Operation Organization Begins

Lists, lists, lists.

I am making so many lists.

I have cleaned my house top to bottom. Steam cleaned the floor again in the dining room. That floor needs some serious buffing.

Things have been dusted and organized.

The vacuum has been used multiple times.

My house looks good.

I'm proud of my quarantine cleaning binge.

Now I just have to order my drapes for the living room and dining room and get my outside looking spiffy.

Why am I doing all of this?

Because the projects that need doing are all in a hurry up and wait pattern, thanks to covid-19, I'm just trying to make the spots that I can look nice. It's definitely getting there!

The Frugal Vegetarian

Covid-19 sucks ass for many reasons, one of which is soaring meat prices.

OK,  I admit, I am a carnivore.

However, I am CHEAP!

Budgeting right now is insane and I'm looking for ways to shop smart and have decent meals that taste good, but don't break my budget.

I'm feeding three adults (and I'm not sure why..but just blame mom, its all her fault..bless her sainted heart) and we all have big appetites.

So far on my meat free menus

Lentil Veggie Soup
Lentil Chili (My chili tastes better than the meat version I used to make)
Kraft Zesty Spaghetti (You know that box stuff with the seasoning packet? OMG I make the best sauce with that. 1 can of tomato paste and 1 to 2 jars of diced tomatoes and you get some really good sauce in a jiffy)
Black Bean Burgers (which I haven't made in AGES but are so good!)
Sweet Potato and Black Bean Chili
Pasta Bake (Can be done with or without meat, cos my meat is usually pepperoni but its just as good without_

However let me say, getting canned beans is a pain in the bippy!

My must try recipe for this week is Smoky White Bean and Potato Stew

My next step in trying to be less crazy is getting a subscription with Imperfect Foods. My friend Tina, suggested it and I'm going to give it a go, cos frankly I hate the grocery store, and until I can be one with the farmers market, well I'm doing what I have to do. I'm on a waitlist there, but here's hoping I can get some groceries delivered in the coming months.

Hey who knows, maybe I'll even get a little healthier in the long run.

Good Omens

I read the book by Pratchett and Gaiman back in the 90s at some point. Now having seen the show on Amazon Prime, I have to go back and revisit it, as soon as I can get a copy.

The two main characters, The Demon Crowley played exquisitely by David Tennant and the Angel Aziraphale played by Michael Sheen (no relation to those guys in the US) are amazing.

Like I said, I read the book way back in the day, because, well it was Pratchett! I felt a lot of the story line coming back to me as I watched. And yes, I'm sure things had to be changed because..well..the book was almost 30 years old at the time they started working on the show.

Still I really found the show entertaining...and I've determined David Tennant plays a baddie really really well.  I have to say, his Crowley was like a combination of The Doctor and The Master. That's pretty much how I rated him in this show, since it wasn't a detective show a'la Broadchurch or Blackpool.

I caught glimpses of The Doctor in Crowley, but I have to admit. I loved Tennant's badass swagger.

But now that I've fangirled on about Tennant, I have to go on to Michael Sheen, who was equally amazing. I especially loved his love of food! (which really is more a Tennant thing but still) Oh and the fangirl in me also yelled at the telly that he got David's ice cream in the last episode. Tennant fans just reference The Gambler sequence from Blackpool.

I totally need to find more stuff that he's been in.

Also...how did they get Tennat's hair to look Doctory in this..but they couldn't for the 50th Anniversary special?

GAH...must get Tennant out of my mind...

But dammit, he is one Smexy Demon.

Also..I want to eat crepes and read books with Aziraphale. Lots of crepes.

So if you haven't seen any of Good Omens..just give this recent Covid-19 short a watch

Things I Accomplished in April

At first thought, it seems like it should be a big ole zero.

But really I read 7 books

I think I finally have my bathtub drain issue handled until I can do my upgrade.

Gizmo had her teeth out.

I started to watch Good Omens on Prime. I know its been out for ages, but I have no time for telly anymore. I've now watched 5 episodes and I love it. David Tennant is a brilliant Crowley..and I so want to go back and re-read this book.

I really need to get caught up on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina before The Great drops on the 15th.

I hate that I have a great love for some telly and great love for books. They are really a warring faction.

I survived Lowes another month in the time of Corona. That is saying something, right?

Now to survive May? On a happy note...I'm almost done with my second book for the month so Yay me. My reading is going strong in the time of Corona!
