course I have very little money now until Friday. So double ARGH!

Why can't I just go back to bed....and let the day go over the hump by itself?

Some Random Stuff

~ I now have a Facebook page and I don't know why? Feel free to be my friend over there. What really is the point of that site and for that matter Twitter. I freaking can't stand Twitter.

~ The Chuck season finale was awesome. I can only hope NBC has the intelligence of picking that show up for a 3rd season.

~ 90 degree heat in April really really SUCKS!

~ I'm totally frustrated with one of my friends who is constantly bitching and moaning on her blog about her weight. If she wasn't a friend since grade school I would probably ditch her from my f-list because reading her complain when she's 5'8 and not very fat at all, in fact NOT AT ALL FAT, makes me want to do her bodily harm.

~ The Swine Flu? This is totally driving me nutso. What's one more disease in the grand scheme of things! ARGH!

~ Why are super thin models newsworthy? Seriously if you starve yourself thin, you are just weeding yourself out of the gene pool, which is probably a very good thing indeed.

It Was A Weird Night

Very seldom do I let people from the internet into my real life, but somehow out of the blue there is this guy from GA that a friend of mine has kinda known for awhile that managed to get my phone number. Cell phone that is.

He's not a bad guy.

He's just...

Erm...

I can't pinpoint it, but see I have this theory. He's good-looking, as in model, rock-star attractive. His family has money, enough that he's had time to play at being in a band.

So in general why would you pay any attention to a rather poor little girl from Southwestern, PA.

See something in that doesn't jive with me.

And I don't wish to be the next Eliza Doolittle. Not that I would because he's in GA and I'm in PA...and this girl travels for no one, but you catch my drift.

So for an hour and a half I talked to this guy about music, which was nice, but it left me feeling all, Bleh...because I generally wished he was someone else. Not because I didn't like him, but because even if he were around, it just seems impossible and improbable.

The guys a bit wingnuttty, right?

One Year Ago Today....

The most beautiful lady in the world left my life.

Grandma I miss you so much. Words cannot express how much I love you. I wish we had more time. I think of you everyday and my heart breaks a little more because you aren't here with us anymore.

Love you more, Gram.

Weekend Busy-ness

~ Still trying to find a cheap car. And when I say cheap I mean around $2,000. Have I mentioned it sucks to be poor?

~ I need time to clean and yet there are other things I need to get done. I have 2 album reviews to do. One that I will be getting paid for and another that I do for the helluvit. Either way its quite a fun thing. The reviews, not the cleaning. I hate to clean!

~ Must do some form of exercise. I remember when I used to like walking and challenging the old body. Perhaps that's part of the problem. I'm feeling old.

~ Its almost 1 o'clock. Tomorrow at this time will be one year since my gram died. I want to talk to her so badly. I can't believe how fast this year has gone.

~ My neighbors have a two Sharpei puppies and I'm so in love with them. I took a few pictures when they came down to the fence for their loving. Can any of you guess that I love animals?

~ Its in the mid-80s today. Why is it that we don't have spring anymore? We have winter and summer. PAH!

Top 5 On Friday: Week 220

From Music Memoirs

Top 5 artists you wish would put out new material soon and why

1. The Moody Blues: Why? Because their final studio album should not be a Christmas album, no matter how wonderful it is. That's a terrible swansong for a career spanning over 40 years.

2. Duran Duran: So that I can burn the horrible sound of their last crap album out of my brain! Please guys! You can do so much better than Red Carpet Massacre! Hell, anyone can!

3. Gordon Lightfoot: One more album Gordon please. Harmony was so wonderful. I know the guy is in his 70s but I still hold out hope that he has a few more songs to share with us. Its a dream, I know, but hell, you gotta dream, right?

4. Erasure: Sure they just put a best of compilation out, but I want new material! Total Pop is a great best of, but I want new songs!!!!

5. Over The Rhine: I'm greedy I always want new material from this band. They are so very awesome. Plus they haven't had an album out in a year, and that was Live From Nowhere 3.
