R.I.P. Sands Casino in Atlantic City

At 6 a.m. this morning the gamblers on the casino floor were asked to leave and by noon all hotel guests had to be out of the building. The Sands is going to be demolished to make way for a new 1.5 billion dollar resort.

I feel sad that I never got to have the infamous 7.77 buffet.

I do feel good that there are loads of casinos in the development process. I love Atlantic City casinos. I'm not a gambler, but I like the atmosphere and the lights. It's something that can't be experienced anywhere in my area and I can't afford Vegas for another few years.

It's still sad to see a casino that's only 26 years old go the way of all things, but I must remind myself that there are better things in the works. Who knows what might pop up there in the coming years.

If only Atlantic City could become as reasonable as Vegas.
