Today's Earworm

There are reasons I usually stick to classic rock stations.

Less earworms.

Or rather, less annoying earworms.

Sure there are songs like "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" and "Yummy Yummy Yummy" but they also have the cute factor.

But the other day I had 99.7 on and I heard "Rude" by MAGIC! and now its stuck in my head.

Like most of the songs I've been gravitating to lately, he has a strong 80s vibe. I like the mellow reggae sound of this band. I may actually have to buy their album.

Novelty Songs Still Exist

Sometimes I'm glad I don't pay much attention to Mtv anymore or any other music channel, because I'd see things that make me go hmmmm much too often.

Last week, in the fits of my worrying over dad, my friend, Tina sent me a link for a song...that really made me go hmmmm. I also chuckled...

This is beyond warped...that's all I have to say on this matter, but it is funny as hell

Signs Signs Everywhere Signs

Remember the song Signs by Five Man Electrical Band?

Its a wonderful little thing called a protest song. The fact that in this current political climate there aren't scads of songs like this shows how the music industry has sold out since the 1960s.

Music has no meaning anymore. Its so much fluff.

The sad thing about this classic tune is that it is still relevant 40+ years after its release. The times they aren't a changin'.

Have a listen and let me know if you agree.

It is a shame there aren't any hippies or flower children around now..maybe the world would be a better place.

The Song That's Stuck In My Head

I keep thinking I should be paying more attention to the lyrics of this song...then I think...NAH. However it randomly popped into my head the other day so maybe someone was trying to tell me something.

A Great Song

I love Kristin Chenoweth, she's so freaking cute. Her new song is called I Want Somebody (Bitch About). Yeah like Broadway turned country star Laura Bell Bundy, who I adore.

It is definitely worth a listen and the video is cute too.

It is great to see some fun pop music out there that isn't totally slutty or obnoxious. Yay for Cheno!

A Great Country Song

I'm really annoyed by the commercial before the video, but it is worth it just to see and hear the awesomeness that is Miranda Lambert's Only Prettier.

I'm kind of interested in hearing what you guys think of the lyrics, personally I think our government should listen to this song:

Well I’ve been saved by the grace of Southern charm
I got a mouth like a sailor and yours is more like a Hallmark card
And if you wanna pick a fight
Well I’m gonna have to say goodnight
I don’t have to be hateful, I can just say bless your heart

And even though I don’t belong with your high life friends
It doesn’t mean we don’t get together and try to make amends
It’s easier can’t you see
Let’s agree to just disagree
We don’t have to like each other but it’s sure fun to pretend

So let’s shake hands and reach across those party lines
You’ve got your friends just like I’ve got mine
We might think a little differently
But we got a lot in common you will see
We’re just like you
Only prettier

Everybody says you’ve gotta know your enemies
Even if they only weigh a hundred pounds and stand five foot three
If you just smile and behave you can always get your way
It’s a universal plan that’ll get you where you can in all societies

So let’s shake hands and reach across those party lines
You’ve got your friends just like I’ve got mine
We might think a little differently
But we got a lot in common you will see
We’re just like you
Only prettier

Let’s shake hands and reach across those party lines
You’ve got your friends just like I’ve got mine
We might think a little differently
But we got a lot in common you will see
We’re just like you
Only prettier

Well, I’ll keep drinkin’
And you’ll keep gettin’ skinnier
I’m just like you
Only prettier

My New Favorite Video

This song is so fun and cute..and the cowboy is hot.

Laura Bell Bundy has actually appeared in a few Broadway shows, Legally Blonde being one of them.  I find it really funny that she is a country singer, but actually a pretty good one.

I think I'm going to watch the video again...and maybe again...That cowboy sure do have a purdy face!
