Only two more days til Friday and do you know what that means? It means I get to post pictures of my Hump Day Hotties or Hottie depending on my mood. My mood says that I need all the hotties I can get to get me through til Friday.

One Resolution Bites The Dust

Ok, I didn't make real resolutions, but I think I made a promise to myself not to try to plan things this year.

Ah well, I should have known that wouldn't last. I like to try to at least dream up possible scenarios of things I can do. About a week ago I ordered a bunch of magazines from the surrounding states and PA, so I could see what I could do on weekends this year. The WV magazine came yesterday.

Bye Bye resolution type thing.

Damn there's a lot of neat things to do in WV. (I can't believe I just typed that)

I never realized how many waterfalls there are in that state, and you know I have to see them all! The question is how will I get to them, and how much will it cost me.

I hope the weather starts to get better soon, because there's so much I want to see and I only have weekends to do it. Not to mention the fact I want to go back to Cincinnati in the fall, as there was so much I wanted to see in Oct and I also want to get to Erie and Atlantic City this year if it kills me and it just might.

Winter Returns

For the last few days the coldness of winter has returned. I can't say I like it much. I was truly enjoying the unseasonably warm days. Yesterday we had a bit of snow or as Utopia calls it "White Death."

Personally I wish this season was over.

Cold weather only does one thing for me. It makes me sleepy. I could hibernate all winter if I could. All day long I wish for nothing more than to be nestled beneath my covers.

Winter saps my energy.

Worse still is the cabin fever. How many times can I say this? I need to be out and about and this winter I've seen nothing but the four walls of my house for the last three months. It's maddening.

It can be absolutely gorgeous all week, but when I have a chance to go out on the weekends, what does it do? Rain! Or snow!

This winter my weekend routine consists of laundry and Walmart and CD shopping online.

Ah yes, the excitement that is my life.

I'd like to thank winter for coming back so that there would be another weekend of dullness for me. After all, I could use a little more madness in my life, right?

One For The Thumb

I was on pins and needles the whole game. Halftime scared the crap out of me. I really thought we were going to give this game away, but we didn't.

Pittsburgh had the drive to finally get their fifth super bowl ring.

So to the whole Steeler family...

Congrats...

And to Bettis "The Bus" you won that ring at home...

Good on ya boys! That ring was well deserved.

Halftime Horror

Can someone please tell me why people pay hundreds of dollars to see the Rolling Stones in concert? I admire the band for their longeivity. I also enjoy their music though I wouldn't call them the greatest Rock N' Roll Band by a long shot. From what I heard at halftime tonight, I'd call them mediocre at best.

Start Me Up sounded terrible, plus they had to edit the lyrics so that right-winged christians wouldn't be upset by Mick singing "You make a dead man come." (well, techinically that would be cum). Pathetic. Guess what people by 11 or 12 all of your kids have heard that word and know what it means unless you've totally sheltered your child.

Satisfaction thankfully was better, but I had to leave the room, because Mick's wrinkley old flesh traumatized me. I like some tushie shaking, but his wasn't pretty. And I've seen some guys in the same age brackets shake their groove thangs and they didn't make my lunch come up quite as fast as Mick.

I don't know how long it will take for me to recover from those three songs. Right now I really need a rusty melon baller. And from now on, I only listen too, not look at The Rolling Stones

It's Super Bowl Sunday

To be perfectly honest, The Music Whore doesn't really pay much attention to football, but when the Pittsburgh Steelers manage to go all the way to the Super Bowl, even I sit up and take notice.

Actually, I've been keeping a close watch on the Black and Gold for the last month or so along with the rest of Pittsburgh area. I watched them defeat Cincinnati, I saw parts of the game with Indianapolis as well as Denver. They took them all down, even though most of those teams had better records then they did, and here they are in Detroit, ready to play in their first Super Bowl in 10 years.

They are really the underdogs in this game. I have no idea if they can pull it off, but I want them too so badly, and so does most of Pittsburgh.

Hell, we even prayed for the Steelers at church last night. I can only hope that God heard the prayers of a small suburban parish in the Pittsburgh Dioscese that sent up some prayers for their football team. Mind you nearly every person in the church was decked out in black and gold.

Some Music You Should Check Out

I've been hunting down some new music. All Moody Blues makes The Music Whore a dull girl, and we can't have that, right?

I've discovered a few bands/artists lately care of some online friends and other sources. In the last year or so I've found my tastes mellowing.

I'd like to that Copper for tuning me into Will Young. I can't believe I like any artist that has anything to do with the "Idol" shows, regardless of what country the show is from.

In the 60's there was no respect for The Monkees because they were prefabricated, but we eagerly await shows where we create the next best thing and support bands like En Vogue and the like that are the creations of record execs. I do promise never to fall under the Clay Aiken spell, and if I do, any one of you is permitted to hit me with a large crowbar!

Will Young - Happiness

If you ask me, Will's sound is quite similar to Jamie Cullum's which is not bad in my book.

Another discovery I've made recently is an artist called Feist. Yay for Canadian music! Feist is a bit like Madeleine Peyroux at times and at other times there's no comparison you can make to anyone. Again one of the reasons I find I like her voice is because it's not got that breathy little girl sound that seems to be popular with a lot of female singers.

The next two bands I was turned on to were brought to me by a Livejournal friend.

The first band is called Lamb. The song I heard first was called Gabriel. It's an absolutely stunning track. Again another female vocalist, with a very hauntingly beautiful voice. The song is trippy and ethreal. Perfect chill out music.

The other band I've fallen in love with is Conjure One. If you like Delerium and Enigma, you will like Conjure One. I like the tribal sounds of this album. It's definitely mood music. It's also music to put you in a mood, what kind of mood, well, I guess that depends on you.

A Good Weekend To Do Nothing

It's a PJ Weekend! The weather doesn't seem to want to comply so that I could get out and about for much. So I have no plans for this weekend, except starting a few weekend projects that I will inevitably not finish. I have no plans for watching the Super Bowl either, since I don't wish to jinx The Steelers.

At the most I'll get some laundry done and go out for lunch and dinner. Thrilling plans, I know, but I live near Pittsburgh, so the world, except for the places catering to the Super Bowl watchers of the world, are going to close up early tomorrow and today seems too deary to do much of anything.

I foresee a lot of reading in the next 48 hours. I also foresee a lot of boredom, which is becoming a bit to common on the weekends.

I can't wait for spring, even though we haven't really had much of a winter. I long to be outside doing things and going places. I'm sick of being couped up in my house with next to nothing to do.

Cabin fever is no fun. And cabin fever on Super Bowl weekend is even less fun.

Sometimes I Wonder....

~ How anyone can exist without music.

~ How cats can turn the most insignificant object into a toy and yet still ignore the $5 dollar toy you bought for them.

~ Why when you've waited all week for Friday and it finally gets here, a strange exhaustion overcomes you and you end up in bed at an ungodly early hour.

~ Why you can never find something when you are determined to spend some cash.

~ How it can be beautiful Monday through Friday and as soon as you get off work Friday afternoon, it starts to rain or snow.

~ Why weekend projects never seemed to get finished.

~ Why something you've wanted for so long just doesn't seem as great when you actually own it.

Thirteen Things

Thirteen Random Things About My Day

1. I listened to October Project today. I haven't had the opportunity to really listen to their first CD and quite frankly it's good. I can't remember how I discovered them, but if you like Celtic sounds, this is a great band to listen to. Mary Fahl's voice is exquisite.



2. I finished reading another book today. Courthouse Steps (Tyler, No 11) was quite good in that cheesy Harlequin romance kinda way.

3. Buffalo chicken subs at Subway are yummy. So are their peanut butter cookies. After only eating about 500 calories by 4 p.m. I figured I deserved something really tasty for dinner.

4. The people at the tax office still seem to think I owe them money, but they decided that I only owe them 2.49 cents. Somehow I got something screwed up on a quarterly payment. (Which up until 2004 we didn't have to do in our borough) They can have their 2.49 and I hope they do something constructive with it.

5. No cavities at the dentist, believe it or not. I do have a gum infection and I got a prescription for a special rinse to use for 2 weeks. After that I'll go back for a cleaning. I completely forgot what a nice guy my dentist was. I don't know why I was nervous about seeing him.

6. Wandered about Walmart while waiting for my prescription to be filled. I think I've found a new entertainment center that will be cat friendly and will provide me with more room in my entertainment room. I also contemplated a futon for the living room and a desk for my other bedroom.

7. Only spent $13 in Walmart. I'm not sure how I managed that, except for the fact that I was just there yesterday. Walmart is the root of all evil!

8. Contemplated what mayhem was going on in Belle Vernon. The main road was blocked off and there were several police cars and an ambulance in a nearby parking lot, but nothing to suggest an accident. Inquiring minds want to know what the hell was going on.

9. Burned some garbage today. It took me almost a half hour for me to get a match to light. I'm totally incompetent when it comes to setting fires. I can't even light the candles at church.

10. Decided that tomorrow I will show my Steeler spirit by wearing my Roethlisberger T-shirt that I bought yesterday.

11. Played more solitaire on the computer than I wanted to.

12. Was amused by my kitten, Oogie attacking the cursor on the monitor. Oogie will no longer be left in the room alone. I have visions of the monitor coming crashing down on his noggin. Oogie isn't the brightest crayon in the box.

13. I totally slacked on my exercise today. And I don't care. I'm too tired. All I want to do is sleep. sleep. sleep.

Dentist Day

Lordy, I know that there's nothing to be afraid of. I know I'm being childish in being nervous about going today, but I can't help it.

I don't like anyone in any form of the medical profession when I have to visit them in a professional capacity.

Which is why I avoid people in white coats of any kind like the plague.

Plus I really don't want to be yelled at for not going when I can't afford to. And when I could afford to, I couldn't get time off to go. It's a nasty vicious cycle.

Regardless, I'm worried about what I'll hear and ultimately how much it's going to cost me. I hate that I really can't take time off to go to the dentist, so I get to sit around and think and worry abou it all day today.

Wish me luck that things aren't as bad as I think they are.

I Will Survive, But I Can't Guarantee The Rest Of The World

Today has been a shitty day. I got a letter from our local taxing authority telling me I didn't pay enough local tax and that I owed them money plus penalties etc.

I growled and grumbled. Then after that I looked at the letter.

My total tax liability was $62.14. I paid them $62.40. They are charging me penalties and interest on an overpayment?

Isn't it lovely how our tax authorities know their math? I overpaid them 26 cents! Tomorrow I have to call them and tell them that I don't owe them anything. They actually owe me. I wonder if they'd give me interest on that 26 cents. I think not.

When we were allowed to pay our local taxes yearly at our own tax offices in our own towns, mistakes weren't made. 2004 was the first year that we had to pay our taxes to this new municpal service. Apparently they hire morons or have software that doesn't know what a minus sign means.

I'm really looking forward to talking to someone there tomorrow.

I'm so mad I could spit.

Hump Day Hottie And His Ugly Shirt Collection

I've been lucky to see Justin Hayward's ugly shirt collection more often than I'd like to. I've seen The Moody Blues in concert 6 times since 2003 and with the exception of that first show I saw back in Nov of 2003, Justin's pulled out one of his hideous shirts to parade around on stage in.

Blech.

This is from the Tropicana show in June of 2004. Good ole' Pepto! (That's what I call that hideous shirt, btw)

I thought after a year or two of torturing the fans with that one he'd give it up and toss it in the rubbish where it belonged. He didn't, but he also found something new and just as ugly to wear for my next shows.



This tunic can take on the shade of the light. Yay! Make it look pinker! Ewww! It looks too big on him and it's just blech!

He liked it so much that he wore it in Cincinnati too.



I think this might be part of a pair of jammies someone bought him. If so, Justin wear it to bed, but not on stage! I can understand the need to be comfy while performing but this is just vile.

These are just two of his many ugly shirts. There are many many more in his collection, but I didn't want to hurt your eyes with his fashion faux pas.

Early To Bed

So as to avoid watching the State Of The Union Address, I'm packing up and heading to bed early tonight.

Nothing can make me watch the leader of the free world tonight. I'll get enough of it when I wake up and turn on the Today Show. (More than enough)

I'm taking a good book and my Muvo filled with exercise music and curling up under the covers. I don't care if I don't fall asleep right away. All I care about is not hearing those 20 odd minutes of lies about the War On Terror and Iraq and how the country is in marvelous shape.

I can't take those kinds of lies anymore. I can't take hearing how good things are when I have friends that can't afford to keep their furnaces on because their heating bill for one month was $700. I hate hearing about how we have to help liberate other countries when there are so many people suffering in this country and when so many people (myself included) don't have health care.

I do know one thing, W's view of the State of the Union and mine are probably two very different things.

Discipline

Ok, for the last month or so I've fallen off the weight loss bandwagon. Not too badly but it's time to start getting back into the swing of things before I fall off much farther.

Christmas is just a bad time. And recovering from it is dificult. That coupled with a job that made me slightly nutty (OK more than slightly nutty) and you have a nasty combination.

I have a goal now. It's 120 lbs. I will make it there by this summer if it kills me. Mind you its not really far away. Just about 10 lbs depending on what scale I'm on.

I hate winter. Because the weather is so unpredictable and I can't get out and about as much as I'd like. I hate being couped up and there's so much that I do during the summer that's just not fun in the winter.

My weekends are usually full of places where I walk, right now I'm lucky if I get off my butt in the winter.

Boredom sets in and that's bad. Because the only thing there is to do on a boring winter day ends up being eating.

So today I'm going to spend more time at Curves and I'm going to use my cross country ski machine, even though the machine is the most boring form of exercise. Because if I don't get to 120 by May I'm not wearing that bathing suit I bought last year. (Which I didn't wear last year at all)

Weight Watchers TV dinners are going to be my friend.

Someone put me out of my misery, please!

Life Shrinks

The peanut gallery has a few things to say today.

~ My tax return was accepted! Yay for me! Yay for money to pay for necessary stuff like new glasses this month.

~ My dentist appointment is Thursday. I'm scared to death.

~ BMG had a half off/no shipping sale. I'm finally going to own a copy of Alison Moyet's Voice CD and for only $8.99 and tax. Woot!

~ I ordered the 2 Grey Eye Glances CDs too. They shipped today so I should have them by the end of the week! Squee. Incidentally I found out that the song Your Move is a hidden track on Songs Of Leaving. I have an mp3 of that track and I wondered where it came from. Thanks to someone doing a wackadoodle google search that led them here, I found the answer.

~ Dad's surgery went well last week. I took him to the doctor's this afternoon to have the huge compression bandage taken off. Everything is healing as it should be and he can wear his specs now, so he can drive. The bandage was so big that he couldn't wear his glasses.

~ Boston Market is damn yummy! I think the only thing I did was eat today. Not a good thing, but when the food is that good, you stop caring.

~ I drove past Best Buy today and didn't stop to go shopping. That my dear friends is will power!
