For some reason I've been on a Tom Hiddleston kick.

I can't imagine why....

Hmmm....

RIP Robin

I don't think I've been so saddened by a celebrity death since Davy Jones died.

I mean, this is Robin Williams. His acting and comedy have been in my life since I was a little girl. I even remember watching the cartoon version of Mork and Mindy.

And the movies....oh the movies..I've seen so many...Good Morning Vietnam, Mrs. Doubtfire, Aladdin, Night At The Museum and my personal favorite What Dreams May Come.

It is heartbreaking to know that such a funny man, such a well loved, and respected man, who brought so much joy into so many lives, obviously had so little joy in his own.

He had a gorgeous home, a beautiful wife and children.

It is another stark reminder of how horrible mental illness is and it is made worse by addiction.

I hope that wherever his spirit is, he has found peace and happiness now.

Guilt Presents

Guilt presents are an interesting thing.

My sister bought me the Nightmare Before Christmas commemorative necklace for my birthday and today I got a wonderful Doctor Who print from Steel City Con.

Why?

Because she's going to Ocean City next week, and I'm stuck at home with her oldest son, taking care of our parents.

It doesn't make me feel better about not being able to leave the Mon Valley at all. I've only gone as far as a mall in the last 4 years, but if it makes her feel better to give me stuff, well, I'm not going to complain.

Truthfully, I'd feel  totally uncomfortable on a beach right now. I want to be a little less fat the next time I get anywhere near the water. I don't want people trying to toss me back in the water because they think I'm a beached whale.

I would however like a day to decompress, but that's not happening any time soon.

So until I can catch a break, I'll just be happy with my guilt presents.

Hump Day Hunks

It has been a shitty day.

Today sucked..

I need to look at something pretty to make me forget.

RESPECT

I am so sick of the way people discuss the current president.

First of all, he should be addressed as President Obama.

He was elected to that position and that's the title that remains his even after he's out of office. He isn't Mr. Obama. He isn't Obama.

He is PRESIDENT OBAMA!

Just as our second Bush president wasn't W, though everyone chose to address him as such.

It shows a lack of respect.

You may not like the political leanings of these men, but they do deserve the respect that any world leader should get.

Some of the Brits don't like the Queen, but I'm pretty sure they wouldn't dare call her anything other than Her Majesty. (regardless of whether you think she has majesty).

Heck, I think it is horrific that the media continues to call the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.

She's married.

That isn't her name anymore.

And if I were married to Wills or Harry, I wouldn't want my maiden name either. Personally, if I were married to Harry, I would be busy doing other things, rather than typing a blog post.

Now what have we learned today, children?

Missing My Furbabies

Have you ever had a pet that has crossed the rainbow bridge that just really breaks your heart, in such a way that every time you think of them you cry?

Last year, I lost three kitties. Two were from Miss Itchy's litter, Blinky and Mucker and the third was my Bootsie (aka Bootsietardalopasaurus).

Bootsie was invisacat. She loved hiding. She was a bit shy, but full of love for me.

Then there were my little Muckers..Blinky and Mucker. Both had a form of Feline Leukemia that took them from me shortly after they turned 1 year old

002

My little ones, I will never ever forget you.

Let The Ranting Continue

~ I'm sick of hearing about 50 Shades Of Grey...they movie. I could almost deal with hearing about the books, which don't interest me, but the movie is just meh.

~ Unless you or your loved one is ready for the grim reaper, do not go on hospice, because if you have any other medical emergencies, you will be sucked dry by hospital bills.

~ My cute Irish boys are coming to Pittsburgh in Sept. I hate not being able to go anywhere

~ Crossbones is cancelled before I could even catch up with watching it. Damn you NBC. How can you cancel a show with John Malkovich? HOW!

~ So sick of hearing about everyone's vacations when I can't go anywhere. Yes, I'm a jealous bitch, no, I can't help it.

~ My nephew doesn't know how to pick up after himself. He's getting a bit too old for this bull shit.

Another Reason Walmart Sucks

I like to think I'm a good cook.

However, all cooks are only as good as their ingredients.

Which brings me to my rant today.

Walmart's meat department is lousy.

I bought a package of chicken breasts, so I could make slow cooker sweet and sour chicken. In the morning I cut the meat up, so that my nephew could toss it into the pot for me, since chicken cooks faster than roast and it would have to go on while I was at work.

Cutting the meat was tough.

Then came eating the meat.

Blergh!

It was terrible.

My sauce was good, with the lovely green peppers and pineapple. My rice was yummy too.

The chicken was tough and just plain yucky.

I stopped buying stew meat there, because it was always tough.

Now I'm totally done.

I'm sick of them talking about how they have low low prices.

Thank you, no!

I'll stick with Aldi, Giant Eagle and Foodland, because I'd rather pay a little more (and from my shopping trip, they weren't all that low on their prices) and get quality food.

Grrr

Cat Thursday

Sister Please had her kittens, but I don't know where she hid them. I only know this because she showed up on our porch today significantly thinner.

Hopefully the neighbors will start taking care of her and her babies.

But lets have some sillies now.

And on a slightly more serious note

Bucket List

When you sit around your house all day taking care of people, your mind starts to wander.

When you hit 40 and you feel like you've done nothing with your life, your mind goes on vacation.

My mind wants to go a lot of places, but most aren't possible now.

I have started bucket list of places I want to go before I die.

Thousand Islands, NY: I want to explore all the gorgeous castles there.
Put In Bay, OH: I read a book set  in this town this year, and it looks like a place I'd love to visit.
Chicago, IL: My other mother (my online bff for the last 10 + years) lives there.
Blackwater Falls State Park, WV (I love waterfalls)
Natural Bridge in Virginia
I'd also love to see the New River Gorge Bridge in OH and the Y Bridge in Zanesville, OH
Tours of the Wineries in PA

If I would somehow manage to fall into buckets of cash....I'd add London to my list too.

Diary Of An Exhausted Caregiver

Here are a few random things I've learned in the last few years taking care of my parents. It is something everyone should have in the back of their heads, unless they have shittons of money and can afford a personal nurse or a great assisted living home.

1. Wiping adult bums is a lot more painful than a baby's backside.

2. Heath Insurance companies are all asshats.

3. Hospice is not fun and some of the nurses are damn annoying. (Other nurses and aids are angels)

4. Check your life at the door, you won't have one for awhile. (There will be times when you feel guilty for wishing you had one)

5. No one  seems to understand what you are going through.

6. Sleep is a thing of the past.

7. It is never easy to deal with a loved one saying that they should be dead, when all you want is more time.

8. Your house will never be clean.

9. Your nerves will be shot.

10. Respite from caregiving is often not an option.

That said....I hope that none of you have to go through this. Watching a loved one in their last days, no matter if it is days, weeks or months....is a terrible thing to do.

Camera Critters

Camera Critters

I was at Critter Country for my birthday, so I thought I'd share a few pictures of the peacocks at the farm!

As always the peacocks were flirting with the chickens instead of the peahens, which means that they had likely already mated and the girls wanted nothing more to do with the guys!
