Let The Rant Begin

Have any of you seen the commercial for low cost internet for the less fortunate kids? This ad pisses me off.

All kids should have the internet....and if you are low income...you deserve to get a price break so your kid can do his homework, you know without going to the library.

I don't like this idea one iota.

I don't believe that children should go hungry or freeze in the winter. Heat and food are important, the internet, while a wonderful thing is not something that a child needs to survive. It isn't even necessary for a child to get good grades.

Plus if you are that low income, how are you paying for that computer? Last I checked, computers still cost a couple of hundred dollars.

What about the rest of the world?

The internet is important for everyone. Trust me, if I had a kid, I would fall into that low income bracket. I pay $40 a month for DSL. That's a bit steep on a fixed income.

Do you think the problem isn't income level but the fact that internet providers are milking us for every penny we have? Of course, the ad is by Comcast, one of the highest priced internet providers you can have.

Still the thought that we are now in a world where the internet is something that we think everyone must have in our homes is a bit sad.

Oh that bothers me too. I have internet at home now but for a while I couldn't do the price and what did I do? Public library. It worked. It's really frustrating to see adds like this one. we have them for low income discount cell phones too because you know that's a necessity now as well. smh

That gets on my nerves too. Buy a tracfone if you can't afford home phone etc...The phones are cheap and so are the plans. There's certain things I get angry about when we give the service away when the rest of us are paying out our butts.
