  Best TV/Movie Sidekicks!

Sheldon Cooper - The Big Bang Theory: Its hard to think of Sheldon as a sidekick, because he steals the show most of the time. 

Jeff Murdock - Coupling: This was a great show by Steven Moffat before he started loving killing off characters and torturing Doctor Who fans. Jeff was the best of the Coupling bunch, cos he was so..ridiculous.

Steven Hyde - That 70s Show: Eric Forman's bff and just an all around snarky guy. You have to love him.

Rhoda Morgenstern - Mary Tyler Moore: She was such a good sidekick, she got her own show! Love Valerie Harper!

Sarah Jane Smith - Doctor Who: She is THE companion to end all companions and she had the best spin off show before she passed away. I agree with Larissa, that Donna Noble is one of the best New Who companions (along with Rory), but when it comes to the overall picture, Sarah Jane is it

Reasons I'll Quit An Author


I'm going to say this, I've not quit many authors, some I may even come back to...but here are things that will put me off an author.

1. I'm dead but I keep turning out books: aka V.C. Andrews. Did you know she only wrote The Flowers In The Attic series, My Sweet Audrina and I think the first two of the Heaven series...She died when she was writing the prequel to Flowers In The Attic. All the other books were ghost written, and poorly at that.

2. A series that goes on and on and never gets anywhere. I've tried reading the Kathy Reich's Bones series, but I quit, because there were too many books, and let's face it, Brennan is much more likable on TV then in print.

3. An author that keeps writing the same book over and over again. Ever find an author that you like, until you realize they just keep putting out the same book again and again with different character names?

4. The author writes about one thing only. I can't deal with books that are always just about vampires, mummies or the holy ghost. Truth be told, I think vampires are getting old. REALLY REALLY OLD!

5. The heroine from hell. If your character resembles Bella Swan in any way, I will not read on. I don't know how so many people continued on with Twilight, because Bella should have been vampire bait in the first book. Oh and see # 4 for yet another reason, why a certain author has been quit by me, even though there are 3 more of her godawful books on my TBR pile.

Best Books Turned into Movies!

1. Pat Conroy - The Prince Of Tides

The movie starring Nick Nolte and Barbra Streisand was pretty awesome. There were some things that were left out, but the book is rather long (704 pages) so somethings had to not make it. I read this in junior high. It is an incredible read and I saw the movie the first week it was released.

2. Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone

You gotta love Harry! I actually think this series was one of the best, when it comes to the transition from paper to the big screen. Oh and Daniel Radcliffe, he's such a cutie...and now he's a hottie..and I feel like a dirty old lady!

3. Coraline

I know this is wrong to say, but I think I liked the movie better than the book.  This film couldn't have been any less than spectacular though. The story was fab, and Henry Selick is awesome with the dark and brooding story thing.

4. Chocolat

Chocolat is one of my favorite Johnny Depp films. The book is just as stunning as the movie and another one that is pretty well done. I love when the book and script stay true to form.

5. Call Me Mrs. Miracle

OK, so this isn't a big screen movie, but it was still cute. It took a few more liberties with the book then I'd like, but I still loved the movie and Doris Roberts as Mrs. Merkle (Miracle) is just wonderful.

1. The Hannah Swenson Mysteries By Joanne Fluke

There are fifteen of these. I've read two and am about to start at third. Tis a shame I'm reading these way out of order!

I love the series and I really love the recipes in each.


2. The Parasol Protectorate

There are five books in this series, and I've heard such great things about it.

Must read!

3.  Sookie Stackhouse

Yeah, I know. I'm one of the few people that haven't read at least one of this series. The sad part is that I own all of the books.

My TBR pile is totally out of control, as you may well be guessing right now

Geeze, I think there are 12 books here..or more.

ARGH!


4. Twilight

Yeah..I need to read Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, so I can get this series out of my life for good.

I'm treating this series like voting. If you don't do it/read it, you can't bitch about it.

And bitching about Twilight is such fun!


5.  The Pink Carnation Series

Regency period England and mysteries!

That is a perfect combination in my book!

So this is definitely a series I hope to get through this year.!

Favorite Ghostly Novels!

1. Eve Bunting - Ghosts Of Departure Point: This was one of my favorite YA novels when I was growing up. I think I read this one about 20 times over the years. My copy is so battered that it is sad, but it is well loved.

2. Hope Tarr -The Haunting: OMG this is the absolute best Harlequin Blaze I have ever read. One part paranormal and one part historical. Oh and have I mentioned hot steamy sex with a ghost? Tee hee! Fun times!

3. Stacey Kennedy - Stolen Dreams : I love Stacey Kennedy! This is the first book of hers that I read last year. It was also the book that put her at the top of my must read list of authors! I love Tess and Kipp.

4. Neil Gaiman -The Graveyard Book: This list wouldn't be complete without this book, m'kay?

5. Amanda Stevens - The Restorer : This was possibly the best book I read last year.

1. Chicklit: I love stuff like Confessions of a Shopaholic

2. Cozy mysteries: I'm all about mysteries that involve people who own bakeries and have loads of cats.

3. Historical fiction: Since I was in high school I've loved reading stories that tie in with history. I especially love books about the royal families of Europe.

4. Fantasy: I'm a huge Terry Pratchett fan, nuff said.

5. Regency Romance: This is my favorite historical romance period. These were the type of stories I started reading when I began my love with romance novels.
