Mike Pinder wrote that "Thinking is the best way to travel."
I think Mike Pinder should lay of the drugs! In all seriousness, it's good to think and let your mind travel to the places you want to stay, but it can't take the place of actually being there and experiencing it first hand.
And I've been thinking, maybe this year I'll take a few mini-vacations if I ever get things settled in my life.
I thought about a few other concerts I might see. Of course when I checked the dates, I groaned and realized that the one I really wanted to see was on Memorial Day weekend in CANADA!
See in my list of the best places to travel....I had chosen Niagra Falls. Cheap Trick just happens to be playing there March 28 and 29.
D'oh!
Oh and do you want to see where they are playing in Canada?
Casino Niagra
This would again be a wonderful place for me. Everyone knows how captivated I am by pretty lights and water! Niagra Falls definitely has both. I was only there once. OK, I drove through one time in 92 coming back from Toronto, but I can't remember a damn thing. There's a picture of me somewhere looking out at the falls from Canada. I think I was 6 or 7 years old then.
The next place on my best places to travel list is Erie, PA. Just in case you thought I was a rabid gambler, because I'm not. I just like the lights and water that surround some of the casinos in our area.
My brother used to live in Erie when I was little until I was in college. We used to vacation there and in Lancaster ever year when I was growing up. I haven't been to either place since 1993. I don't think I even have any pictures of either place to remind me. The only way I can travel there now is in my mind and that's kind of sad.
~ Longwood Gardens was another place I loved. I went back for the first time this past September. It's a beautiful conservatory that was once the estate of Pierce Dupont. And though there isn't a huge body of water, like one of the great lakes or the Atlantic Ocean, there is something that attracts me.
FOUNTAINS!
Fountains in the gardens at Longwood.
I'm going to try to get together a bunch of my photos of the fountains for the photoblog. Check over there later today.
Atlantic City can't possibly be left off this list. It's my favorite place in the world, and I long to go back. I want to see the waves on the ocean and walk the boardwalk...and see a concert...
The Moody Blues - Atlantic City 6/19/04
I can't remember if I posted that picture, but I know I haven't posted them all.
Oh and we all know the casino I love.
A view of the Tropicana
Now who wants to run away to one of these places with me?
