Drink With Me....To Days Gone By

I found this image at Charlene's Blog and I thought I'd share a glass with all of you!

And as we all reflect on the old year...I leave you with these lyrics from one of the most beautiful musicals ever to hit the stage.

Drink With Me from Les Miserables

Drink with me to days gone by
Can it be you fear to die?
Will the world remember you
When you fall?
Could it be your death
Means nothing at all?
Is your life just one more lie?

Drink with me to days gone by
To the life that used to be

At the shrine of friendship, never say die

Let the wine of friendship never run dry

Here's to you and here's to me

A blessed and prosperous new year to everyone!

And a picture of that other birthday boy

I felt bad that I didn't post a picture of Michael Nesmith. After all, he gave the Monkees some really great songs.

So in honor of his birthday as well, here is a picture of Papa Nez.

A very happy 61st Birthday Michael. Thanks for all the Monkee and Music Magic!

More Birthdays to Celebrate

All of my musical interests seem to be having birthdays this month. Today is Davy Jones and Michael Nesmith of the Monkees Birthdays.

Davy of course being the most important one. At five years old, I was determined to marry the man. I didn't care that he was old enough to be my father and then some. Today, Mr. Jones is 58. One year older than Justin Hayward and the same age as John Lodge.

Oye..I only have a few crushes that are under 40, most are 50 and up. What an odd bird I am.

Yeah ... Yeah...I know, everyone that stops by here knows I'm an odd bird. (with British tendencies)

Anywho..I thought I'd share a picture of the birthday boy of my choice.

Warm wishes on your 58th birthday Davy! You've brought many smiles to my life over the years, here's hoping you bring many more.

Birthday Wishes

Wishing Ray Thomas..the recently retired Moody Blues flute player and songwriter extraordinaire a very happy 62nd birthday!

I hope the music is still in your heart Ray..and thanks for the wonderful years of music you gave to us.

The Saddest Thing

I hate to think this, but I know it's quite possibly true. My love for Elvis Costello is almost at an end. I loved the snarky, sarcastic and cranky Elvis that didn't care what people thought of him.

Suddenly he's married, and at Sir Elton's pad, doing the party circuit and all the stuff that I never would have thought of him.

Something about this makes me think we've lost the Elvis of old and he's been replaced by a "Social Butterfly."

And now he's writing songs with his wife. The new Mrs. MacManus will have a new album out on April 27. It's titled The Girl in the Other Room, and features 3 or 4 tracks with lyrics she wrote with her new husband.

Pass the barf bag will ya.

I suppose if the next Costello album is anything like North I won't buy it and if I do, it will take a long time for me to do so.

I hate to relegate someone whose music I love to the same category as Madonna, whose music I had always loved, up until Music. Now I only buy her stuff after I've heard a good portion of it first. She has an EP out now..and it's kinda disappointing but not as disappointing as American Life.

I do realize that as a musician he must grow and do what is right for him, but I as a listener have to do the same. I've grown or at least expanded my musical horizons again this year. Costello's new music, just doesn't appeal to me.

It's strange too. (not the music, my dislike for it) It's sappy and romantic. So are the Moody Blues, but the sound just doesn't seem right to my ears. It worked with the Juliet Letters which I adore and it worked with Burt Bacharach another album of his I adore. Both are soft and melodic, but neither have that annoying quality that is so prevelant in North.

I think it's because, I'm the type of person that is compelled to sing along with my cds. I can't sing along to North. I'm even past caring that these are "I love you Diana" or "Wah, Cait left me" or some other sentiment like that, kinda songs.

Here's hoping that he creates some sappy songs that I can sing next time. I don't want to lose my faith in Mr. Costello.

And Now What? So Now What?

How is it that when you have plans on doing something, they always go awry? I'm doing my gift exchange with my two friends, Erin and April today, and I really had something in mind to give them, and now I can't find it!

ARGH! It wasn't something great or important, but something I wanted to give them to go along with the presents that I bought. Why do things always disappear in my house?

So I have about an hour and a half to find it (or it's replacement) and get ready. Not that I'm going anywhere. (cos I have no money this year)

I really send out warm Christmas wishes to my boss...who has made the past 5 months a misery to me. I'd also like to send out more warm Christmas wishes to the president..who fuqua'd the economy up. I don't care that we've seen enormous growth this year. Where is it? Fast Food? Oh wait, it's in the company that Cheney worked for.

Ooops season's misery coming out. Better get hunting for the missing gift.

On the 2nd Day of Christmas

I don't have a true love, so I suppose I'm not going to find anything, including the partridge in a pear tree.

As far as Christmas goes, this year wasn't too bad. No one really fought. (except for a small fit pitched early Christmas Eve) The presents were good. I have a kewl new digital camera. (yes my fotolog will be updated regularly now) Things are good.

OK, almost good.

Sister's car has a flat tire. (not an awful thing) My dad took her home last night, so he could get the tire fixed, and as he's coming home, his car starts leaking antifreeze.

Not good.

So, to make sure any further calamities don't occur, I got up at the asscrack of dawn to go, along with my father to pick up the sister and the nephew, and deliver one to work and the other to our couch.

Why, you ask did my father have to come along?

Easy one! My car is jealous! It senses things like other cars breaking down and wants attention of it's own. I wanted protection, just in case mine decided to act unnaturally.

And to make sure we all had a nice scare, my battery light came on briefly. That would be my cars way of letting me know that, it knows what's going on.

Oh how I love my life.

My Christmas Prayer

May the Spirit of "December" touch your hearts today and that everyone the world over remember the significance of this day. It's not the tree, it's not the gifts...it's love..and the love that was given to the world over 2000 years ago.

May the gifts He brought to us fill our hearts today and for the rest of the year. This Christmas may not be white, but with love in our heart, there will always be some December Snow to bring peace and light to the day.

And if this were the last Christmas I'd see, I know I've seen love and beauty this year...in the music.

Merry Christmas and Peace!

If we "Keep the Faith" we can make this world a better place.

Spread some Holiday Cheer - Pass the Wreath

Spread some Holiday Cheer - Pass the Wreath

I found this on Charlene's blog today.

Right click and take this little wreath. Link back to the site you took it from. Leave a message in the comments if you do it.

Merry Christmas from the Family

In honor of the most festive time of year. (HA, the fights have already begun) I thought I'd post the song lyrics for the most truthful Christmas tune written. It's got a fantastic video that makes you really appreciate that every family is dysfunctional. The song was originally done by Robert Earl Keen Jr, (Whoever the heck he is) but it was recorded sometime later by Jill Sobule (aka the I Kissed a Girl chick).

Read the lyrics and tell me you don't see parts of your family in this song!

Merry Christmas From the Family

Mom got drunk and Dad got drunk
At our Christmas party
We were drinkin' champagne punch
And homemade eggnog
Little sister brought her new boyfriend
He was a Mexican
We didn't know what to think of him
Til he sang Feliz Navidad
Feliz Navidad

Brother Ken brought his kids with him
The three from his first wife Lynn
And the two identical twins
>From his second wife MaryNell
Of course he brought his new wife Kaye
Who talks all about AA
Chain smokin' while the stero plays
Noel, Noel, The first Noel

Carve the turkey turn the ball game on
Mix Margaritas when the eggnog's gone
Send somebody to the Quik-Pak store
We need some ice and an extention cord
A can of bean dip and some Diet Rite
A box of tampons and some Marlboro Lights
Hallelujah everybody say cheese
Merry Christmas from the family

Fran and Rita drove from Harlingen
I can't remember how I'm kin to them
But when they tried to plug their motorhome in
They blew our christmas lights
Cousin David knew just what went wrong
So we all waited on our front lawn
He threw the breaker and the lights came on
And we sang Silent Night
Oh Silent Night

Carve the turkey turn the ballgame on
Make Bloody Marys cause we all want one
Send somebody to the Stop 'n Go
We need some celery and a can of fake snow
A bag of lemons and some Dite Sprite
A box of tampons and some Salem Lights
Hallelujah everybody say cheese
Merry Christmas from the family

Feliz Navidad.

8) First album you ever bought?
The Monkees Greatest Hits...I used to watch reruns of the show all the time!! I wanted to marry Davy Jones. I still would, if he asked.

9) Name a song that reminds you of someone.
Fruitcakes by Jimmy Buffett reminds me of my brother. No..not because he's a fruitcake, but because that was the album he played for me, while we were making an excursion to a record fair in Monroeville. It was the first Buffett song I really paid any attention too.
What I really want for Christmas.

I stole this idea from Stacy. Now you will be subjected to what I really want for Christmas.

~ A quiet peaceful holiday.

~ A Moody Blues tour very soon .... Justin and Lodgey..I miss ya!!

~ My job to return..and with it paychecks that don't bounce like a rubber ball

~ Justin Hayward's hand in marriage...and if not that..to be a kept woman...his kept woman. (I will also accept being Lodgey's kept woman)

~ Elvis Costello to recall that he is a rock musician and not a jazz singer. (Jazz singing would be his wife's job)

~ The size 6's to start fitting again.
The last-minute Christmas to do list

OK, it's less than twenty four hours before the madness starts. There should be little lest to do, but that's never the case. My list may be small, but the stuff left to do is well not so small.

1. Keep the cat from eating the tree in my computer room. (I've had to wash the tree skirt twice now)

2. Finish dejunking the computer room. (That way I can take pictures of the tree and my cd collection on Christmas Day without being to embarrassed)

3. Find a home for the remaining dejunked clothes that don't have a home to go to.

4. Burn my holiday mix cds for myself. (GAH...how did I forget that!!)

Not a long list by any means, but 1-3 may take forever. (especially since a certain kitty finds plastic so refreshingly tasty.)

Hopefully all this will still allow me time to finish about 5 more pages of Man Out of Time and the last 100 pages of the book I'm reading.

Yeah, I'm dreaming I know. I'll be up til 2 a.m. either cleaning or working on the story, because I won't go to bed until the 5 pages are finished now. Yesterday's update was the hardest. I was getting pulled all over creation yesterday, to the mall and to Walmart. (to of the so not fun places at this time of year)

But I survived!!

For that I deserve a medal or at least a cookie.

WalMart Shopping - Save Me

There is one thing worse than dejunking, and that's shopping at Walmart. It's bad year round, but on the 22nd of December it's unbearable. Some really scary people come out to the Walmarts in more rural areas. It can be quite hard to find more than a handful of people with a full set of teeth running around the place. (but that's another rant all together)

I have a statement to make.

I hope the person that bought To Our Children's Children's Children and On a Threshold of a Dream is happy

I had intentions of finding homes for these two Moody Blues CDs. I'm really surprised that they were gone. That means at some point in time, in redneck Belle Vernon, someone (that wasn't me) purchased two Moody Blues CDs!!

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

It's a shame Walmart didn't stock the new album, "December."

Now mind you, if you are someone like Hillary Duff, there will be an abundance of your musical garbage around. If you have talent, well then...no. They didn't have the Loreena McKennit discs either and she has two seasonal CDs.

Allow me to Grrrrr at that.

Though I have to say, Walmart has a great holiday specialty area. Tons of fun gift ideas...like S'mores kits, Campell's soup kits.. all with pretty mugs and fun food items. Really fun gifts at reasonable prices.

Those are the things I appreciate most in life, fun food items.

Like Orange Kit Kats...mmmm and Lindor Truffles...and have any of you seen Swoops yet? Oh are they yummy.

But really, going into Walmart there was a line of cars..almost backed up onto the main road. The parking lot was nearly full!!

My brain...my sanity!!! And heaven forbid people just park their cars...they have to circle the lot for that perfect spot by the door!!!

ARGH!!

Walk dammit..walk...you could probably use it!! I know I can..that's why I parked at the back of the lot. It's good for tension relief too...after dealing with the crazy people inside the store.

The Christmas mantra

~ It's not polite to kill people

If you say that enough times to yourself you can possibly make it through the store and finish your shopping with most of your sanity intact and maybe one nerve.
Dejunking Continues - Save Me

I continued dejunking yesterday. Oh mylanta, when did I get so many clothes? I got rid of about 7 grocery bags full of clothes yesterday, and I still don't have room for the rest. ARGH!

A vast majority of the stuff are sweats that I sleep in and concert t-shirts. I have about 5 concert t-shirts I actually wear in public; my Costello shirt, a cute Def Leppard one that I got last tour, my Eddie Izzard shirt and the Moody Blues shirt. All the rest, however pretty they are get relegated to sleepwear.

I also have shirts from some of the musicals I've seen. Yup about 5 or 6 Phantom of the Opera shirts, a Cats shirt, The Secret Garden, Les Miserables, Tommy, oh dear and a few more. I really need to figure out what to do with this stuff!! I want my room to be livable in a few days.

I have entirely too much stuff. At least my books and cds are orderly. The magazines and stuff I had were relatively easy to dejunk. I have one empty drawer in my huge monstrosity of a desk now. (I'm planning to rid the world of that desk sometime after Christmas)

So I did accomplish something. It's just now I still have some huge piles of clothes that need to find homes. (There's no room in the inn so to speak) I knew I never should have started this project!!

Reflections on 2003

This was a very odd year to say the least. So I'm going to go through and list somethings that I thought as highlights of the year. (from a worldwide and my own perspective) Then I'll list some of the low points. (Which are of course more fun)

2003 the Good Bits

It was a musically good year, seeing releases from Madonna, David Bowie, The Moody Blues, Sarah McLaughlin, Cyndi Lauper, The Beatles, Erasure, Sarah Brightman, and Cheap Trick to name but a few.

Eddie Izzard did a stand up tour of North America and the UK. (and Pittsburgh was one of the cities he played)

Anne Rice released yet another volume in the Vampire Chronicles - Blood Canticle (sadly though this is the last one)

It was a good year for concerts too (If you lived anywhere but Pittsburgh) David Bowie embarked on his first world tour in years..(after a bout with the flu delayed it a few days) Elvis Costello continues to rock audiences (even though his new album doesn't) The Damned and the Misfits toured together in the Fiend Fest, The Moody Blues spent 3 months touring the US. (not bad for a bunch of old blokes) Duran Duran played a few dates in the summer than embarked on a sold out tour this November of small venues.

No I didn't forget the new Harry Potter novel...that I haven't read yet.

Elvis Costello was one of the inductees to the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame and he hosted Lettermen as well.

A fabulous year for movies: Love Actually, Pirates of the Carribean, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Bringing Down the House, yet another Lord of the Rings film. Gee I know there are more, I just can't remember them all now.

Tim Burton's new film - Big Fish opened in select cities this month. (and is getting nods for Golden Globe awards)

I had some lovely celebrity sitings this year: Brad Sherwood, Eddie Izzard, John Lodge and Justin Hayward.

Oh and we caught Saddam.

2003 the not so great bits

We started a war with Iraq over WMD's and we still haven't found any.

Elvis Costello married Canadian jazz songbird Diana (Krallomort) Krall.

Ah-nold gets elected governator of CA, proving that there are less than 10 working brain cells in that state.

Michael Jackson again gets charged for well...child molestation.. (Mostly because it's completely legal to be a total freak)

Danny Elfman married actress Bridget Fonda on Nov 29...the 2nd anniversary of the death of George Harrison.

The world lost, John Ritter, Johnny Cash and Maurice Gibb to name but a few celebrity deaths.

NBC unsuccessfully tried to clone BBC's Coupling series to replace Friends, it was cancelled after only 4 or 5 epis.

The RIAA started suing people who download music, but they haven't done anything at all to make people want to buy it.

Mexican Food Restaurant Chi-chi's files chapter 11 and gets hit with being the lucky restaurant to start a hepatitis outbreak in Western PA..thanks to some green onions imported from Mexico. (GRRRRR...poor Chi-chis)

Whose Line is it Anyway...is slowly taken off of ABC

Dejunking: The Unsavory Task

I'm blaming this on Linda, (who I was very cranky too yesterday..and I apologize) she started the dejunking thing a few weeks ago. I'm looking around my house and realizing..OYE..Junk everywhere.

I'm terrible at throwing things away.

I keep magazines and stuff that have nothing to do with people I like anymore. Dear god, you should see my desk drawers.

I do have one dilemma with this. What do you do with old calendars? I used to get Beatles calendars every year for the pictures. I have a Paul McCartney calendar too. Should I keep them? Its so hard to decide. I've made up my mind to toss the Phantom of the Opera calenders. (they aren't necessary to my existence)

Getting rid of my junk is going to be like an amputation..Bring that back!! I've had it for 25 years..you can't toss it. The real amusement in this, is that I can pitch anyone else's junk in a heartbeat. My own? Fuck no...you can't touch it.

I will be clinging to my junk even as I toss it in the garbage can. I will wail and cry as I throw it in the furnace to burn. (yes we have a coal furnace here)

I'm also going to go through some of the mix cds I've made..cos there's a pile of CDrs on my desk that need going through. This is a complete dejunking.

What are the reasons for it?

Well in the one room, it's because I have every intention of getting a new desk..and I need to clear away stuff, before we can start breaking the big monstrosity of a corner desk down to chuck.

In my (giggle) entertainment room it's more of a need for a clean sweep.

BTW I got the old digital camera to snap a picture of my Charlie Brown tree..(with the Moody Blues Ornament) If my sister will host it..I'll post the picture here. If not, I'll upload it to my fotolog page.

Time to start cleaning, and also work on Man Out of Time. I have 5 pages to write today!!

Friday, December 19, 2003

100 Pages!!

Man Out of Time has hit 100 pages. And not without issue. I had 4 pages done and my computer froze taking them with it.

GRRR!

Everyone who gets updates has the milestone post. I hope you enjoy it. I'm very excited and very tired. I need to relax for awhile so I can continue on with the story tomorrow.
Writing Goals

I made a wish to hit page 150 on Man Out of Time a week or so ago. I thought it was in jest. I thought I'd never make it to page 100 by the year end.

I was wrong.

Very wrong.

Man Out of Time is now at 95 pages, back to being the longest thing I've ever written. (Love Eternal finished at 91 pages) I have a personal goal to write 5 pages a day. Well since I was so close to 100 my goal today is 7. I want to hit 100 pages tonight.

I think the story is coming along so much better now. I'm really proud of it, more so than I was 6 months ago. I really hope that one day in the next year or two..when you are at Waldenbooks or Borders or Barnes and Nobel you see Man Out of Time on the shelves, and maybe even hear of me signing a copy for the man that inspired the character Tristan.

Wish me luck!!

I Dream of Lodgey...He's so Warm and Cuddly

You know, it's quite fun when you talk about someone before heading off to bed and they appear in your dream. I had a lovely dream about Mr. Lodge. (no not that kind of dream....damn and blast)

I did get a cuddle from him again...and wootness...I didn't have to share my cuddle with anyone!! Sharing Moody cuddles is so wrong. (even though I do lurve my sister) I want a Lodgey cuddle of my very own!! Is that too much to ask?

It was really odd, because I haven't a clue where we were...Justin was there too, but he didn't talk to me. (Harumph...for that I'll snuggle with Lodgey just a little bit longer) They were doing a small concert or something, because they did Gemini Dream and someone fubarred the lyrics....then Lodgey started playing Lean On Me (Tonight)

What a great dream. It was one of the first dreams that I'm sure I heard the music in. I knew what songs they were playing, and yet the only John Lodge song I listened to yesterday was Street Cafe. I didnt listen to the Moody Blues much yesterday to be perfectly honest. On the way to the mall I had my 70's mix cd on. It has Justin's Raised on Love and John's Street Cafe...the only Moody Blues song on the compilation was For My Lady. (my favorite song by Ray Thomas) So that doesn't explain it either.

I will say this, I'm not complaining. If John Lodge wants to visit my dreams again anytime soon, he's more than welcome too.

After all it's hard for me not to love that sweet face.

Happy Anniversary Justin and Marie Hayward?

I swear I read that it was on the 24th of Nov back at the Higher and Higher board. Ah well, I was wrong or someone was wrong.

Happy Anniversary you gorgeous hunk of blonde male flesh..and your uglier than sin..zombielike woman wife...that needs a few dozen Big Macs so that she looks healthy!

33 years or summat like that..and her teeth are still growing...much like the tail of Dicky Dragon...by next year they should reach mars ...who knows maybe jupiter!

Just to clue you in, on my hate list Marie Hayward is among the 4 blonde women I don't like very much. I'm sure you can guess 2 out of the other 3 remaining.

So yes, Mrs Hayward, if for some reason you'd stumble across my blog today..and why you would..I can't fathom. (Cos I'd be having 33 rounds of sex with my sexier than sin hubby if I were her) I don't like you. It's a jealousy thing. Cos they don't make men that look like Justin Hayward anymore. (and if they do I sure haven't seen one) So don't take it personally.

If you had married someone else..I wouldn't have cared. But alas you chose one of my concubines....so pfft on you.

Happy Anniversary.

I don't fucking hardly think so

~props to Mr. Proops for the quote

Christmas Shopping and other things Satan Engineered

Tonight I'm heading off to finish the Christmas shopping that has to be done. Oddly I'm buying a present for me. No...not as in...shopping for me, but as in..my mother can't go to the malls etc much anymore, so I get to go buy my present. Which is hopefully a decent digital camera. A non-expensive decent digital camera, to be precise. (mebbe even the Erasure Hits DVD!)

I dread going to Best Buy, which is the only stop on the Christmas shopping spree. I can feel the insanity from here. (which is about 21 miles from the nearest store) I have to find a CD for my friend Mary. I was going to get her the Moody Blues - December, but I'd rather her have something that she can listen too all year. (ARGH the dilemma...gain sales for the new cd...or buy her one of the old ones!!) Oh wait, Best Buy's probably not going to have December..cos they are rat bastards ... so she will get either Strange Times or the Say It With Love Compilation.

The brother, you know the one that busted my DSL at Thanksgiving, (I LOVE YA RUDY! HONEST!) is getting a best buy gift card...cos damn it, I couldn't find any kewl Buffett concert cds this year! Wails!

I wish mix cds would soothe the savage beasties...but well, none of us have similar taste in music. Even my friends don't like the same thing!! ARGH! Ok, we do, but in varying quanities.

~sniffle~ I want a damned "Damned" CD!!!! I want Dave Vanian! Kinda...sexy mofo he is.

See I told you he was.

After we shop...we get to go to two of my favorite places, Primanti Bros (yummy sammiches) and Krispy Kreme. Can I get a Yay for Krispy Kreme! I lurve Krispy Kreme, and I generally don't care about donuts...

Krispy Kreme's are so good they have to be the work of Satan...you eat one...then you want another and soon you've devoured the whole box and you look like "Fat Bastard" from Austin Powers.

Can I say Primanti Bros is just as bad? Trippy sandwiches that only Pittsburgher's love..OK and a few people in Miami. Doesn't everyone have a cousin there? I'd describe them to ya, but you'd be grossed out. Let's just say..the side of fries and slaw makes it onto the bread. Odd but yummy, and purely the work of Satan.

Hmmm I think I've been watching too many SNL reruns..I'm starting to sound like the church lady!!

Now who could have possessed me to type that? Could it have been, SATAN!

Saved by the Music

I stole this one from Moody Mistress. Her blog is as Moodiful as mine. Go check out the pics from the Providence, RI show at her blog. You'll have to scroll down a bit, but they are lovely indeed.

What music do you listen to when you are...
1. Angry: Punk...It's the whole Angy Young Sod thing. So either old Costello, the Clash, mebbe the Damned...and don't forget some Sex Pistols or even PIL.

2. Sad: I tend to agree with Moody Mistress...definitely not the Moody Blues. They'll only make me want to search for the blade. Oingo Boingo usually gets tossed in the cd player then. Danny can get me thinking most of the time so that I forget about being sad.

3. In a dancing mood: 80's music!! Especially Duran Duran and Erasure!! I lurve Erasure!

4. In love: Lurve? What is Lurve, Anyway? I'll tell you when I'm in lurve what I listen to, until then...I haven't a clue at how to answer this one.

5. In a moving vehicle: I have a mix cd of driving music that I made awhile back, it has the Wallflowers, Billie Myers and a bunch of other artists on it. I like music that I can sing to in the car. Why? cos I like to scare the people at the toll road when I pull up to toss my change in.
Rebel Rebel, you've torn your dress

I love when I get a chance to really read the entertainment news. Today there was an article in Yahoo about David Bowie's Madison Square Garden Concert.

I lurve Bowie but this article made me think he is was somewhat super human. Oh wait, he's an alien...so he is, kinda.

He played almost 2 hours! Wow! For what the ticket prices are to see him, he could have kept on for another hour! I don't think that he did anything incredible there. Elvis Costello's shows usually hit the 2 hour mark, and some even go beyond that. (If my cdrs are to be believed) I'd even add that the Moody Blues play 2 hours, but they do it in a different fashion. Most of the time these days, the guys play theatres, so they take a 20 minute intermission between sets.

And the setlist. Oye! I love that new songs get called relative obscurities. Uh, you just called Cactus an obscurity? Why? Cos this reporter missed the Heathen tour. Yes I have a few of the shows on cdr, so guess what? He was playing Cactus last tour!!

Idiots!!

Yes, I'm picking apart a review of a show I wasn't even at, but I hate it when people get the whole thing wrong. Yes the setlist was fab! Over the past 5 years, Bowie has learned you can't neglect the old stuff in favor of the new. He did that on the Outside tour, and it left fans dazed and disoriented. (not to mention the NIN fans that left before he came on)

Still I think its fab that Bowie has such a fantastic tour going on. (even if it's not coming to Pittsburgh) The Music Whore only drives for the Moody Blues. Now if only the reviewers would get their information straight, oh and maybe attend a few other shows. (Not necessarily Bowie)

If Pink Floyd are the Kings of Classic Rock What are the Moody Blues?

Just to let you know, Vh-1 Classic plays entirely too much Pink Floyd. Not that it's a bad thing, I'm fast coming to enjoy their music, but I can't see them in the same genre as the Moody Blues.

I guess even as far as 60's music is concerned I saw the Moodies as the forerunners of the Adult Contemporary genre, though not completely. Their most hard rocking songs don't really rock out. (I'm Just a Singer and Ride My See Saw) I'm not saying that Pink Floyd rocks out, but ehm, Another Brick in the Wall is quite a bit more of a rocker than either of those two tracks.

So where does that leave the Moody Blues? Even at their most light and airy (Keys of the Kingdom) they don't really fit the lite fm stereo type. A little too thoughtful and not always sickeningly sweet.

Then there comes the comparison that even I noticed. Learning to Fly from Momentary Lapse of Reason by Pink Floyd sounds oddly Moody-ish, so does On the Turning Away. Justin Hayward could have written those two. I suppose he kind of answered that comparison in 2000 when the band recorded We Can Fly for the Journey to Amazing Caves soundtrack.

So that leaves me very confused, because I can't see the Moody Blues as being Progressive. Though from what I've come to understand about that genre, you only had to incorporate classical music into your music. If so, then sure the Moody Blues are Progressive.

I guess it's just me not liking to toss a label on anything. I like to think that bands like the Moody Blues and Pink Floyd and the Beatles and Rennaisance the list goes on...created timeless music. I think if any label should sit on a band, that's as good as any.

So that would put them as the Crowned Princes of Timeless Music.

Hmmm

Prince Justin Hayward

and

Prince John Lodge.

Has a nice ring to it.

They certainly look like royalty.
Stress, songloops and other things that make me crazy

Tis the season to go nutty! I haven't been anywhere to buy presents yet! Well at least anywhere that wasn't online. Yes a lot of people have packages coming from online vendors. So much easier than going to a mall, and less stupid people. And we all know that stupid people make you stressed.

Something about the mall at Christmastime; it makes people nutty. Suddenly everyone is forced to think about what other people like. Most people these days are so tuned in on "Me" that they don't know what anyone else likes. Which is why on Dec 26 everyone is back at the mall returning the crap other people bought for them.

Funny how a little bit more attention could save a lot of lines.

My problem is, I know what my friends and family like, it's having the money or the ability to get it. My sister is a rabid Scorpions fan. (Scary I know..but we have to live with her) My brother is a computer geek who likes Buffett and Shania Twain. (The stork brought him...I'm positive) All my problems could be solved with a gift certificate, but that seems so impersonal.

I think that's why people would rather buy something that would get returned than to purchase that little piece of plastic called a gift card. ARGH! The stress of it all.

Oh and don't you love it when a song gets stuck in your head? Most people get random songs in their head; something from the radio or something random. I get Moody Blues songs in my head. ALL THE FREAKING TIME!

For awhile it was Elvis Costello's Man Out of Time; particuliarly this line: "Love was always scarping or cowering or fawning. You drink yourself insensitive and hate yourself in the morning."

Now I get Lovely To See You, Gemini Dream and Talking Out of Turn. Odd songs. I only have to hear them once and Poof there they are, looped in my brain for the next 24 hours. Oh and don't get me started on Don't Need a Reindeer. Christmas songs aren't supposed to be that cute. (or stick in your head all damn day) Thanks Justin!

I'm sure you noticed my cranky poo rant yesterday. Allow me to explain before I turn into Lord Goddess Queen of the Dorkalope Bitches. I have a freind from one of my Yahoo Groups, (actually two) that just gets on my nerves. She's 2 years younger than me but acts about 10 years younger than that.

Worse still, she fancies herself a writer. I'll give her credit, she tries. Oh how she tries, but her writing falls flat. I've tried giving her pointers, and I kinda hope they work. I don't believe in telling anyone to stop writing if they love to do it. It's a madness.

Still there is nothing worse than having someone ask you if you liked something they wrote and you can't tell them the truth because you don't want to hurt their feelings. Which is why I beg the gods not to let her ask me to read any more of her stories. They kill me. I like romance novels. I'm sappy like that. I hate bad ones. Her stories are lower than Harlequinn novels. Old Harlequinn novels. Really old ones. Only she writes "spicy" love scenes. (GAG, Puke)

Have any of you ever heard the male organ referred to as a "wifebeater?" I always thought those were undershirts?

See this is why I'm crazy!!

I need to stop while I'm ahead. Or maybe I'm actually behind...who knows.

Mp3 Totals

I was cleaning up and organizing my hard drive today. I just checked the My Music folder in My Documents. The total? 2686 files in 272 folders. Most of the stuff on the hard drive is from my personal collection of CDs. I have almost all of the Moody Blues catalog on my hard drive for mix cd purposes as well as most of Elvis Costello's. (The Juliet Letters isn't on my hard drive at the current moment but North is...go figure)

As for pictures that's a sad sad case. I only have Moody stuff and Johnny Depp stuff remaining. The rest of my pictures are now on CDrws.

Right now

Justin Hayward - 986 files in his folder...countless more in to be moved
John Lodge - 279 files in his folder ...a few dozen to be moved. I weep in shame
Jays - 242 pictures that contain both Justin and John. (a few dozen that need moved there as well)
Moody Blues - Only 126 pictures of other band members or of the group together
Johnny Depp - 38, not sure why he's not on a disc.

Total pictures sitting on my harddrive - 1906 and 5 folders. I think I need to do some more cleaning. Mind you I have the pictures for the top of the blog here as well as my mix cd artwork. So it's not all Moody, but it's mostly moody. Perhaps that explains the temperment of my computer. MOODY!!
How to be annoyed

I'm easily annoyed it seems. In the past 24 hours I've been on a crash course to complete and utter annoyance.

Allow me to discuss a few of the things that have been getting on my nerves.

1. People that have the mistaken idea that they are my online chat buddy. I may converse with you in a yahoo group. I may share a funny email with you, once a millenium, but that does not give you the right to IM me everytime you turn on your computer. My IM friends know who they are. Most of you read the blog, and I lurve each and everyone of you.

2. I am not an editor. I don't want to be an editor. That's Linda's job and she knows I lurve her for it, even if I grumble and tease her mercilessly about it.

3. I read what I want. Please don't force me to read something that will make me cringe, puke or want to poke my eyes out. (I might also add all of the above) No, I don't want to read your uninspired boring drivel. (especially if its about some really pathetic musicians and if you try to write in a bit about someone like Mr. Costello when you know nothing about him, expect my wrath)

4. If I have another conversation where Krall or Mariemutt come up..and it's not the course of natural conversation, it's just to make me want to reach through the computer to kill you, I'm going to beat my head off the computer screen or just toss the monitor out so I don't have to see the stupidity

Ah, now that I've got that rant out of my system, I'm going to listen to Imperial Bedroom. Why? Cos I haven't listened to it in yonks..and I still love a Man Out of Time.
Seven

Yup a musical Seven for today, even though it should have been on Sunday.

Time for new flava in ya ear... (Recommend one song to your visitors from each of the following 7 categories)

1. A song by a new favorite - Stacy's Mom - Fountains of Wayne
2. A song by an old favorite - Shabby Doll - Elvis Costello
3. An oldie but goodie - Question - The Moody Blues
4. A shamelessly admitted favorite - Wouldn't It Be Good - Nik Kershaw
5. A sheepishly admitted favorite - It's Gonna Be Me - N'Sync (blushes)
6. A cover worthy of it's original version - You've Got to Hide Your Love Away - Elvis Costello
7. A holiday favorite - Don't Need a Reindeer - The Moody Blues and It Snows In Heaven Too - Annie Haslam

A new edition to the links section

I finally got around to posting the link to my fotolog over on the Linky Poo section of the blog.

I'm filling it with some of my episodes of greatness and other random stuff. I'm hoping once I get my digital camera I might be able to get some nicer pictures. At some point I should upload some of the shots taken a few years ago at the Hard Rock Cafe in Pittsburgh.

Can you believe they have a Siouxsie and the Banshees poster there, but I'm pretty sure no Moody Blues stuff! Allow me to grumble. They do have Lennon's leather jacket and some cute Beatles dolls.

Yes, I'm so easily amused. I'd really like to go to another Hard Rock to see what stuff they have there. Hmmm, now where can I go? My guess, Cleveland.

And now on world news tonight

I go to bed to a nice semi peaceful world I wake up to the news that Saddam Hussein has been captured. WOW! Does that mean the Shrub has done something almost right? My next thought is, "Oh shit, does that mean he's getting reelected?"

crap crap crap

Another thought, now that they have Saddam, maybe we'll really find out if there were Weapons of Mass Destruction. Yeh right!!!

Onto entertainment news...

David Bowie has recovered from the flu! Poor baby, I don't wish that on anyone. Ok, I do, but not any of my concubines, or even Britney Spears. Well maybe Britney.

Mmm I like this shot better

He looks in pretty good health to me. He must get the good medication! Glad he's feeling better. Glad my Justin didn't get the flu while he was in the States. (He just got a two week cold, poor baby)

Now if only Mr. Bowie was coming to Pittsburgh. (sigh) Of course he's not coming to Pittsburgh, no one does.

Man Out of Time continues

I'm not sure how many of you were reading this. I know a few of you were getting my email updates as I rewrote the story. I've finally got another update to send out. One problem.

I don't know who was getting the updates anymore. It's been over a month since I had the chance to work on it.

I'm now well into the chapter on Tristan.

So if you were reading the updates, please shout out below with the email you want the updates sent to, that would be great. If you want to read it and haven't do the same and I'll send you the document in Word then continue to email you updates.

You Don't Know What You've Got til it's Gone

I've been watching 60's Generation on Vh-1 Classic, while waiting for blogger to unbreak my blog (ha, I made a pun on a bad Toni Braxton song).

Like all decades there was some really fantastic music and some really bad music. OK, maybe it's more, some music that had to be listened to under the influence of the the 60's culture. (like while on LSD or something)

Two songs that fall under that category, Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy Man and The Small Faces' Itchy Coo Park. Maybe I'd get the proper effect if I listened to them under the influence of sinus medication.

Still there are some really great bands from the sixties.

The Beatles
The Monkess (for the eyecandy alone)
Herman's Hermits
The Doors
The Mama's and the Papa's
The Moody Blues (as if I would forget to mention the men of my dreams)
The Zombies
The Animals

Wait interesting factoid for non-Moody Blues fans here. Justin Hayward wanted to be a member of Eric Burton's Animals. Thank heavens not. He's much to good for that, and he was far to pretty to get stuck in a band full of pock marked men. God, the Animals were spotty! And Justin is so not spotty. I don't think the man ever had a zit in his life!!

See what I mean?

And we all know..of all the pictures of my young Moody Man..this is my favorite

And would you look at that sleeping Lodgey next to him, all cuddled up on his shoulder with the pillow. Justin I'm jealous of your shoulder!! Wait..couldn't I just put myself in their between him and Lodgey!! Mmmm a snuggle between the Jays.

On a Threshold of a Dream

All I want for Christmas is Justin Hayward and John Lodge in big red bows. Yup that's what I want, kiddies, now scurry off and find them for me. You've only got 13 days to nab em!

OK, if you can't do that, could you at least fulfill my one desire? Could you tell Elvis Costello that you can be blissfully (nauseatingly) in love and still be snarky? Just pass that little tidbit along to him would ya?

Ok.. with that little bit of venting out, allow me to move onto another fun topic, Coupling.

I've missed the past 4 weeks worth of episodes from Series 2. You know the series that costs 8 dollars more than the first if you want to buy it on DVD?

Jane and the Truth Snake is the best! It also helps that the episode ends with the ultimate idea...a threesome with Patrick and Jeff!! Mmmm that could be very nice very nice indeed. Toss Steve (aka Jack Davenport) into the mix and I'll go comatose thinking of it!!

All in all that was a good half hour of TV. Coupling very seldom disappoints me. I like drooling on Richard Coyle far too much to not like it. Speaking of my little Coupling sweetie, I think we need some pictures. You know to spruce this place up a bit. Still way too much ugliness on the blog this week. (First Marie(mutt) Hayward then Krallomort)

Unfortunely he won't be appearing in Series 4, as I found out from visiting his unofficial website.

Here's a link to the sad news.

I think my concubines are trying to see who can cause me the most pain.

Comfortably Numb

I will be so happy when Friday gets here. Just a mere 24 hours and I'll be able to catch up on my sleep. I am not a morning person. I never was. I never will be.

It doesn't help matters that it's been pouring down rain for the last 8 hours. Rain? WTF! This is December!!

Where is my December Snow? Not a lot of it, but enough to make me look out the window and go "Awwww, pretty."

OK, I'll compromise, if I can't have any December snow..can I at least have the man that sings about it? Mmmmm Hayward!

There's always a method to my madness, even when I'm half asleep at quarter to eight in the morning. Yes, I will find a way to think about Hayward even when I'm too numb and tired to do much else. I may even sneak in a thought about Lodgey, particuliarly thoughts about his bum.

It's good to know that I may not be completely coherent, but I am still alive.

Two Points for Our Side!!

My nephew, the bratling to those of you in the know, just came into my room to ask me a question.

Guess what he asked me?

"What song is that?"

To which I replied.."We Can Fly...it's the Moody Blues"

To which he replied.."Oh, I like it"

Snow balls are flying in hell!!

Go Justin....we may have a young convert on our hands...

Well a girl's gotta be able to dream right?

Are you ready to take your place in the modern museum of mistakes?

In honor of Diana (Miss Piggy) Krall(omort) and Mr. Elvis Costello's nuptials. (fuckers) I'm posting some lyrics.

How To Be Dumb

I was hell-bent on destroying my powers of concentration
While you were living like a saint
And all the time the very one you trusted was washing off
somebody else's paint
Now you've got yourself a brand new occupation
Every fleeting thought is a pearl

And beautiful people stampede to the doorway
of the funniest fucker in the world

They're here to help you
Satisfy your desire
There's a bright future for all you professional liars

Now you know how to be dumb
Are you ready to take your place in the modern museum of mistakes?
Don't you know how to be dumb?
Like a building thrown up overnight in one of those reverse earthquakes

They emptied out all the asylums, they emptied out all the gaols
The "New Bruise" was the name of a dance craze
By "Jesus Cross and the Cruel Nails"
Followed up by "Torturing Little Beaver"
With their contraption of barbed wire
Between the fear and the fever lies all the rejection they require
They'll be howling by midnight, they'll be drooling by dawn
Skulls shrunk down to the size of their brains
Heads shaven and shorn

Trapped in the House of the Perpetual Sucker
Where bitterness always ends so pitifully
You always had to dress up your envy in some half-remembered
philosophy

Now you're masquerading as pale powdered genius
Whose ever bad intention has been purged
You could've walked out any time you wanted but face it you
didn't have the courage
I guess that makes you a full time hypocrite or some kind of
twisted dilettante
Funny though people don't usually get so ugly till they think
they know what they want
Scratch your own head stupid
Count up to three
Roll over on your back
Repeat after me

Don't you know how to be dumb?
Are you ready to take your place in the modern museum of mistakes?

Don't you know how to be dumb?
Like a building thrown up overnight in one of those reverse earthquakes

Oh another one the new Mrs might want to take heed too

Baby Plays Around

It's not open to discussion anymore
She's out again tonight and I'm alone once more
She's all I have worth waiting for
But baby plays around
And so it seems I've always been the last to know
To hold on to that girl, I had to let her go
I wish to God I didn't love her so
'Cos baby plays around

I try to be strong hold on to my pride
She doesn't even know it's wrong, how much
I hurt Inside
And heaven knows I've tried
But baby plays around. just a plaything
It's hard to reconcile the facts I'm facing

It's not open to discussion anymore
She walks those shiny streets
I walk the worn out floor
She's all I have worth living for
Baby plays, baby plays around

She should listen to the song as done by Anne Sofie Von Otter, to get the proper effect.

And lastly to Mr. Costello, remember these lyrics. I put the important bits in bold type.

Episode Of Blonde

I spy for the "Spirit of Curiosity"
All the scandals of each vain monstrosity
I gossip and I pry and I insinuate
If the failure is great
Then it tends to fascinate

A tornado dropped a funnel cloud with twenty tons of rain
Though she had the attention span of warm cellophane
Her lovers fell like skittles in a 10-pin bowling lane
But nothing could compare with the explosion of fame

So you jumped back with alarm
Every Elvis has his army
Every rattlesnake his charm
Can you still hear me?
Am I coming through just fine?
Your memory was buried in simple box of pine

Did her green eyes seduce you and make you get so weak?
Was there fire engine red that she left upon your cheek?
It's such a shame you had to break the heart
You could have counted on but the last thing you need is another
Episode of blonde

Revolving like a jeweller's figure on a music box
Spangled curtain parted and night-club scene unlocks
Pinned and fixed and fastened in a follow spot
Arms thrown out to everyone, she's giving all she's got
To the last gasp of a wounded bandeon
Tiny man imploring to the ceiling fan
This stolen feeling
Amplified up through a busted speaker
Blaring, blasting, advertising, distorted beyond reason
Into the street where petty crime-coats shadow panic drunkards,
Half out of the taxi cab the barker seized my elbow
He thought I was another lonely, likely pilgrim looking for St. Telmo

I tried to keep a straight face but you know it never pays
He would stare into those eyes and then vacation in her gaze
She was a cute little ruin that he pulled out of the rubble
Now they are both living in a soft soap bubble

The film producer's contemplating, entertaining suicide
The picture crumpled in his fist, his runaway child bride
The timepiece stretched across his wrist
She couldn't care less cast aside
The scent that so repelled him that he swore: "insecticide"
And there's farewell note to mother
That will conclude "your loving Son"
"Oh, tell your other children not to do as I have done"

So an artist drags a toothbrush across the first thing that he sees
And names the painting "Christ's Last Exit into Purgatory"
Receiving secret messages from an alien intelligence
Paying off his stalker it's a legitimate expense
So paste up pictures of those shrill and hollow girls
With puckered lips
She's a trophy on your arm
A magnet for your money clip
The moral of this story is the sorry tale to say
They're pieced with links of chains so they can never run away

I hope you've clicked on the link in the first line of this post. It goes to show that Elvis is completely willing to toss his career to the dogs to sniff after his new wife's skirts. A good next album hardly seems likely.

I'm all for mature music, but ehm, jazz is not his forte, and Elvis in love is downright disgusting.

And yes I still wish them luck with a capital "F."

Many happy returns on your marriage Mr. Costello.

Where's my barf bag?

Pondering the Best Bums in the Business

Anyone that knows me, knows that I have a tushie fetish. Yup I like mens bottoms! Bet you didn't want to read that this early in the morning.

So I've decided to list my favorite bums. If I'm lucky I may even find pictures of those bums and post them here later. Cos I know you want proof of my insanity. (As though you don't have it already simply by reading this)

5. Andy Bell from Erasure

4. Johnny Depp

3. Richard Coyle (I wish someone would have screen captured his nekkid tushie)

Sniffle no one screen captured his bum!! WAH! Will his chest do?

2. Justin Hayward (His tushie is so elusive...but oh so grabbable)

1. John Lodge

Will You Guys Stop Marrying Ugly Blonde Chicks? PUHLEASE!

OK, I told myself I wouldn't really rant on Danny Elfman's marrying Bridget Fonda. Of all the wenches he's dated since he's divorced, she's almost a prize. I'm not sure if I'm even saddened at that. So I really wish them well, and hopefully she won't want children, cos goodness knows they'd be weird looking.

Now this whole Elvis Costello and Diana Krall thing is enough to turn my stomach. Of course that means he can start cheating on her now!! That does seem to be the way he operates. I mean he has cheated on his previous two wives. LOL. What a manwhore!

I still wonder why some people must defend him. I mean, I'd love to shag him, but loving him must be rough, cos it's inevitable that he's going to stray. A serious character flaw in my book. It's just a shame Cait has never been in the public eye, cos I'd love to know the real story on their divorce. Or do I?

One last rant. Marie Hayward looks like she's been dead for a long while. If you don't believe me...

For heaven's sake Justin, feed her, buy her clothes befitting her advanced age..oh and maybe put her in a nursing home. OK that was mean. Maybe just buy her a golf course in a land far far away. Sheeze, my concubine's really like em ugly.
Thank You

Someone sent me a 15 dollar Best Buy gift card. They didn't say who they were, they just did.

I lurve you!

I now have 25 dollars to spend in Best Buy. (cos I still have those rewards coupons I was rambling on about before)

Ah the things I can buy if I ever get to the mall. Hopefully I'll make it there sometime this week. (Cos I don't want to be near a mall on the weekends now...to traumatizing)

Oh and on another happy note, Earthlink called yesterday to tell me they'll be putting through the refund from the incorrect billing. I'll have my money back soon. Which means I'll be able to buy a few Christmas presents.

More Like I Need a Life

I've been working, kinda. Isn't that an odd statement? Working on what? Stuff and nonsense. Getting things put back together that fell apart about 3 months ago. This is going to take some doing.

I'm also finding my taste in music changing a bit. With the Moody Blues coming into my life, I'm getting into more of the Progressive Rock genre. I can't believe I'm listening to Pink Floyd. Mind you, I'm listening to 80's Pink Floyd, but still.

A few of my favorite Floyd tracks:

On the Turning Away
Learning to Fly
Comfortably Numb
Another Brick In the Wall
Wish You Were Here
Brain Damage/Eclipse

It's amazing what listening to one band will do to your taste in music. With Elvis Costello, it was Nick Lowe (and I still have so many of his CDs to acquire) With the Moody Blues, it's been Annie Haslam and now Pink Floyd.

I think I should perhaps get out more, except then I'll just be exposed to more music. I did get the new Matchbox 20 EP yesterday. Bout damn time I know. I need to get the new Cyndi Lauper CD too.

I haven't really bought any new CDs since the Moody Blues show when I bought the soundtrack for Journey to the Amazing Caves, that the guys are featured on. A week before that I bought the Annie Haslam CD, It Snows In Heaven Too. That's been it for my CD purchases.

How sad is that?

I can't make any mixes unless I have something new and wonderful to share. So a shopping I must go, and very soon.

Maybe I Need a Change

It just dawned on me that I haven't listened to much Elvis Costello in quite a while. I'd probably say only a song or two on occassion for the last month and a half. Crikey, it's amazing what not liking a record can do to a fan.

I don't even know what I want to listen to of his anymore. Not that I don't adore all of his other albums, except North.

I feel so guilty for not liking it. It actually gets worse for me after repeated playings. I don't even care for Still as much now.

Now December from the Moody Blues is opposite, I love it and each time I hear it I love it more. Perhaps I need to get out When I Was Cruel and listen to it over and over to remind me of why I love Elvis Costello.

It might work.

Or I might want to throw out all of his CDs. Right now I'm a little too scared to find out. I think I'll content myself with enjoying the song or two I listen to every so many days.

Life Can Be Like December Snow

We had our first snowfall last night. This is the first time in years that I can sit back and actually enjoy it. I can just sit here and gaze out the window at the fluffy white stuff on the ground and appreciate it for it's beauty.

Of course it's another excuse to listen to the new Moody Blues CD. I just wonder what I'm going to listen to after Christmas is over. As much as Justin says that this isn't a completely Christmas album, I'm hard pressed to find much that isn't holiday related. I guess I'll be listening to A Winter's Tale quite a bit. (In July) There's a possibility that Yes, I Believe will be a constant in my CD player as well. I wish there were more winter songs on the disc though.

I'm not saying this in a negative fashion either. It's just that I love this CD so much that I hate to put it away.

I hope that this new year will bring some bonus tracks on the reissues of 2 of Justin's solo CDs. Anything new I can get from Justin brings me such joy. I'm so glad I found this band again.

It would have been so nice if John Lodge would have done another solo album. Since meeting the man, oh so briefly, last month, I've come to appreciate him much more. (Even Words You Say) Yes, Lodgey!! I like Words You Say.

I think the world is missing something great in not hearing more of his voice. My Jays are so different, but so similiar. It's the spirit of romance that touches the two of them that gets to me. For a person that has little love for love...I'm a romantic at heart. It's partially because of these two wonderful songwriters that I'm that way.

It could just be that I don't believe that anyone could possibly love me or live up to the expectations that I have for love. Yes, I want the love thats in the stories I write. I'd rather not have it then settle for second best.

On that note..I'll leave you with a picture of my favorite celebrity couple

I keep borrowing this picture from John Lodge.com just because it's so cute. I'm amazed that John kept the ornery look off his face for a few pictures, but Kirsten made up for it. I just hope she's got a new dress, cos I'm so not found of that black number she had on. I also hope she adjusted those straps before she lost something. (which might have made her hubby smile)

Hugs to John and Kirsten Lodge for being such a cute couple...

Work More Work...and Talk more Talk

I spent a whole day trying to sort out the mess my boss made. ARGH! I will remain cranky and depressed until that gets sorted out.

Have you ever wanted to just run away? Just pick up your things and leave, but not really know where you were going?

I want to do that now...only if I left, I'd hurt too many people. Plus I wouldn't have much money to get me very far.

I week or so ago, I would have run off to any Moody Blues concert I could get too. I still wish I could, only there aren't any until spring now. (at least that's the rumor)

So where would I even go? Hmmm maybe Philly...or that general area...maybe New York...or Canada..Maybe just somewhere far away, where I could forget what a sad miserable life I have.

Love and Christmas Are All Around

There is entirely too much love going on around here. Everyone is blissfully in love with someone or something. I didn't know Love Actually was that powerful. Hmmm, it didn't have that effect on me.

And before you crucify me..I loved the movie. I cried for the last 10 minutes worrying the little boy wasn't going to get to say goodbye to his little girlfriend. Only I can't join in on the lovefest.

Why?

Too many people are in on the lovefest right now.

Danny Elfman just got married this past weekend. That would be on Nov 29th. Grumbles, but oddly I don't care enough anymore. I wish them a small amount of luck and stuff. I also hope they don't reproduce.

Elvis Costello is getting married in January sometime.

Oh and lastly

This is an article about Justin Hayward and his wife/zombie. Go ahead, click on the link, I dare you, but before you do take a barf bag with ya, cos Mrs Hayward has not aged well.

They've been married 34 years which is much too long in my book when one's spouse looks like they've been dead for a few years. Yuck!

I'm just thankful for this

Yeah...I'm bitter. Really all these things should not be happening in such a horrible time in my life. I've been out of work for almost 4 months and with that brings no money, which means you sit at home and think about stuff. Stuff that wouldn't linger all that much in your mind unless you have nothing else to do. You know..like I'm doing now.

Work? OH MY GOD what is that?

Among other things I did today, work was one of them. I was at my boss' house trying to sort through 3 months worth of paperwork. Can you say so not fun?

What I'd like to say to the boss is FOAD.

FOAD is an acronym meaning fuck off and die! Unfortunately since he's the man that occassionally hands over money to me I can't do that. I can think it. That is until I can find another job, in which case he'll be SOL. SOL is an acronym meaning Shit Out of Luck.

On a happy note, I saw the snippet of Justin Hayward on CBS This Morning on the Web. That man is just way too pretty for words. They let him sing about 2 minutes worth of December snow...don't know if he got to do the whole song on the show or not, but it was worth drooling at. No one can compare to him....in my eyes.

Back to the work stuff: I'll be working on Friday for most of the day it seems and I may actually be back at my regular job in a few short weeks. Happy Happy Joy Joy. I think.

Seventh Heaven

A little survey because my dsl has returned!!

01. What movie sequels do you like?

I liked the first 2 Batman sequels and MIIB but to be honest I can't think of anymore that I really love.

02. What will you never run out of?

Things to bitch about. Really there is something new everyday, just ask Foamy

03. Can you make someone love you? If you could would you?

Sadly you can't make someone love you. But if you could...allow me to say..Justin Hayward, John Lodge and Elvis Costello would be my love slaves...

04. Is everyday silent and gray like sunday?

Stop listening to Morrissey, he doesn't know shit! He just likes to mope. Not that he doesn't talk sense sometimes.

05. What do you think people are most ignorant towards?

Bad music. C'mon...so many people out there buying Shania Twain, Celine Dion, Britney, Christina...etc....that they have to be ignorant. There's so much more good music out there. Please listen to it...stop feeding the corporate giants!

06. What is it that makes you an interesting person?

You tell me.

07. Are you lonely?

Only when I have to stop and think about it. For the most part I prefer to be alone. Too many people and I start chanting, "kill....kill...kill"

On a happy note..

Stolen from Moody Mistress cos he's just so pretty. A shame he tosses the flowers after the show..or gives them away. But then again...what else can he do with em!
Ah Best Buy Loves Me....Kinda

In the past 3 days I've got two 5 dollar rewards from Best Buy. Well that equals a free CD or at least part of one! Squee! Or possibly half of the cost of the Erasure DVD. I still haven't found this DVD anywhere! Well besides online of course.

It's so nice to have a few extra dollars to spend. That doesn't happen very often I tell you.

Oh and so far..no luck on the DSL...but I don't think the bratling checked this morning..so I'm running on Dial up still. How aggravating, but there's nothing I can do about that.

So what have I been doing with the time I'm not online? Well I've sent out a few of the Christmas CD Cards. I've read about 4 books. Oh and the story I've been working on is now about 20 pages long.

At least I'm being productive or as productive as a person can be when there isn't anything to do. Someone please save me from the boredom!

My Brother, David Bowie and other Odd Things

More randomness from my miserable corner of the world. OK..My brother has really put the screws to me, when he tried to reset my DSL modem on Thanksgiving. You know when he kicked me off-line completely. Well after a zillion tech calls, and getting told that we wouldn't have service until Dec 2, I have a bill in my hands from Earthlink. Or rather a bill in my email. It's for 379.86. WTF!

Part of it is for Earthlink Wireless...uh I'm earthlink DSL....then Earthlink Dial Up...and wait there's more...Earthlink hardware!

All of this most likely because my brother fubarred my connection. I'm so not buying him a Christmas present.

Secondly..the weird dreams continued last night. That's allergy meds! This time I was dreaming about David Bowie. I'd much rather dream about the Moody Blues thank you very much. At least David Bowie was trying to save my life. I'm not sure from what but he was.

Thank you David.

I know there was other stuff to rant about, but I can't imagine what it is. Other than I miss my DSL..and I miss watching Foamy Rant at Illwillpress.com.

I Will Survive!

OK, Vh-1 Classic and their stupid Thanksgiving program is making me nutso. I think I prefer my own dysfunctional family to Dee Snider, Gloria Gaynor and Deborah Gibson! Have any of you seen this? Ms. Gibson had a neckline so low, Diana Krall was jealous!! I'm serious!! It was scary! Plus her lipstick was drawn on at least a half an inch above her actual lip!

The nice thing was they played a few good videos while it was on: The Damned's Shadow of Love (always good for a chuckle) and Wang Chung's Let's Go.

I've also come to a conclusion that some 60's music should only be listened to if you are on drugs. That has to be the only reason some people liked it. For instance Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy Man....uh...huh? What was that all about? Hey, maybe that explains Itchy Coo Park. Nah...nothing can explain Itchy Coo Park!

I'm a trifle sad, I had no further dreams about the Moody Blues last night. I was enjoying my nightly visits by the Jays. It was keeping me sane. Well maybe not sane, but at least amused.

I'm still on this blasted dial up connection as well. Which makes doing everything a bit obnoxious. Here's hoping it doesn't last more than the 2 more days they promised. I miss reading everyones blogs. :(

I'm even crankier than yesterday...but I'm still having those good dreams

I just want to thank Verizon for not getting our DSL line ready. How like them that is. This is the second time we've had to wait for our service to be ready! I hate Verizon...hate hate hate Verizon.

I have only 20 hours monthly to use for dial up! Eeeep! This is a huge problem. A huge huge problem. Which means you won't be seeing much of me around until this gets fixed. I'll be online long enough to rant about my netless misery and check email so my mail doesn't start bouncing.

GAH!

On a happy note, even cheap walmart sinus/allergy medicine produces good dreams. Yup, for three straight nights I was dreaming about the Moody Blues. Squeee! Pretty dreams of John Lodge! Justin was no where to be found. I wonder where he was hiding.

I can't figure out why John was fishing, or why he was trying to hook the raft I was on, but it was a cute dream. Hey, any dream with John Lodge or Justin Hayward in it is fine by me!

On a sad note: Today is the second anniversary of the death of George Harrison. I posted about him a few days ago, but I figured he deserved another mention. He was one of my first concubines and a musician I loved deared. His music brighted my days. There are many record shop employees that cringed when I came into their stores in the days prior to the release of Cloud 9. I pestered everyone for information on that one. The release date was pushed back at least 3 times. Thankfully the album was well worth the wait.

RIP

George Harrison

I still miss you

I'm tired sick and cranky...where are my moodies?

Long about 6 o'clock yesterday, we lost our internet connection. Thank you Earthlink, thank you very much. We are on limited dial up at the present time, until they get the situation fixed. They don't know when that will be.

It's like having life support pulled from you, I tell you. I'm internet dependant. I need a 12 step program!

So I'll be online for very small amounts of time. Which leaves me with time for other things..like putting up the Christmas tree, burning the Christmas card mix, burning some presents for a few online friends of mine, reading and possibly finishing up the first Christmas story about my moody men.

Oh and if you ever want to have wonderful dreams, take Tylenol Nightime Sinus...Oh the lovely things I saw in my sleep.

Happy Turkey Day

Happy Turkey Day

Just a few images to get you in the mood for the holiday. (or to giggle by..if you aren't American)

Oh and you should watch out for this bird!

Not a turkey..but rather pissed off that he might be considered a second choice for dinner!

If you don't know where you're going any road will take you there

I didn't want to start to think about George Harrison yet. Saturday is the 2 year anniversary of his death. Things like that don't usually mean much to me. What are you supposed to do? Have a happy death day celebration?

The problem started last night when Vh-1 Classic played the video for Any Road. It's such a beautiful video, showing some highlights of George's career. I was crying through the whole video. Today was Tuesday Twoplay on Vh-1 Classic and they played This Is Love and When We Was Fab, two of the singles from Cloud 9. At least I didn't cry through them. Quite a plus if you ask me.

I still mourn this beautiful and talented man

I can't find the words to say how much I miss him.

Holiday Cleaning and Holiday Music

I'm helping out around the house today, getting things cleaned up for the invasion of the family on Thursday. I'm also setting up the wagers on who starts the big holiday blow up. You know when someone pitches a tizzy making the holiday more stressful for everyone involved!

I have to tell you, I'm so looking forward to that! HA!

I also just realized that I have to burn everyone's Christmas Card CDs pretty darn soon! Eeep! I can't burn as many as I had wanted to, so any of you that get them, know that I love ya! Cos a certain concert took all my funds. I'm probably only sending out 6 or so..as opposed to the 15 I had originally planned on sending out.

Such is the nature of having very little money.

I have two mixes prepared...cos I think different people will appreciate different songs better. The main mix does have 2 Moody Blues Tracks, Don't Need a Reindeer from the new album December...BUY IT! and What Child Is This from the 80's that was recorded for a compilation.

The 2nd mix has the lovely John Lodge classic, The Spirit of Christmas that is also the title of my new holiday fanfic. Both CDS are ecclectic with artists ranging from Michael Crawford to the Damned's Captain Sensible, with a few other surprises thrown in as well.

I'll post the tracklists for both later today, after the great cleanup is finished.

My Musical Wish List

There are way too many CDs that I need right now. None of which I can get either until next month. I hate the situation I'm in. I hate not knowing what to do next. There's just so much I want to acquire and well this holiday is going to be tight money wise.

I promise I won't put a make a donation thing on the blog. Have you seen those? My god that's tacky! Please send me money!! It's so all about wrong that people have the audacity to do something like that. That some people might even be stupid enough to give them a donation freaks me out.

Eeep...I just interrupted my topic, which is more amusing. I was looking at my Wish List from Half.com and I realized how lazy I had been in buying the solo works of the Beatles. Half of Paul McCartney's solo catalog is there, as well as the discs with Wings. I'm still missing a few Harrison CDs as well.

On a happy note, I have completed the main portion of the Moody Blues collection.

Squeeeeeeee

Now all that's left is to someday hunt down the solo material by Ray Thomas, Graeme Edge and Mike Pinder. (Not too much of a Pinder fan myself so his efforts are last on the list) I already own all of Justin's solo albums..and John Lodge's Natural Avenue.

A note about John's one solo album. It's a bit odd, but in a good way. Which is kinda like John actually. Someone said it sounded disco-y, but I think they are wrong, it went on a lighter glam front. The song Street Cafe, which I adore, sounds like something Bowie would have written, only with a Harrison-like guitar part.

I do need to pick up the Gaia album, just to have Justin's On the Road on an actual CD. Plus it's supposed to be a beautiful album all around.

Back to the newer music front though. There's the Beatles - Let It Be Naked, Cyndi Lauper - At Last, Matchbox Twenty's EP, Madonna's new remix album, Delerium - Karma, Annie Haslam - An Enchanted Evening oh and the Club Bowie CD.

Here's hoping the family is kind to me this Christmas...

The best link ever

You really want to click this link.

You'll thank me for it in the end.

And after you thank me, thank Lesley for showing it to me.
10 Things I Hate

I'm leaving out the obvious things here, cos well..if you don't know by now that I don't like Diana Krall, Marie Hayward and Bridget Fonda...well I don't know what to say.

10. Authors and wannabe writers that use the same plot until it's beaten into the ground.

09. Formulated pop music. The reason why top 40 is crap and sounds the same. One day I'm going to hear something new on the radio and it's going to sound good. Yeah right!

08. People that don't understand away messages on IM or AIM. If I have a status message up that says I'm working on a story and you aren't someone I chat with on a regular basis,(Cheryl, Linda, Lesley,) or are a family member, leave me alone, I'm trying to do something.

07. People that have pissed me off and continuously aggravate me afterwards. If I stop visiting your blog, responding to your posts or emails, that means I'm not speaking to you. I deal with anger my way, you deal with it your way...unless it involves bugging the shit out of me...in which case...you'll only piss me off further.

06. The networks and cable stations moving my shows around so I have no clue when anything is on. I missed a week of BBC Coupling because of this..and it was a series 2 epi that I haven't seen! Grrrrrrr

05. Concert reviews. God how I hate them. Nearly all live performances are flawed. Concert reviews are useless, you either liked the show or you didn't. There really isn't anything in between.

04. Stupid idiotic journalists. Did you feel this one coming? I hate the morons that can't come up with an intelligent question for Justin, John, Elvis Costello, Duran Duran...etc. These are the people that annoy the hell out of me when I read magazines and newspapers.

03. People with piss poor communication skills. You know the kind that leave you in the dark about things for months and then expect you to be at their beck and call when they decide to pop back into your life.

02. Ticketmaster and any other outlet for concert tickets. I could be first in line for seats and still end up in such a place that I couldn't snap one blasted picture.

01. The people that follow bands around on all their tours, get good seats every damn time (ie: the first 3 rows) and take pictures. Oh wait..and when they take pictures they put their name through the middle of them, so the rest of the world can't enjoy the good fortune they had 30 times.

I feel much better now? How about you?
Question

Do we ever get an answer?

NO!

Does anyone ever ask the right questions?

NO!

I always marvel at the stupidity of the journalists that interview rock stars etc. They ask the same mindless set of questions over and over. It becomes robotic and I don't even want to read the interviews anymore.

Does everything have to be so predictable? This goes for talk shows too. They have the same set of 10 questions...that they ask ever damn time. They just modify them a bit for each performer.

I'm really sick of hearing Mr. Hayward tell the story of how the song Question was written. It bores me to no end. It was cute the first 5 times. Honestly, in the 40 years these guys have been in music, you could think of something more intelligent to ask them.

This goes for Mr. Costello as well. Only the questions asked him aren't about the music right now. GAH!

Yes I know he's getting married in January.

I'm happy for him...

Exceedingly happy for him.

(Look I'm doing a dance even...for his own happiness)

Oops..I probably should toss aside the Diana Krall voodoo doll I was stepping on, eh?

Still, I wish that someone out there would sit down and actually think about what to ask these guys. (And all the rest) Wouldn't it be great to read an interview that told you something.

I have any number of questions that would make a good Moody interview.

They have 40 years of musical experience to their credit!

40 years!

And people are still asking Justin about Question and EC has nearly 30...and they still want to know who the hell Allison is..and title the interviews..His Aim is True.

GAH!

Talk about mindless crap.

Time flies...

I waited for months and months for the 3 hours I spent in Youngstown OH last Sunday.

Last Sunday.

::sigh::

It's over.

It's not coming back.

They don't need a reindeer.

SOB!

Excuse me, while I ponder how the good things in life equal about a day and a half of my year and the bad things...well they get the rest.

Sure in the past 15 months I've had some great episodes with greatness, but the crap that followed really put a damper on them.

The Improv All Stars - Jeff and Chip (Two weeks after the worst employment fiasco of my life)

Elvis Costello - 3 days later I got the job at PRC working for the Expanets account. The job that nearly took all my sanity.

Eddie Izzard - The strange secretarial job that almost prevented me from seeing Eddie! ARGH! Thank god that didn't happen.

The Jays (Justin and John) - Yesterday the amazing disappearing boss resurfaces after a month of no communication.

Brad Sherwood was the only person that didn't have a nasty event following my meeting him.

I think I'll hang around Brad...he's apparently the safest..
