What Happened To TV

My mom and I were having a discussion about all the shows we've watched over the years and how tv really has lost something in the last 20 years.

Family tv is gone.

Unless you can stomach the shows on Disney and Nick, some of which are cute, like Good Luck Charlie and Jessie, but for the most part, all the shows geared for families and kids have one of their "stars" branching out into music, regardless of weather or not they can sing.

Seriously, chicky from Good Luck Charlie, you can't carry a tune in a bucket! Give it up!

Where did tv go that was fun to watch. That you could sit down with every member of your family and be entertained.

I admit, I still love reruns of Bewitched and I Dream Of Jeannie.

These were good shows.

Fun shows!

There's not much in the lines of fun anymore

TV is too serious now and really grown up. The networks have made it so that you have to have multiple viewing locations, because parents can't stand to watch the kids shows, and the adult shows are too grown up for kids.

Sigh...

This is where you insert comments about the good ole days.

So what are some of your favorite classic tv shows.

I'm sad that TV has become so age-specific. It was fun being able to watch with my parents and brothers and sisters.

There's no way that 'Breaking Bad' or 'The Good Wife' couldbe family shoes. Even 'The Big Bang Theory.'

You're right about the lack of shared viewing. We normally stack up a few shows on the Sky+ to watch later.

It's astonishing that on the main channels a few good shows will inevitably compete, leaving other parts of the schedule bereft of interesting things to watch.
