Top 5 On Friday - Week 88

From Music Memoirs

Top 5 forgotten songs (ie songs with forgetting in the title or songs that seemed to have been lost over the years...or however you want to interpret it)

The Monkees - Forget That Girl
Not only does this have the forgetting aspect of the meme, but it's probably one of the only songs to appear in an epi that just isn't all that well known. This song is from the third Monkees album, Headquarters, which is the first album that the guys played their instruments on as well.

Unlike many prefabricated bands, and there have been many....they at least had talent and still do. They may not be stuff of Legends, but their music matters.

The Moody Blues - English Sunset
The first single (and that term is used lightly) from the Strange Times CD. Over the years, even the guys have forgotten this song, pushing it right out of the damn setlist.

Elvis Costello - ...This Town
The second single from the hugely popular Spike album. Mtv liked Veronica, but the song that had the fantastic and funny video gets ignored. How typical of Mtv.

Paul McCartney - My Brave Face
From the album Flowers In The Dirt, an album of Paul's that's hugely ignored, this single was co-written by Elvis Costello. This album was great. I care not for the people that slam it. The songs show a snarky side to Macca, and believe it or not that side really is Macca. EC has been quoted many times in saying that the parts of songs that you'd think he'd written were actually written by Paul. That alone should make you want to pull out this CD and give it a listen.

Duran Duran - New Moon On Monday
The second or third single from Seven And The Ragged Tiger (or as I like to call it 6 and the Ragged Monkey) it's so confusing, even I've forgotten. The video was way overdone and too expensive and though the song was a hit, it seems to fade in the woodwork. How wrong is that?

This is my last post until Sunday night, most likely! Atlantic City here I come!!
