Come See The Chime Tower

I posted some more pictures from my trip last September to Longwood Gardens.

Take Me Back Tuesday

I can't believe we've been doing these for 10 weeks! This is the holiday themed/funny St Patrick's Day edition!

1. What 3 songs make you want to cry in your 'green' beer?
Grey Eye Glances - Angel (Something about this song makes me cry every time but I love it anyway)
Elvis Costello - You Left Me In The Dark. (Actually all of the album North makes me want to cry, but that's for totally different reasons than most of you are thinking)
Gerard Butler's version of Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera. Gerard is gorgeous, yes, but he can't sing and he murdered this beautiful song from that wonderful musical. His version of this song not only makes me cry in my beer, but it also makes my ears bleed!

2. Name at least one song that makes you want to get up and dance a jig?
The Pogues - Sally Maclennane (Almost any Pogues song can go in this category if you can deal with Shawn MacGowan's freaky voice)

3. If the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow would be filled with CDs...what would you find there?
Ah, the pot of gold would be filled with all kinds of goodies. It would be filled with all the Grey Eye Glances CDs including the uber expensive unreleased discs, Caroline Lavelle's A Distant Bell that I have been meaning to buy for about a year now, All 4 of Judith Owen's discs, the Japanese version of Elvis Costello's North so I can have the 2 wonderful bonus tracks.

I'm not through yet you know. I'd want the CD Singles for all the recent Erasure, Duran Duran and Elvis Costello singles that I haven't had the money for recently.

Oh and there would be some import Moody Blues CDs floating around in their as well as copy of the reissued Night Flight of Justin's that I have yet to buy.

It would be a very full pot, that's for sure. Oh and anyone who wants a copy of the songs mentioned in my answers for question 1, just leave a shout and I'll send em to you via You Send It!

The Best Way To Travel

Mike Pinder wrote that "Thinking is the best way to travel."

I think Mike Pinder should lay of the drugs! In all seriousness, it's good to think and let your mind travel to the places you want to stay, but it can't take the place of actually being there and experiencing it first hand.

And I've been thinking, maybe this year I'll take a few mini-vacations if I ever get things settled in my life.

I thought about a few other concerts I might see. Of course when I checked the dates, I groaned and realized that the one I really wanted to see was on Memorial Day weekend in CANADA!

See in my list of the best places to travel....I had chosen Niagra Falls. Cheap Trick just happens to be playing there March 28 and 29.

D'oh!

Oh and do you want to see where they are playing in Canada?

Casino Niagra

This would again be a wonderful place for me. Everyone knows how captivated I am by pretty lights and water! Niagra Falls definitely has both. I was only there once. OK, I drove through one time in 92 coming back from Toronto, but I can't remember a damn thing. There's a picture of me somewhere looking out at the falls from Canada. I think I was 6 or 7 years old then.

The next place on my best places to travel list is Erie, PA. Just in case you thought I was a rabid gambler, because I'm not. I just like the lights and water that surround some of the casinos in our area.

My brother used to live in Erie when I was little until I was in college. We used to vacation there and in Lancaster ever year when I was growing up. I haven't been to either place since 1993. I don't think I even have any pictures of either place to remind me. The only way I can travel there now is in my mind and that's kind of sad.

~ Longwood Gardens was another place I loved. I went back for the first time this past September. It's a beautiful conservatory that was once the estate of Pierce Dupont. And though there isn't a huge body of water, like one of the great lakes or the Atlantic Ocean, there is something that attracts me.

FOUNTAINS!

Fountains in the gardens at Longwood. Posted by Hello

I'm going to try to get together a bunch of my photos of the fountains for the photoblog. Check over there later today.

Atlantic City can't possibly be left off this list. It's my favorite place in the world, and I long to go back. I want to see the waves on the ocean and walk the boardwalk...and see a concert...

I can't remember if I posted that picture, but I know I haven't posted them all.

Oh and we all know the casino I love.

Now who wants to run away to one of these places with me?

Sunday Randomness

~ Russ got to see Jonny Lang and Keri Noble this weekend! I'm so excited that there's someone else who now appreciates Keri's beautiful voice!

I wish that tour was making it to Pittsburgh, I'd love to see her!

~ Someone came here yesterday via a search for Moody Blues Photos and Names?

Ok!

Just in case that rabid googler would show up. Here we go.

Justin Hayward - Guitars and vocals
John Lodge - Bass (OK, guitars) vocals
Graeme Edge - Drums and odd poetry!

former members

Ray Thomas - Flute, percussion and vocals
Mike Pinder - Mellotron and vocals.

And well...I have to give ya a picture.

~ Got my Deluxe Edition of Elvis Costello's The Delivery Man yesterday! Yay! Actually double yay, because it has the bonus cut, She's Pulling Out The Pin that was only available on the UK and Japanese versions of the CD.

~ CD Baby had Grey Eye Glances' A Little Voodoo for 9.99! Guess who's going CD shopping very soon?

Beatles Covers!

At the request of Brian, I've finally come up with a decent mix of Beatles cover tunes. I can't say this mix is one of my favorites or that I had fun making it. I can say it's given me a headache!

The mix is called A Crime Against Nature. If you click on the mix title, you'll go to the page with the track list of the final mix. It runs about 68 minutes, which is probably the shortest mix I've ever done. I usually like them to fill an 80 minute CDR.

This time, no way.

I've listened to more Beatles covers in the past few months than I ever wanted to.

I hate most of them. They are to me, a crime against nature. I do think that the 18 tracks that I chose are pretty close to the cream of the crop, though I did toss 2 or three oddities on there, for spice. The oddities being covers that I'll never listen to again, but aren't bad, more that they are a different take on the originals.

Moody Mistress, expect an email with Diana Krall's And I Love Him. I feel like torturing my friends!

Best cover on the mix? Props to Joe Jackson for his live version of Eleanor Rigby...which is gorgeous.

Worst cover on the mix? Fiona Apple's cover of Across the Universe. I just don't like Fiona, so to me that one grates on my nerves. But since she's well liked amongst the musical elite, I included that one.

Most ecclectic cover? Whitesnake's Day Tripper. You've got to hear it to believe it.

Prettiest? Justin Hayward's cover of Blackbird. (I've heard more covers of Blackbird than I ever wanted to...and IMO, Justin's is as good as the original)

So submitted for your approval, Brian, A Crime Against Nature!

Cabin fever has got me bad!

Get me out of the house now!! Take me somewhere! Anywhere! Anywhere but here!!

If possible I wouldn't mind being here:

Especially if it were warmer than it is in my little hamlet of Charleroi on Mon. Sadly I don't think that's the case.

Though the ocean may likely look like it did when I saw it last. Back in September when the Ivan rains were coming up the coast.

It's been a hard days night....

And I've been working...

Yeah, that's what I've been doing. Working the full 9.5 hours is kinda odd, but I enjoy it. It only happens when the morning girl is sick or can't make it in. Today was a bit of both, courtesy of a snow storm that didn't quite make it here. Not that I'm complaining, I always enjoy extra money! Who doesn't like that?

It's funny though, this 9.5 hours really saps my energy, but when I worked 12 hours when I was a retail manager it didn't bother me at all. But then again that was a few years back. Maybe I'm just getting old, I don't know. It just seems weird.

But again, who cares if I'm tired. I don't, cos I'm going to have a decent paycheck and I may be able to splurge on a few of the things I've been wanting! (Grey Eye Glances' Eventide being one of them)

Next weekend I'll get some "Me Time" finally. Assuming of course, that it doesn't snow. My dear friend, Jennifer and I will be heading off to Wheeling Island for the day on Sunday. Ah yes, fun, a small bit of gambling (like 10 bucks!) and buffet! So much for the lost 3 lbs!

I'm really looking forward to it. And by next Sunday I'll probably need it!

Top Five On Friday

One more musical meme. By now you're probably sick of seeing them, and I promise a real post after I finish off my last 4 hours of work tonight. M'kay? Promise you won't beat me?

Thank you

We had an either or/or both or all three if you were silly enough to do the third part of my meme this week.

Top five songs by Irish artists/or songs with an Irish/celtic feel to them.

1. Elvis Costello w/Anuna - Long Journey Home: Just a gorgeous song. I don't think I know anyone that's heard it and not loved it.

2. Mary Fahl - Going Home: The former vocalist from the band October Project. This song is simply beautiful.

3. The Moody Blues - Highway: Ok, no one there is Irish, but they do have bagpipes in the song, giving it a Celtic feel.

4. Grey Eye Glances - Take My Heart: I can't whore this band enough. There is a distinct Irish feel to this song. Like everything they do...it's fabulous.

5. Enya - Anywhere Is: No list of Irish music could be complete without Enya!

And for the second part of the meme

Top five silly songs.

1. George Harrison - Crackerbox Palace: Love George showing off his silly song. The video is great too, with members of the Monty Python crew helping out!

2. Monty Python - Every Sperm Is Sacred: A bit sacriligious, but a hilarious take at the Catholic Church from the Meaning of Life film.

3. The Damned - The Turkey Song: A hilarious minute of music that will make you look at turkeys a bit differently.

4. Red Dwarf - Tongue Tied (Smegmix): A song done by Danny John Jules and the rest of the cast for the Red Dwarf Series! Great song! Silly and fun!

5. Oingo Boingo - Don't Go In The Basement: Another minute or so of pure fun!

I'll post the song links to the last five when I get back from work this evening.

The Devil Made Me Do It!

It's time for another musical meme, which was passed on to me from Fallen, who got it from Elena.

What five bands/artists (past or present) would be your ideal concert line up and why?

First opener would be Grey Eye Glances because they are a great modern progressive band. There songs are gorgeous and the vocalist is one of the best female singers I've heard.

Next opener would be Erasure who have been a favorite of mine since the early 90's. Their music can go from upbeat to ethereal in a matter of seconds and Andy Bell has the most heavenly voice out there.

Following Erasure would be Duran Duran who will be pissed that they aren't getting top billing, but they will deal with it. I wish I could have seen them this tour, but alas that was not meant to be, hence they are on my dream line up.

Next would be Elvis Costello. He's my one really rock act. And I don't need to answer why I've chosen him. Everyone knows I love him and his music!

The headline act would be....

are you ready for this?

really?

OK

Tony Orlando and Dawn!

No...Just joking! Bet I had you fooled for a minute or two, right?

Nah! I didn't think so.

The headliner would be The Moody Blues and I'd make them put on a real show, as opposed the sad pathetic set they perform on their current tours. Two hours of music guys. Work it Moodies! 5 more songs! It wouldn't hurt ya! Paul McCartney plays 2.5 hours!

(This is where I mutter about The Moody Blues being a bunch of lazy stud muffins)

Pick an artist/band and select five songs. Why are these your five favorite songs?

Ok, shall we go for something different?

Duran Duran
What Happens Tomorrow from the album Astronuat: Simon's best songwriting in a long while. Anyone can appreciate this one, not just die hard fans.

Like An Angel from the single My Own Way: Just a gorgeous ballad. This is one of the many b-sides that should have been on the album, in this case Rio.

None Of The Above from the Wedding Album: This little known single is another great example of Simon writing well, and almost making sense, which he seldom does.

Electric Barbarella from the album Medazzaland: The only good song from Medazzaland, but one so good you can almost forgive them the rest of the crap. It's great cheesy fun dance music. Its a hard song to hate, and it's a hard song to get out of your head.

I Believe/All I Need To Know from the single All She Wants Is: The second best b-side ever. This one is even better than the A-side, of course the A-side sucked in my opinion.

Which five songs have unpleasant associations and why?

I don't really have songs that I associate bad things with. I can say that Journey songs make me cringe because I had a boyfriend that loved them. David Bowie doesn't sit well with me after a bad concert experience. But other than that it would just be because I don't like them.

Which artist/band was your first crush?

The Monkees, or rather Davy Jones.

Stop! Laughing! Now!

How many albums/CDs of this artist/band did you buy?

Everyone of them, and on vinyl, cassette and CD. I'm a loyal fan. I always was. I always will be.

Did you ever see him/them in concert?

Yes! Twice on the 20th Anniversary Tour. Once on the Justus Tour. Once at the Ribfest in Pittsburgh. I might have seen them one other time, but I'm not sure.

Do you still have memorabilia of them?

Yup! T-shirts, CDs, posters, the Who's Got The Button Book and 2 songbooks. Not to mention scads of buttons and stuff like that.

Now for the people who must do this.

MoodyMistress because she's seen Elvis Costello twice on this tour.

Lady Starlight for not remembering to find Ticketmaster's phone number so we could be going to Atlantic City next month.

Kristy because I said so!

My 15 minutes of fame

OK, it's not 15 minutes and I'm not famous, but hey, my picture is going to be in the newspaper! Woot!

Someone from the local newspaper is doing an article on the place that I work for, so yesterday was picture day for that article, and guess who got her picture taken?

Yeah! Me!

And that uber expensive digital camera that I was practically drooling on didn't break!

Yay again!!! I think. If the picture is in black and white, Yay! If it's in color, boo!

But anyway, I'm kind of amused by the whole situation. If I can get the scanner to work on my other computer, I'll post the picture for amusement purposes alone. (Assuming of course that I get a copy of the paper that day)

I can't get enough of your love baby...

I've been thinking of the things that I just can't get enough of. Lordy but there are lots of them (Yes, more then the Moody Blues and Elvis Costello! So there!) So I thought I'd compile a list. Yes, a list! (You know I love those)

~ Cheesy romance novels. I abosultely live for these things. They aggravate me and at the same time make me wish that life were like the printed page. I go through Harlequinns like cartons of milk. Sweet simple fantasy, I love it.

~ Music. That had to be on here. And like I said, it's more than just one or two artists. Granted there are some genres I can't stand, but I'll give most anything a shot. (even an occassional boyband)

I don't quite grasp the people that only listen to one thing, be it a band or a genre. I need diversity. I like musicals, symphonies, pop, rock, a bit of everything really. It makes life exciting.

~ Concerts. I can't get enough of them, but this year they are out to get me. So far, no one is coming at the right time or in the right place. I do like to go to at least one a year.

Oh and since I'm feeling more than a bit jealous and snarky, please don't tell me about them just now, wait til I'm in a better frame of mind, because there are two bands I'm missing that are making me very very sad.

~ Photography. I love snapping pictures. But I'm very picky about what I take pictures of. (Again...its more than just the Moody Blues) I'm partial to pictures of pretty lights and water.

Oh and the occasional Merry Go Round

Like this one at the Steel Pier. Posted by Hello

~ Good food. Which is why I'll probably always be a dieter. I love good food and finding new restaurants. My current favorites are Red Dawgs Sports Bar and the Qdoba Mexican chain. Yummy!

Oh and by the way..this girl has lost about 5 lbs! So yippee skippy!

So tell me, what things can't you get enough of?

Take Me Back Tuesday

It's time for the first of the two music memes for the week. If you want to play along, just hop on over to Music Memoirs and leave a comment once you post your answers on your blog, or leave them in the comments section there.

1. What decade to you shaped your musical taste and why?
The 1960's, definitely. I wasn't even thought of then, but it was the first music I really loved. I loved the Beatles since I was 5 and they opened the door to so many other bands for me. OK, and the Monkees. Hey! I was 5! What 5 year old couldn't love Davy, Micky, Peter and Mike?

2. What song best defines the decade that you chose.
The Beatles - All You Need Is Love
Could there be a more perfect song? I think not.

3. What is your favorite song from that decade. (If it's the same as your answer for number two..tell us why)
I will feel guilty for not picking a Moody Blues song (really guilty). So I'm going to pick 2.

The Beatles - Nowhere Man (which is my signature song)
Best song ever in my book.

The Moody Blues - Ride My See Saw
Best Lodgey Song from the Core 7 albums. Ok, that and I'm Just A Singer In A Rock N' Roll Band. BTW..who was the loser that decided to call those albums the Core 7. I'd like to beat them with a stick.

Stop with the new CDs!

I'm starting a list of albums I need to buy. Which is getting very long. Very long indeed!

I was perusing CD Baby again today and found that Judith Owen has a new CD. ARGH!

Go to the site and check out the free mp3 and the video. She has a marvelous voice.
I now need 4 of her CDs!

Rob Thomas has a CD out on April 15.

Can I tell that face no? I don't think so. Plus I adore the new single, Lonely No More. Unlike some frontmen that do solo projects between albums for their own bands, Rob sounds like he's done something different.

Oh and then there's a little matter of this:

.

Yeah I need it. Ok, I don't, but Justin, John and Graeme really need my money. I mean they need it more than I do.

We won't even discuss the other things I need. But let's just say I have yet to buy one Grey Eye Glances CD, and that needs to be remedied very soon!

Sunday, March 06, 2005

Well I bought it!

Bought what you ask?

This.

Because you know I really need it.

Really!

Oh and for a live video clip of There's A Story In Your Voice clicky here.

Best part of this clip, Lucinda Williams isn't singing with him!

Praise be!

I hated her vocals on that song. Liked the song until her gravelly voice started.

PAH!

Have I mentioned that this is not one of my favorite Elvis Costello CDs?

I feel compelled to be nicer to it, since I truly did not like North. (Even though parts of it have started growing on me like a bad fungus)

Anyway even on the Clarksdale Sessions (Which is the bonus disc) I still can't get the song She's Pulling Out The Pin.

Someday when the money comes in, I'll buy all the imports that I need.

Someone get me away from the computer!

Yvonne! Bless your heart, if you're reading this! I spent an hour playing with the newest Justin clip.

The clip is of The Tracks Of My Tears. It's droolworthy. Very droolworthy.

Now if only there were some good clips of John Lodge! I'd do a happy dance. But until then, let's drool on screen shots of Justin Hayward, shall we?

And finally...A NOSE CRINKLE!

Image hosted by TinyPic.com

Get this song out of my head!

How many times do you listen to something and find it returns a half hour later, to loop around your brain?

Many times I'm sure.

Half the time it's probably a song you don't even really like.

Other times it's a song that just wants to torture you a bit longer.

It's worse when it's a song you don't really like. It sucks to get that damn N'Sync song in your head. And how often is it a song by a band you like.

Not too often I tell you. Unless it's Send Me No Wine or Vintage Wine. Shoots evil glares in the general direction of John Lodge and Justin Hayward. (Double evil glares to Justin for that damn Reindeer song)

How many times can I rant on this subject, you ask.

Many many times, I tell you! Because this happens all to often. Most recently the song Knock Three Times by Tony Orlando has taken up residence. That's just so wrong on so many counts, but the damn thing is just so darn cute and catchy! ARGH!

It's funny sometimes which songs stick in your head though.

Here's a few songs that have danced with the cobwebs in my head.

Nick Lowe - Rose of England
Elvis Costello - Tart
The Moody Blues - Lovely To See You
Duran Duran - New Moon On Monday
Erasure - Don't Say Your Love Is Killing Me
George Harrison - Got My Mind Set On You.

So what songs have taken up residence in your head lately? Oh and as always, if you'd like any of these songs...let me know and I'll do that You Send It thing.

New computer programs...

And the fun that ensues.

My brother the ever wonderful LJSilicon, brought me a present today when he stopped by for a visit.

What was it?

DVD Software for my computer with screen capturing abilities!

SQUEE!

So I pulled out some of my Moody Blues DVDs...bootlegs and legit stuff and started to screen capture a few things.

The most fun came from doing Justin Hayward's The Way Of The World video.

(lovely profile isn't it?)

Later on I might try to do some screen shots from John's Street Cafe and maybe Blue World. Oh the things I'll screen capture!

101 Things To Do With Justin Hayward

Get your minds out of the gutter! No wait there may be a few naughty things on this list. It is inspired by this Duran Duran website I found yesterday.

1. Steal his aquanet and refuse to give it back until he puts Never Comes The Day back into the set list.
2. Force him, at gunpoint if necessary to sing a few more showtunes. We've all heart This Is The Moment, we know he could do it.
3. Steal his ugly pink shirt

and refuse to give it back, until he lets John Lodge have one more song in the show.
4. Cover him in whipped cream and chocolate sauce and lick it off.
5. Put reindeer antlers on his head and start singing Don't Need A Reindeer until he admits that he really needs a reindeer.
6. Ask him how many times he's used "Days of Future Past" as a lyric in his songs.
7. Put eyeliner on him and see if you can recreate the "The Other Side Of Life" look.
8. Ask him to be your knight in white satin.
9. Go through his wardrobe and find out how many white shirts he really has. (And burn all the pink ones)
10. Make him teach you how to ride. Devil 3
11. Ask him if he's named any of his other guitar's besides Ole Red.
12. Play dress up with him, and take lots of pictures.

13. Feed him tiramisu so he doesn't look so scrawny.
14. See if he can stretch those long leggies of his inside your parent's 1992 Ford Escort.
15. Get him on the twisty thing from Curves and see if he can balance.
16. Make him wear leather pants again. (And not with ugly vests!)
17. Cook dinner in only an apron.
18. Be dinner (you knew that was coming right?)
19. Make him go "Deep" (you saw that one coming too)
20. Take him casino hopping in Atlantic City, Vegas and Monte Carlo and make him give you his winnings.
21. Make him sing "I'm Sorry" from Night Flight and giggle hysterically when he sings "lopsided lovin' got me in the end."
22. Tickle him and see if he laughs like he did on the BBC radio show "Jammin."
23. Ask him the inspiration for Nights and White Satin and see if he screams.
24. Ask him why the Moody Blues only put out an album once every Moody Blue Moon!
25. Make him do another song for Annie Haslam. This time it can be a real duet.
26. Tie him face down to the bed, nekkid and announce that you're looking at his "bum!"
27. Make him do a strip tease.
28. Ask him what the hell happened to those rings.
29. Make him explain "Isn't Life Strange" for all the times John Lodge has had to explain "Nights In White Satin"
30. Go clothes shopping in NYC, Paris, London and Milan....and make him foot the bill. Hell let him buy a few things for himself..as long as they aren't pink.
31. Find out if he can still fit in some of his clothes from the 60's.
Like this:

32. Ask him what the hell the video for "Blue World" was supposed to be about.
33. Get him inside a pickup truck and see if he still looks as ridiculous "Sitting At The Wheel" as he did in that video.
34. Invite Graeme and John over and only talk to them, while recording all of Justin's bored looks. Play them back for him later to embarrass him.
35. Teach him how to shake his groove thang.
36. Explain to him what a groove thang is.
37. Send him back in time and make him be a real Troubadour
38. Get him to stop bitching in his updates on Justin Hayward.com
39. Remind him that there are 2 other band members in the Moody Blues.
40. Get him to call Bernie Barlow and beg her to return to backing vocals.
41. If that doesn't work, make him do it in person, on hands and knees. (Video taping it for the world to see)
42. Make him sing "Fly Me High" and any other early songs from his career that he can remember.
43. Stand him in the middle of a mall and see how many women stop, stare and drool.
44. Feed him Godiva truffles and make him lick the chocolate off your fingers.
45. Make him record a message for my wonky cell phone.
46. Let you take all the nekkid pictures of him that your digital camera could stand.
47. Invite John Lodge to the photo shoot, and let him join in. (mmmmmm)
48. Ask him to define "The Hayward Charm"
49. Then ask him if there's a difference between the Hayward charm and the Hayward jewels and can we see it.
50. Make him answer the question "Boxers, Briefs or nothing at all?" and then prove to us his answer is correct.
51. Make him the new Phantom of the Opera. (sing my angel of music!)
52. Take him to the Tiki Lounge in Pittsburgh and get him drunk (and take him to the cubby in the lower level bar and have your way with him)
53. Let him hide inside your "Sweet Sweet Love" forevermore.
54. Get him to make up nonsense lyrics to as many Moody Blues songs as possible.
55. Take him to Phipps Conservatory and make him stand on the top of the mountain in the discovery garden while singing Silverbird.
56. When he walks into a room, have everyone sing Lovely To See You too him.
57. Find out if guitargasms and orgasms produce the same expressions.

58. Ask him if humping his guitar during "Question" is better then sex.

59. Make him show you his natural hair color.
60. Make him explain every song he's ever written in detail.
61. Make him do the nose crinkle.

62. Make him sign a few autographs and then look at his signature and remark that you thought his last name was spelled "Heyward" or "Haywood" and see if he blows a gasket.
63. Point out the Whoosh of a star on the December album cover that he obviously missed, when bitching in Dec 2003.
64. Get Vintage Wine stuck in his head.
65. See if he can cut a cake all by himself, and not look like he's cutting into a rock.

66. If he can't cut it, get John to help him, instead of standing there looking like an idiot.
67. Teach him how to use a phone properly, so he can instruct the band later.

68. Throw away all his purses!

(and have him tell John to stop playing with his manboobs)
69. Sixty-nine! (Did you think I'd pass that opportunity up?)
70. Make him model swimwear. Even if it is pink.

71. Show him pictures of himself from the early 80's. Fall over laughing.
72. Make him "Say it with love"
73. Make him say a few choice four letter words, so that you can giggle.
74. Ask him why his wife isn't cute, like Kirsten Lodge.

75. Make him promise not to wear white shoes ever again.
76. Ask him why Universal is a bunch of cheap ass bastards and won't get the reissues out.
77. Ask him why he hasn't done another solo cd since the late 90's. Not as if the Moody Blues were in the studio working hard in all that time.
78. At noon on Tuesday start singing Tuesday Afternoon to him and see if he cries.
79. Teach him dirty dancing.
80. Calvin Klein ads (Nothing comes between him and his Calvin's)
81. Ask him for sex tips! Make him teach you! (This one is stolen from the Simon list)
82. Make him play Nights In White Satin on the sitar.
83. Have him arm wrestle John Lodge to see who is king of the band.
84. Make him play Higher and Higher without giving Graeme squirrelly looks when he riverdances/bumps and grinds/chicken dances across the stage.
85. Dress him up as a robber (A'la the Paul McCartney song from Tug of War)
86. Encourage a songwriting partnership with Elvis Costello.
87. Make him let out his inner snark. (We know he has one.)
88. Get him to dress in drag!
89. Duet with Andy Bell of Erasure.
90. Do a video for Don't Need A Reindeer.
91. Convince him to divorce that ugly skank that he's married to.
92. Get him to record Classic Blue 2
93. Threaten him if the Moody Blues don't tour the east coast (specifically Atlantic City and the Pittsburgh area), you'll make sure he never tours or has sex again.
94. Make him do Kareoke at Primantis after a few pints.
95. Play strip chess with him.
96. Let John play Words You Say on tour and then make him promise not to look bored or fall asleep during the song.
97. Make him drink a whole bottle of Krisemma wine. See how drunk he gets. (Take advantage of him accordingly)
98. Find out who's idea it was to hire the backup tarts, when the band did not need backing vocals. Then beat that band member with a stick.
99. Two words: Fuzzy cuffs
100. Give him a pedicure...and tickle his toes.
101. Repeat all 100 as needed.

It's been a long long week

And I'm feeling it. Oh am I feeling it. So I decided to treat myself. I went over to BMG and ordered the Mary Fahl CD - The Other Side Of Time.

Yay for me. I still need to order the Grey Eye Glances CDs.

I have such a long list of CDs I want to buy. It's ridiculous. I figured I deserved a treat this week. I've shoveled more snow and worked more hours than I have in almost a year.

Unbelievable I know, but I've had a run of bad luck with jobs lately. I finally have a job that's really enjoyable, where I get to talk to people and have fun. It's great. It would be perfect if it paid just a bit more. But for now I'm happy and trying to pull myself and my life back together.

Something good will come of this. I'm sure.

Oh and I found a funny Duran Duran website...that's inspired me to do something ornery with Justin Hayward. (But you'll see that later)

Top Five on Friday ...erm Thursday

I posted my meme early. So I'm doing it early.

If you want to share you're Top 5's go over to Music Memoirs and leave a comment. That way I know that you played along. Won't ya do it? For me? Pretty please.

Here's this week's Top Five.

Top 5 Duets

1. Paul McCartney and Elvis Costello - You Want Her Too
I always envisioned these two singing this song about Linda McCartney. I'm not sure why. It's a wonderful song, and one of my favorite tracks that came out of the McCartney/MacManus collaborations.

2. Ann Wilson and Robin Zander - Surrender to Me
This song came off the soundtrack to the horrible film Tequila Sunrise. It's the only good thing about the film too. The soundtrack contains a great Duran Duran song as well as one of Andy Taylor's solo offerings.

3. The Pogues featuring Kristy MacColl - Fairytale Of New York
This is in my top 10 list of Christmas songs. Absolutely hilarious.

4. Justin Hayward and Sally Oldfield - Let It Begin
I'm not sure why I picked this one for my top five, except that Justin's involved. It's a really pretty song. I like The Angels Cry that Justin did with Annie Haslam better, but he only did backing vocals on that one. This is an actual duet, and it's a pretty one too.

5. Sarah McLachlan & Jewel - A Song For A Winter's Night
One word - Gorgeous.

Honorable mentions would include: Elton John and Kiki Dee - Don't Go Breaking My Heart and Cher and Peter Cetera - After All (I don't know why I like this song, it's really awful)

More Random Thoughts

~ I'm not working this morning! My tired fat butt is very happy about this. I usually do things for my parents and grandma during the day, before my shift and because of the snow, my to list is growing and the time I have to do it in is shrinking.

~ I'm still on a quest for good Beatles cover songs for that mix I'm making. I'm so close to finishing it. I'm glad there haven't been too many Moody Blues covers out there.

Oh and as for that Tribute called The Moody Bluegrass.

MY EARS!!

If a band covering a song is a compliment, I'd hate to hear an insult.

~ Have you ever wished you could give something to someone that you barely know? Ok, mind's out of the gutter! I was listening to more of Grey Eye Glances' Eventide. (A blogger friend sent me a bunch of mp3s) I really think that Justin Hayward should listen to them. Don't ask me why, but when I heard the song Angel from Eventide, I immediately thought of him.

I'm strange. I know. But then again, I'm sure other people have given him weirder things than a CD, right?

~ I hate when I try to buy a CD and I can't get it anywhere. I want the double disc version of The Delivery Man. Can I find it in a store. No! And even the evil Wal-mart website doesn't have it. And I don't really want to order it online! GRRRRR.

~ I still have cabin fever! I need to go somewhere and my next two weekends are filled up with stuff that I don't want to do, but have to. Grrrrrrr

Thinking Positively

Another long day

It's fun to get awakened by the phone ringing at 6:10 a.m., especially when it's a co-worker begging you to work her shift.

Yay for money. Boo for the early shift.

I don't think I've ever gotten ready that fast before.

On a happy note, the scale is down 2 lbs! Woot.

Side note to the Moody Blues --- be afraid when I become an uber skinny girl again.
(I'll be dragging Justin and John off)

Hey a girl's gotta dream right?

I've changed my diet a bit in the past month. No potato chips. Pouty And now no soda pop, or at least only one can of Coke a day. Crying

My goal is 135. The weight I'd prefer to be is 125. But we'll take things as they come and see how they work. I've been very diligent in the last month, more so than ever.

But with these guys as inspiration

I think I might just make it.

Insane you say?

Well, yes. You're probably right.

It's Nap Time

I think the lullaby mix and I are going to become friends tonight. Working a full day is tiring, not because of the hours or anything, but because of the large amount of exercise I do during the 9.5 hours that I work.

In my morning shift I went around the Curves circuit 10 times and then on my afternoon shift I went around about 6 times, give or take a machine. I'm a fool, but there's not much else do to on my shift. (That doesn't get done in the first 15 minutes that I'm there)

So what I'm going to do for the rest of my evening is stare at this:

read a cheesy romance novel, and listen to my mix and hopefully I'll be alive and kicking tomorrow.

Take Me Back Tuesday

Here's Fallen's meme from Music Memoirs:

1. Name three male artists you always enjoy listening to.
You really don't need me to answer.
Elvis Costello
Justin Hayward
John Lodge

2. Name three male artists you can't turn off quickly enough.
Anything P. Diddy
Clay Aiken
Justin Timberlake (Oddly I'd rather listen to his teeny bopper N'Sync stuff, but even that makes me a bit nauseaous)

3. Name one band you would love to be a roadie for, past or present.
I am no ones roadie. No one. Now if I'm going to be anything, it's going to be a groupie. And if I'm a groupie...well the answer is the Moody Blues.
