Randomosity Strikes Again

~ I bought a hard back copy of this book.



There are some pretty good hints in it, as well as recipes and exercises. Here's hoping it helps me one my quest to shrink (again). I've got an idea for a reward for myself if I hit my goal. A spa weekend at the mountaineer. (That would only be a couple of hundred dollars!) LOL! It's a good idea in theory. Unfortunately, I doubt I could ever let myself go into debt for a facial and a hotel room in WV.

~ I think Gym Hottie lives to torment me. Lately he's been exercising in my area when he's there. I wonder if drooling helps you lose weight? If it does..I should be shrinking fast.

I haven't the guts to speak to him. I don't have the guts to speak to many people. I'm no good at that. Plus if I spoke I'd just give away the fact that I'm crushing on him, and men that look like GH never give me a second glance. What the hell am I talking about, NO men ever give me a second glance.

Why do you have to be 100 lbs and blonde to get noticed by the good looking men. Curse my nearly black hair! And curse the fact that I've never been able to titter.

~ I now own 2 copies of Memory Almost Full. I have the regular CD version and the Special Edition. OK, Paulie, where's my thank you for helping pay off the nasty wench you're divorcing.

~ I got that Wilson Phillips CD from LaLa yesterday and it's quite surprising how good it actually is. I expected to be horrified with every track, but honestly the girls did a great job. I'm not as keen on their reworkings of the tracks made famous by their parents, but all in all it was a good effort. They managed to make some of the tracks sound different without murdering the songs and my memories of the songs. So woot! It was a well spent $1.75

~ One of my cats is having a hairballfest in my room. I have no idea which one it is, but every morning I find a rather disgusting present on my floor.

~ I'm reading a strange book by George MacDonald call The Fisherman's Lady. It's less than 300 pages and its taking me forever to read. It's just not holding my interest. That's what happens when I try to read "literature" during the work week. My brain cramps up and says no! Basically I should have learned by now that only fluff should enter my brain before Friday at 4 p.m.

Where Did All My Friends Go

I hate that my closest friends are either married and far away or just far away. It's very hard to be 32...well almost 33 and single. Marriage seems to take away anything in common that these people have with their single friends.

There's one person in town that I could call, but I don't bother, because what do I have to talk about with a woman that's been married for 10 years and has 2 kids. At some point that's what becomes her life. And that's not my life, so conversation would be stilted.

This all makes for a very lonely girl and a girl that depends way too much on her computer for companionship.

I never wanted to be a person like that. Then the computer came into my life...and suddenly it was my connection with the outside world, more so than the telephone. I think I can safely say, my best friend is someone I've never met and who I talk to online on a daily basis.

Another sad fact I've learned, you can't make someone like you or be friends with you. So I guess I'll just sit here in front of my computer and ponder how my life became so dependent on this stupid plastic box.

The Monkees or The Beatles...which would be..or which was your favorite band or do you like them both.
I love both bands. The Beatles are superior of course, because they are true artists, but the Monkees have shown over the years that they are worthy of a place in the annals of music history, as one of the most lovable bands of all time. Plus they really did have talent when they were allowed to use it. I love me some Fab and Pre-Fab Four.

Seriously, if you are even a casual McCartney fan, and I don't know how anyone can be, you'll want this record. It's more rocking than Chaos & Creation with just enough pop to it, so that you don't forget who you're listening to.

Now buy it damn it! Paul needs all the money he can get to help pay for his divorce to she who's name I can't mention without saying something really nasty.

And since I'm celebrating Paul today....I can't think of anything better to do then share some lovely pictures.

I'm So Ashamed

I'm getting this Wilson Phillips CD from LaLa. Don't tell anyone.

I loved their debut album. It came out when I was in high school. There was absolutely nothing ground breaking to it. It was just a bunch of pretty songs. Plus I always wanted to have Chynna Phillips' hair cut.



For those of you that aren't familiar with the band, Chynna's the one with the short blonde hair. Mind you, I don't want to be a blonde, I just wanted the haircut.

But back to this album. It's a covers album. That's one of the reasons I had to have it.

Yes, I like torture. They covered some songs that no artist should try covering. They covered songs by their parents' respective bands. (The Beach Boys and The Mamas and The Papas) Then they covered...gasp....Fleetwood Mac...and Jackson Browne.

Yes, I like to listen to things that are train wrecks. But the way I see it, it's only $1.75. It can't be any worse than Duran Duran's Thank You album. That was so wretched, I don't even know where my copy is. And hey, if it really sucks, it wasn't a huge loss.

It Was 40 Years Ago Today Just Doesn't Sound Right

Some of you might be wondering why I haven't commented on Friday's 40th anniversary of Pepper. I think the only answer I can give to that is that there's nothing to say about it. Nothing is done to commemorate it that's worth mentioning. It would have been nice if they could have finished the remastering the CD for this occasion. (I believe they aimed for the same release date when the first CD version came out in 1987)

In 87 there were interviews all over the place. You couldn't go anywhere without a mention of Pepper. Not that Pepper wasn't mentioned anywhere yesterday. The Post Gazette had a lovely feature on it...and the Fishy did a focus on the songs during the Friday Free For All. And the blogging community was quite obnoxious about it, which is why I didn't post about it, really.

It's a shame Pepper isn't one of my favorite Beatles albums. It never has been. It's always been a summer album for me too, when I've felt like listening to it. It conjures up images of sweltering heat and a general feeling of uncomfortableness. I guess that's part of the reason I don't play it much.

Perhaps if I had been alive in 67 when it was released I could feel differently about this record. I can't take away that it was groundbreaking in its time and that it was influential in the music scene and still is. However it just leaves me with a ho-hum kinda feeling when I listen. I get very little joy from Pepper. That doesn't mean you shouldn't own it, because everyone should own Pepper or at least listen to it once in their lifetime. For me, I prefer the two albums prior to Pepper, Rubber Soul and Revolver.

Pepper does bring me joy in one way though. It has some great photos.

~ Firstly, I've got my 30 GB Zen Vision. Can I get a woo hoo from the peanut gallery? I also got the armband for it, so I can use it easily when I go to Jack's to torture myself.

~ I've got one less CD on my wishlist.

~ Borders officially sucks. At one time I used to find all kinds of CDs there, from imports to simple back catalog CDs by my favorite artists. Today I'm lucky I could find that Elvis Costello disc that I bought for a rather inflated price.

~ I've decided to add the Rob Thomas song I'm currently overplaying on my winamp to my list of songs that would impress me if a man ever put them on a mix CD for me.

I Will Have The 30 GB Zen Vision Today!

It's on sale. It's only available at one store and I'm determined to have mine. If they don't have it, I swear I'm going to go postal on Best Buy!

I want my 30 GB Zen. My Pink Zen wants to become the Christmas Music Zen Of Doom. That's a long story, and one I'll address at some other point in time for those of you that haven't heard it.

I refuse to let my Zen slip through my fingers this time. I want the damn thing and I want it now. Instant gratification and all that BS. I also want my stupid Donnie Iris CD which I was going to buy last week, but passed up because the Greensburg Best Buy didn't have the Zen. (They could have had an extra $50.00 from me if they would have had the product last week)

Ah well, that's life.

Hopefully by tonight I'll be transferring all my music to the new player. Fingers crossed, because I really don't want to pitch a fit at Best Buy if they don't have the damn thing.

Walk With The Animals...

There's a little walk through zoo about 20 minutes from my house in Smithton, PA. Its called Critter Country Animal Park. The park is actually on the family's property and they've rescued several animals from traveling zoos and circuses.

The animals that are found there range from spider monkeys to peacocks. My favorites are the wallabies and the camels, though I have to say I love all the feathered friends there too. Emus and Ostriches are always good for a giggle or two.

The best part of the deal is the cost. It's only $5.00 to view all the lovely animals.

I've Got A New Rob Thomas Song

The other day I was listening to BOB FM and I heard this song that I knew was either Rob Thomas or him with Matchbox Twenty. It wasn't familiar to me, but it's been awhile since I really played his album Something To Be or any of my Matchbox Twenty CDs.

It's kinda odd, that I haven't, because I really love just about everything that Rob's done, including the extremely overplayed song he did with Santana, Smooth. (That song was lovely the first 100,000 times it was played)

I especially love when he does slower songs. His newest song, Little Wonders is one of my favorites for that reason alone, and that's why the song I heard drew me in. I'm a sucker for slow/love songs. Rob could sing me a love song anytime he wanted to.
