I'd like to say good bye and good riddance to 2013.
Most years I could give you a list of some of the nice things that have happened over the past 12 months.
This year, I'm not sure I can.
Yes, there have been some great albums out, and great singles
I particularly loved Nick Lowe's Quality Street. It made Christmas brighter for me
I also adored Erasure's Snow Globe
Paul McCartney's album was good, and I still don't own Elvis Costello's latest.
Early in 2013 Justin Hayward treated us to a fantastic album...Here's a video from his Pittsburgh show, which I sadly couldn't attend....
As for TV...Doctor Who rocked my world...
The 50th Anniversary Special was amazing as was the movie An Adventure In Time & Space. The Christmas Special, The Time of The Doctor broke my heart.
In my reading world, there were some fantastic reads.
Adriana Trigiani's The Supreme Macaroni Company was a favorite as was The Bride Wore Size 12. But when you've read 200 books in a year, it is hard to spotlight the best from the rest.
On a personal front, my dad's health is failing and as most of you know, he's on hospice care at home. It is sad to see a strong man brought so low. He needs anti anxiety meds most days. He fixates on one thing and lets it take over.
It is heartbreaking.
On a furbaby note..I lost 3 of my little ones this year...Bootsie, my sweet sweet invisicat, Blinky and Mucker (two of the kittens from Miss Itchy's litter last year)
So if asked how 2013 was..I'd have to say...it sucked!
~ Dad is home from the hospital, on hospice care, but he is doing surprisingly well, so let's keep our fingers crossed here.
~ The Day Of The Doctor = Awesomesauce....that's all I can say.
~ I need about 48 hours of sleep...that's not happening though.
~ I need rehab from Facebook games...STAT
~ DSL is no longer working well for me..thinking of switching to cable internet, but the cost is making me a bit nauseous. As I typed this..LAST NIGHT the connection went crazy and I don't know what is causing it, but it is more crazy when it rains.
~ Still loving the Mika and Arianna Grande version of Popular Song.
~ Have read a bunch of not so great books, that really makes me question the time I've wasted with them. I hate reading bad books. Blech.
~ I'm pretty sure my cat Gumdrop is trying to kill me. She's been sleeping on MY NECK!
Top 5 artists/bands you would like to thank for their music. 1. The Moody Blues 2. Elvis Costello 3. Mika 4. The Monkees 5. Gordon Lightfoot I chose these 5 because there music has meant the most to me in the course of my life. The Beatles should be in there too, but I imagine everyone wants to thank The Beatles for their contribution to music. Without these 5 artists and countless others, my life would be so boring. What artists are you giving thanks for this year?
No, not grocery shopping, my friends, I went shopping, shopping.
You know for clothes and stuff. Fun stuff.
And I actually got quite a haul.
At Peebles I got two pairs of shoes, a pair of sketchers and a pair of easy spirit walking shoes! I also got 2 tops! And when I did my shopping I ended up with a coupon for 40% of one item from my next purchase!
Then I headed over to KMart. I got a pair of NORMAL jeans! You know jeans without an elastic waist band! I also got 3 sweaters and another top and I bought my dad 2 pairs of jeans!
Oh and on the cooking front...at Aldi..I got a crazy awesome grater!
~ My kitty Gizmo had a most unpleasant abscess and an expensive one at that. This is my year for costly vet visits. Such fun.
~ Paul McCartney and Katy Perry on Graham Norton: If you haven't watched this episode, hunt it down. James Corgan from Gavin & Stacey and those fab guest spots on Doctor Who. Seriously, Katy Perry has to be one of the sweetest celebs.
~ Coolest new video..Erasure's Gaudete for their new Christmas album Snow Globe!
~ I have no life, my Saturday nights are spent watching Too Cute on animal planet, and wishing I had the houses this cats and doggies had. They should rename this show Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Baby Animals! Even the foster pets live in style!
~ I was totally disappointed in The 10th Doctor Revisited. Why couldn't they get all of the companions? Martha and Jack? And the dude that played the Sontaran. Blech. David's episode was almost as boring as The 9th Doctor.
~ Speaking of things that are disappointing...The Big Bang Theory. I know I'm the only one that probably feels this way, but the whole Leonard and Penny relationship is so boring.
~ New fall shows..I'm loving Super Fun Night, The Crazy Ones, & The Millers..I think I like The Goldbergs too but for some reason at 9 o'clock on Tuesdays...the only thing I can do is sleep.
