Things That Make Me Happy

I'm trying to find things that keep me smiling, because life has been sending bushels of lemons my way.

Here are some things that keep my happy going in the face of adversity.

Things That Make Me Smile

Pumpkin Spice Lattes make me grin from ear to ear during the autumn. This is one of two kinds of coffee that I will spend $4.00 for. Usually I have a policy of not buying any drinks that cost more than $2.00 unless there is alcohol involved. This and the Peppermint Mocha @ Christmas are two exceptions..sometimes another holiday coffee will tempt me, but these two that will cause the money to fly from my wallet.

I am a disciple of Mika. Its been a very long time since I've fallen hard for a pop musician. I can't stop listening to his two CDs. They are really stunning in a Queen meets Erasure and Jimmy Somerville kind of way. It doesn't hurt that he's such a cutie pie. I just want to hug him and kiss him and keep him all to myself. You know like that crazy red haired girl in Animaniacs? Yeah. I would be like that with Mika!

Greg Proops has made me smile for the last...oh almost fifteen years or more. That picture I posted yesterday was the smile of a girl meeting someone she's idolized and lusted after for years and years. It was so wonderful that he was such a sweet guy and I was so lucky I didn't pass out at his feet.

Last Saturday was truly a stellar night. I'm glad I get one night like that a year. It makes the rest of the days worthwhile!

This new USA show kicks some serious butt, plus its got the comedy edge to it that all USA shows have. Oh and see that guy? Matt Bomer. He's now on my list of men that need to be cloned and distributed to the female population.

This is going to be a new must watch tv show for me now on Friday nights. I still have to wonder how they are going to replace Monk, because that show is truly brilliance!

Yup...these are a few of my favorite things...

Squee!

Four words:

I met Gordon Lightfoot!!!!!

THUD!

And here's a photo from the end of the show, I've only got 20 pictures out of my 100 + on flickr right now because there's been no time to post them. The ones I have there still need tweaking but I can fix them on the site.

Go here to see them. I'll review the concert later, when I'm more awake. We didn't get back from the show until about 1 a.m.

Yikes!

So I'm a sleepy girl this morning, albeit a very happy girl.

Gordon Lightfoot Tickets = Squee

SQUEE!

I've got tickets about a little more than 10 rows back dead center on the aisle for Gordon Lightfoot's show at The Harv @ The Mountaineer Gaming Resort in WV in June!!

I'm going to see Gord!!!!

I'm going to see Gord!!!

Can you tell I'm thrilled?

Do you know how much I've come to love Gord over the last two years? A lot and it's actually thanks to 99.3 The Pickle, but don't tell them that, they don't need to know.

I'm over the moon.

I've got good seats, as far as casino shows go. And I'm going to see Gord!

SQUEE!!!!!

Wacky Sunday

So much to say...so much to say...

~ The fridge arrived at noon! The fridge arrived at noon! And it was installed and running by 12:30! Rejoice! All is well in the world.

~ I went to Phipps around 1. I went by myself and I had a marvelous time. I took 270 pictures! All of which will make it to my flickr page sometime in the next day or so. The Chihuly Glass is there through Feb, but I wanted to see it in the fall atmosphere. Oh was it beautiful, and the dahlias were in full bloom in the children's garden. Magnificent!

~ I found Harry London chocolate at Target! They had Raspberry Truffles. Mmmm. These things are almost as good as hugs from Fish, and you know that this girl ranks Fishy hugs as one of the best things on the planet and they are something to be savored for days, weeks and months. These truffles are much the same. They are also made in Canton, OH a hop, skip and a jump from my brother's home.

~ I fell in love with a sweater dress at Target. I must get it. It's gorgeous and sexy and I would make men drool if I owned it. I must go back and acquire this garment. I must. I must. Why? I haven't made a man drool in yonks.

~ Went to Boston Market to bring some good eats home and they were playing Nick Lowe in the background, and I don't mean Cruel To Be Kind. Rose Of England was playing! It took every ounce of willpower not to burst into song, because that's easily my favorite Nick Lowe song!

~ Found the perfect Christmas tree at Walmart, as I went into a total Christmas coma. I'm so ready for the season! I need to go back this week and bring my new tree home! Oh and did I mention the 6.5 ft beauty is under $40! Yee Ha!

All in all, a day that was looking to be totally crappy turned out marvelously!

Mmmm New Music....Tasty

I just discovered yet another new artist and I bought 3 more CDs with my gift certificate that I got for my b-day from my wonderful friend Julie.

But first the new artist: Siobhan Donaghy

(click to buy @ amazon)

Brilliant sounding from what I've heard so far, plus that's one of the most beautiful covers I've seen in ages. However it's an import CD, so I can't afford it yet. ~sigh~

I did buy 3 CDs though with my gift certificate. I went across the board and bought 3 different artists. I like to spread the love around. And I know you're curious as to what I got...so without further delay...MY PURCHASES

Gordon Lightfoot - East Of Midnight

(click to buy @ amazon)

Right now, Gordon is my favorite artist, hands down. He tops Elvis Costello and the Moody Blues.

Amanada Marshall - self titled

(click to buy @ amazon)

I couldn't pass this one up for $1.00 and shipping. It couldn't get any better unless it came from LaLa.com

Gary Puckett & The Union Gap - Golden Classics Edition

(click to buy @ amazon)

There will be an upload of Gary's version of The Mighty Quinn when this CD gets here. I'm so excited!

I love my music!!

Things That Made The Mistress Of The Dark Happy

There were a few things that made me grin like a fool today. It's always good to have something make you grin that way, right?

* A hit to my blog from a zoominternet account in California, PA. (I wonder who that person could be? I wonder if he can't respond to emails because of his stitched up pinky finger)

* My song of the moment being played around 8:45 a.m. Everyone should hear Tommy James - Hold The Fire. It's such a great catchy tune. It made me dance around the office.

* The way a certain person kept saying "lovers" today when mentioning the name of the current contest running. Oye I think I fell out of my chair once from laughing.

* Getting my package from Yves-Rocher! Yay! Fun skin stuff to make me beautiful. Don't laugh! Plus free gifts!

* Realizing that by April I'll have some extra money to start putting aside for VACATION! (read: ATLANTIC CITY!)

* Hearing Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald this afternoon on the radio. Yay! Pickle made me smile again.
