I Neglected To Mention

Last Wednesday before all hell broke loose in my life, I won a DVD on the Pickle. Woot! I'm going to pick it up today.

The DVD is the making of the Beatles "Love" show that's playing in Vegas right now, it's called "All Together Now"

Oh to have the money to go to Vegas and see that show.

~sigh~

That's not likely to happen anytime soon for me.

But at least I'll get to watch the DVD with Ringo and Paul and the wives of John and George, which is better than nothing.

You know me, I love the Beatles. So I'm definitely going to enjoy this. Its just a matter of when I'm going to be able to watch the darn thing.

The Mother Of All Surveys

I got an email from Oldies Radio today to take part in a music survey, of what I'd like to hear on the radio, particularly on Oldies Radio.

Its 700 songs long. Thank god they only play 15 seconds or it would take forever to get through.

The first question they ask: What's your favorite radio station? Oh ok, WPKL. I like my oldies radio.

Next question: Who's your favorite DJ? Uh trick question! OK, I pick Fish. Basically because he's a hottie and a goober.

After those questions come the songs. I feel like it's Oldies Radio Survivor and I can vote songs off the island. So far I've voted Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springstein and CCR off the island.

This survey is way too much fun. There were even songs that I haven't heard on Pickle much, like David Bowie's Fame. Hmmm, Fishy. They played Bowie on the quiz! Play some Bowie during The Real Dill Pickle Morning Show!!!

I wonder how long it will take to get through 700 songs?

Monday Randomosity

~ Why is it that when I have one late night my whole body rebels and the next night I can't sleep at all. I mean I fought to fall asleep by midnight, which means today I'll be dragging. Even my little mp3 player couldn't get me to the land of nod. GAH! I only had 5 hours of sleep!

~ I wish Fishy had a different song for Mondays. Every flipping Monday Morning...yeah that song. I like Fleetwood Mac and I love Lindsey Buckingham, but I'm sick of that song getting stuck in my head every damn week for half the week. Firstly the song, well, it's not one of his best and the pun is so tired now that it begs Fishy for a day off.

~ While I'm ranting about Fishy and 99.3 The Pickle, there's this commercial. My online Mom will know the one of which I speak. I've groaned and moaned and bitched to her every time its come on the air. It's for a pizza shop in Uniontown, whose name won't be mentioned to protect them. Well, this commercial is bad. No, it's not bad its awful. However its so bad that commercial sticks in my head, so maybe it's good. OK, when it does that I start twitching because Fishy's Italian accent saying The besta pizza arounda is enough to send me running screaming. Someone doesn't do accents well. Nope, he doesn't. And if it was supposed to sound funny, well it doesn't do that either. God I hope this commercial is done running soon. I won't even go into the rest of the badness of this commercial. Let's just say it's really bad and move on.

~ I listened to more Paul McCartney yesterday. Oye! Remind me not to do that for a long while unless I decide to listen to one or two albums but not the whole McCartney catalog from 1980 on. Paulie has a lot of crap in his catalog and a bulk of it was recorded in the last 30 years. But if you read my last post, you know that already.

~ I wonder if the Pittsburgh area will ever get a real snowfall this winter. Not that I want one, because that just means headaches for me, but still, I like to look at the snow.

~ I hope the Patroits lose soon. Actually I hope they make it to the Superbowl and lose there. I don't like New England. I'm sorry. I don't.

That is all the squirrelly ramblings I have for you this morning.

Two Commercials I Can Do Without

Radio commercials can be either really amusing or really awful. Today I'm going to go off on 2 really awful ones that PH, Fishy, or whatever assorted nickname I'm using for him has done recently.

The first one is for a bbq place in Smithfield, PA. The commercial has him turning into a piggie when he eats bbq.

Oh dear.

And our dear Fishy, morphs into a piggie quite nicely complete with snorts.

Uh...erm...I hope he hasn't sprouted a cute little curly tail too.

But seriously, I never wanted to hear him snort. That wasn't on my list of priorities. Though I have to admit that after I groan I usually belly laugh long after the commercial is over.

Ah well, I suppose it served it's purpose. I do remember it. However not for the right reasons.

The other commercial is for a furniture store. For the life of me, I can't remember which one, but he's talking like he's "Da Man." The voice alone is enough to put me on the floor clutching my stomach. But the commercial had to have someone say to him, "Do you know you aren't wearing any pants?" Why? Because he lost them buying furniture somewhere else.

Enter visual of Fishy sans pants.

Oh dear...

Nuff said on that subject. Make these two commercials go away before I explode!

Hmmm I Wonder Where I Was Yesterday

This is the sign outside the radio station in California, PA. You know that place where the Fishy one works?

No, I wasn't stalking him. That's not worth it.

In his teasing yesterday and my oversensitivity...I've had one of those..moments. See when I won the tickets for the park he had to ask for all my information. Which could have turned into a gigglefest really. However when he asked my last name, he said something that was funny at the time but my mind turned it around later and here I sit, feeling blerghy over it. Because my mind just has to make mountains out of molehills. Damn my mind.

All he said was, "What's your last name? I know I should know it, I see it everyday."

Damn right you should know it. But never mind that. I'm going to attempt to not email him today, cos you know, I wouldn't want him to have to see my name in an email.

Grrrr.

I'm trying to remember why I didn't pop him one in the head last Saturday. Oh yeah, cos I was all fangirlly and going gaga over his total cuteness.

I Won Idlewild Tickets!

It isn't often that I win anything, but today when I heard the Ticket To Ride sound effects on The Pickle I thought, what the hell, I'll give it a go. It took 3 tries and believe it or not, this unlucky lady got through to her favorite Fishy.

I was befuddled and excited all at the same time. I could go to any of the Kennywood parks, but I've been to Kennywood once, on my birthday, so this time I plan to go to Idlewild, simply because I love the park and I can swim there if I want to.

I haven't had a chance to wear my new bathing suit once this summer because of all the crap that's gone on in my life. So with any luck, I'll get to do that this Sunday.

For this alone I would gladly give the Fishy one a big ole smooch. Mind you I don't really need a reason to want to do that, cos he's so darn cute I want to do it just because.

So thanks to my favorite radio station, 99.3 The Pickle, I now have something to do on Sunday! Yay!

Advertizing Really Works

For the last week or more The Pickle has run an ad for Meloni's summer salads. At least once an hour or more, the obnoxious jingle for this restaurant is played and I listened to the descriptions of three very tasty sounding salads.

Last year these commercials were pure torture, because I didn't know where the damn restaurant was. This year I do. And this year I decided I was going to try one.

The salad that really has been tempting me was The Bird Of Paradise. It's a half a pineapple with chicken salad and fruit. It's also pretty pleasing to the eye.

It was a pity to have to eat such a gorgeous creation, but it was worth every last bite. Yum. The tiramisu was tasty too.

My ever expanding ass would like to thank 99.3 The Pickle for the ads that lured me in. Damn them and all their restaurant commercials.

I Love The Pickle

No, not pickles, though I do like pickles quite a bit, Pickle F.M. our oldies radio station in Fayette County. Amazingly enough this station plays good oldies, you know the kind I like. Yesterday I heard 3 count em 3 Herman's Hermits songs, 2 Monkees tunes, one of which I requested and Manfred Mann's version of The Mighty Quinn! Squee!

All that and a few Beatles songs thrown in.

Life can't get much better than that.

OK, it could, the station could put a Moody Blues song or two in its rotation. If I want to hear them, I have to call and beg. Which I did last week, just to see if they had any of their songs. They did! Woot! I was treated to Ride My See Saw. Oddly that's one of my favorites so I was happy. It also got my thinking about the innuendo my brain creates when that song is on, but that's something for another day.

So far the only band I haven't heard is Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, and that makes me sad, because I really do love Gary. But who couldn't love this face?

I think I may be requesting Lady Willpower today, since it's embedded itself in my brain last night.

Sing it with me

Lady Willpower, it's now or never...
Give you love to me and I'll shower your heart with tenderness endlessly..

I think the DJ at Pickle is going to get sick of me over the next few days.
