Strangers When We Meet

When The Outside came out in 1995 I fell in love with this song. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned it before. I've probably even shared this video in the last month, but it really needs to be shown again.

It was actually on the Buddah Of Suburbia album too, but I didn't really fall for this song until The Outside came out. That was one of my favorite albums because of his work with The Pet Shop Boys. I highly recommend  this album to anyone, it was definitely one of his edgier albums from the last 30 years.

Every mix tape I made had this song on it. When it came on in the car, I sang it at the top of my lungs. There was something about this song that really spoke to me.

The live version is proof that Bowie had one of the most uniquely beautiful voices in rock music. Hell, his voice was more than beautiful, it was sexy.

My favorite line is "All your regards, ride roughshod over me."

It is so hard to believe Bowie is gone.

Starman

I don't think I've listened to David Bowie as much as I have this week.

For some reason I just want to crank up his music and stand outside in the cold and wave a lighter around.

25 albums of varying levels of greatness and now there will be no more.

No more Bowie.

Its just so incredibly sad.

The stars really do look different today.

Still Reeling

There aren't many celebrity deaths that really affect me, but David Bowie's death has hit me hard. It really bothers me that there is no longer a world with his brilliance in it.

Twenty five albums.

Movies, some good and some bad and some just beyond words.

There's so much he did in 69 years.

I think this image that I found on Facebook yesterday says it all.

RIP David Bowie

This was not the kind of news I wanted to wake up to. It isn't the kind of news I was even expecting. Heck I hadn't even had the chance to listen to his new single.

The Monday Meme's Are On Hold Today

Long about one or two o'clock my friends and I will be off to the fine (cough cough) city of Pittsburgh to see David Bowie.

The last time I saw him in concert was 1995 I believe, on the tour for The Outside album. Fantastic show, if you knew what he was singing, which since the album wasn't out yet, most of us didn't. That combined with him touring with NIN, made things all the more exciting, or perhaps weird would be a better word.

So I'm working til about 1 o'clock and then I'm heading home to get ready to go. The best part of this is he's playing the Benedum Center. Woot! Mind you this is where the Moody Blues should be playing, but oh well, such is life.

So, in case I don't get to do the Monday Music Mambo, or anything else today....Here's the man I'm going to be dancing the Mambo with in my post concert dreams.
