Monday Mambo

August 29, 1966 was the day the Beatles played their last concert in Candlestick Park. And since it's the end of August, it's time to wrap up the summer concerts.

So for a warm up let's take the letters C-O-N-C-E-R-T and being as crazy and creative as you can, tell us how you feel about live concerts, what you love and what you hate about them. Tell us how you really feel!!

Concerts in Pittsburgh, suck!
Only once have I had a really good time at one. That would be Elvis Costello in October of 2002 at the AJ Palumbo Center
Not only do the venues suck, but our security is a cross between Nazis and the KGB.
Club venues in Pittsburgh are almost nonexistent these days and the ones that are left are in areas with little parking.
Every concert here is plagued with drunks including the Moody Blues.
Really pathetic people have to get drunk to enjoy a concert. Why did they even bother paying for a ticket?
Totally crap! That's what Pittsburgh is when it comes to concerts.

1. Which 5 bands would you like to see the most in concert?
This should come as no surprise to most of you.

The Moody Blues (a few dozen more times)
Elvis Costello (He feels like I do about Pittsburgh)
Duran Duran (anywhere but Pittsburgh)
Erasure (I'd drive to Cleveland for them this time round)
Siouxsie and the Banshees (Siouxsie's on tour..but coming nowhere nearby)

2. Where's your favorite place to enjoy a live show and why?
Well, in the burgh it used to be a club called Metropol. Nice little venue, but it closed. As for venues I've been too, the Tropicana in Atlantic City and the Edward Powers Theater in Youngstown were probably the nicest.

3. If you could go back in time and see a concert that you missed, or that you weren't alive for, what show would attend?
I'd have to say the Beatles, since I'm allowed to travel back in time.

4. How do you rate you city for getting good shows to come through. On a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being excellent and tell us why you rated it that way.
Lady Starlight gave Pittsburgh a 1 and I tend to agree. Had some of our club venues stayed open, I would have given it a 2 or a 3, but nope, they are gone. Pittsburgh's venues are the worst in the country. I swear!

5. What band would you most like to see reunite and go on tour?
Can we get the Monkees back together again? All four of them for once. Oh that would be so nice. I miss the Monkees.
