Amazon Recommendations Kill Me

Torchwood: ConsequencesI really don't need any help finding more books to read. I have a list of about 50 book bloggers where I can find more stuff to wishlist.

Yes, Mike, my floor is about to cave in!

So today, I open my email from Amazon and what are they recommending?

Torchwood books!

I miss Torchwood in a sick demented kind of way. I have a love/hate thing with John Barrowman. Reading a book might remind me why I loved the show even when it turned so bad in the mini series from hell.

Thankfully since a new series hasn't been made yet, the books at least feature Ianto, who I'm going to miss if the show does go forward.

Now I need to buy a few of these. I already have about 5 Doctor Who books, so it would only be fair to dive into the Torchwood stories.

Torchwood = Meh

I realize that part of the world hasn't watched the Children Of Earth mini-series yet, but I have to say: MEH. Russell T. Davies took a show that had quite a following and systematically offed any character that viewers liked.

This is truly not a way to make lasting TV.

I understand that its not the writer/producer/directors job to make everyone happy, but certainly they understand that people tune in for the actors as well as the stories.

With yet another member of the team...well DEAD and the other main character so freaking unlikable its hard to believe many will want a Series 4. I sure as hell don't.

Granted this was better TV than I've seen anywhere other than the USA network, but it was hugely disappointing too, because it wasn't the Torchwood that I've come to love during the last 2 series.

Sorry Uncle Rusty....you blew it...and please get your butt back to the UK, cos we really don't want you here.

TV Ramblings

I watch Torchwood. I admit it. I'm slowly becoming a total Whovian. I finally watched Adrift and I have to say, I cried through the last 20 minutes of it. I hate when tv shows do that to me.

There's enough for me to cry about without me crying because of some stupid show, but dammit this episode was good. It was really really good.

A few weeks ago I caved and started hunting down the episodes that aired in the UK, because BBC America is about 3 maybe 4 weeks behind and I belong to several communities on Livejournal for the show, and frankly I hate hearing everyone talk about the episodes they've watched.

I have no patience. None.

I don't know that I'll be watching Doctor Who on Sci-Fi, because we'll be a month behind the UK on that one too.

I can't handle it. I need my favorite shows NOW! I don't care when or where they originate. I think it's grossly unfair that movies get different releases for different countries. (Same goes for music, but I won't go there) And with so much going on the internet, being a week or behind is damn painful!!!

But back to Adrift. Best. Episode. Ever. I can't believe I'm saying that considering that I don't care for Gwen Cooper and that was the character that the show focused on. But whoa! Go Gwen.

And seriously if you don't cry in the last 20 minutes at all, you have no heart. No heart whatsoever. Now I have to watch Fragments!!!!!!

TV Obsessions

I admit that I don't watch a lot of telly, but when I get an obsession, it does take over. I have two of them now and they are related; Doctor Who and Torchwood. I live for Saturday night when they are on BBC America, and now I've learned that Doctor Who is also on Sci-Fi!

Of the two shows, I love Doctor Who the best. Why?

I think this is as good a reason as any to like Doctor Who better than Torchwood. Mmmm David Tennant. Seriously, some of the aliens out there, that are a bit friendlier towards the Time Lord, should try cloning him. I know I'd take one. I'd probably take two, just in case I wore one out.

He looks smashing in a tux too.

Mind you the guys on Torchwood are lovely to look at too, but none of them really do anything for me. I think its because none of them have that sexy geek look about them that David Tennant has.

And while I'm on the subject of Torchwood, I just listened to a few of John Barrowman's albums. I love him for his flaming, campy behavior and all the innuendo, and he has a lovely singing voice, I just wish I wouldn't have downloaded his Aspects of Lloyd Webber and Reflections Of Broadway albums. The songs he chose were ones that I'm used to hearing sung by other people, and for me his voice, though lovely, falls flat on some of these, especially the songs from Aspects of Love that Michael Ball sang. I'm so glad he didn't do Music Of The Night, I probably would never forgive him for that.

Now that I've gotten that off my mind, I'm going to see if I can find some Doctor Who to watch so that I can prepare myself for Sci-Fi Saturday on BBC America!

OMG Torchwood

Last night's episode of Torchwood was so damn sad. I loved it.

I can't believe I remembered to watch it. OK, I can. What I can't believe is that I was looking forward to watching it all week. It didn't disappoint either. For that matter, Doctor Who didn't too. Plus as I've said before, the new Doctor is such a flipping cutie, it's worth it to watch just for him.

But back to to Torchwood. If you like sci-fi/supernatural shows and you aren't a prude, you really should watch this show. It's got time travel, aliens, even ghosts. You really can't go wrong with it. Plus it's got eye candy for one and all.

What I love about the Brits is that they don't seem to have the hangups about sexuality and whatnot that we have here. A naked bum wouldn't see a channel getting fined millions. And I've seen John Barrowman get into a lip lock with at least two other people on Torchwood in the last few episodes. I usually find myself quite jealous of whoever gets the lip lock too.

But back to last night's episode that was about a rift in time. A rift that had part of 1918 and present time merging. That's all I'll say about the plot. I will tell you that the storyline is so good, that even if you don't like this sort of thing you'd like this episode. So if you get BBC America, watch it. You may find yourself wanting to see another and another.
