From Music Memoirs
Top Five things you want to tell/ask your favorite musician/band.
OK, so I'm sitting down to have a chat with Mr. Elvis Costello.
1. Mr. Costello, would you please do an album with your wife, not in the help produce or arrange kind of way. I mean in the two of you writing songs and recording and singing together kind of way. That would have awesome written all over it. On Diana Krall's The Girl In The Other Room, you can hear Elvis' influence all over it. I can only imagine and wonder how wonderful it would be if he were to lend a vocal or two to some of those tracks. Ah I would expire from the gloriousness!
2. Please rerecord Heart Shaped Bruise. I love Emmylou Harris, but that song wasn't really meant to be a duet and it sounded so wonderful in the years prior when you did it live. While you're at it, how about doing a version of There's A Story In Your Voice, sans Lucinda Williams.
3. Stop with the whoring of yourself out to companies like Lexus. That's really sad and pathetic. I don't care that you have the twins to put through college. You and Diana are better than that.
4. Why did you sell yourself out and become friends with the likes of Elton John? Elton is an extremely talented man, but he's also a nasty one. Since when did you become the type that wants to mingle with the rock n' roll elite? I mean besides Paul McCartney, and who wouldn't want to hop nob with him?
5. Write songs with Nick Lowe. In fact, he's another artist to collaborate with. Perhaps you, Nick and Diana could get together and get your snark on and come up with some really good tunes. Ah what a beautiful album cover that would be.
