It was the end of the month...my mother's one heart medication was nearly empty. This pill cost $120 to refill for 90 days, because it isn't a generic and medicare stopped covering it.
I told mom, to ask her PCP for a prescription for 15 days to tide her over until the 1st of the month.
She however said to order them anyway and I paid for the pills.
On July 2nd..she went into the hospital with a-fib.
On July 3rd the pills arrived.
On July 5th...she was discharged and that particular heart pill was no longer part of her medications.
That's $120.00 down the drain.
Might as well have thrown that money away...
It could have paid the electric bill or the phone bill..or any number of bills.
There's no recourse, even though the package isn't opened.
That my friends is truly criminal

Even with medical coverage they find ways to get you.
That is criminal!
It's criminal that the US doesn't have some kind of National Health System. Yeah, we complain about ours here in the UK, but I'm damned sure I'd prefer our NHS to having to pay silly amounts of money for medication which is needed.
People in England tend to pay around £8 per prescription (which will last anything from a couple of weeks to a month or two, depending on what it is). Here in Wales our taxes cover our prescriptions so they're free (unless we're treated in a hospital over the border in England).
