Top 5 On Friday

This week's Music Memoirs Friday meme is a bit different.

Top 5 Unlikely Musical Pairings

Rob Stewart and Dolly Parton - Baby It's Cold Outside
These are definitely two people that I'd never expect to work together, yet somehow this song is just too cute not to like. I'd never spent 20 dollars on the cd but the 99cents for the song was worth it.

Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach - Who Are These People
Elvis' career is all about unlikely musical pairings. The album Painted From Memory is just beautiful, but I thought this song that he did for Burt's most recent album is more unusual than the others.

Ann Wilson and Robin Zander - Surrender To Me
Heart meets Cheap Trick. Trying to picture a romantic pairing between the two as the song suggests is quite frightening, even though the song is great.

Ronan Keating and Maire Brennan - Fairytale Of New York
It's not so much the pairing as the choice of song and the way they cleaned up the lyrics, which is so wrong, even though I love Maire Brennan.
No version of this song can compare to the brilliance of the original though.

Danny Elfman and Poe - Strange Wind
Not a duet but the two of them wrote this song together. You can here a little bit of Danny's personality in the song, but you can here a whole lot of Lilith Fair in it as well. Very unlikely writing partnership in my eyes

An honorable mention

The Pet Shop Boys and Dusty Springfield - What Have I Done To Deserve This

I don't have it on my hard drive, but you can't get more unlikely than that.

Oh and for real life musical pairings...how about these two
