Politics...Meh

They say you should never argue politics or religion.

I totally agree on that.

It is the main reason why America's 2 party system is broken beyond repair.

Both parties are at opposite ends of the spectrum and neither understand the word compromise. Followers of the each party believe the other side are all douchenozzles or whatever insult is in line for the moment.

I find this totally terrifying.

I also find that hate that seems to be in the hearts of so many to be frightening.

Again I see this on both sides.

Reading political pages on Facebook is just...OYE...it hurts.

There are times when I'm pretty close to 100% sure that neither party cares about everyday people. There's definitely a "Let them eat cake" attitude going on, and that is just terrible.

I don't know what can be done to fix it, except maybe getting more people to care about government and more so, to care about other people. Until that happens, I think we are screwed.

Oh My Country

I have strong political beliefs.

Since November I've kept quiet. My heart hurts for my country. I thought, I hoped that perhaps things wouldn't be as bad as they seemed they would be since "he who shall not be named" was elected

Last weekend I had my eyes on the Women's march on Washington.

This weekend the ban on Muslims has just left me horrified. I understand the need for secure borders, but what is happening is not right and not what America is about.

I have never wanted to get involved in a protest so much before this.

We can't let this country change this way quietly.

Coping With The Election Results

Once again...I just feel like we've been screwed.

I can't feel any amount of optimism in this election, only sadness.

I want to do something, but I don't know what.

Our country is broken.

When an election is literally split down the middle and one candidate wins the popular vote and another wins the electoral college (bullshit). This is something that happened only 5 times in our nation's history and one of those times was 16 years ago.

I don't know which of Trump's possible policies scare me the most. His total lack of belief in climate change?

His treatment of women and care for their issues?

His disregard for LGBT rights?

All of this because people think he's going to bring back the Steel Industry?

I just don't see how that can happen.

Why can't we create jobs in renewable energy?

Oh and that wall? Yeah there's no way that is going to happen.

My poor country

I Feel No Better Today

I'm sorry, I can't feel any better about what's going to happen to our country.

Our environment is going to be forgotten...so screw the planet.

I want to feel good about my country.

I realize we need jobs, but why can't they be in industries that make the world better, and possibly inhabitable for thousands of more years.

When we have a leader whose children are into big game hunting, I'm not only saddened, I'm sickened.

I hate killing animals for sport.

I'm totally disgusted by everything that involves this man.

Someone posted this poem in a facebook group I'm in...

First They Came - By Pastor Martin Niemoller
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Happy Election Day

I will be so glad when today is over.

I'm sick of all the Hillary bashing. she may not be the most perfect candidate but she has a brain. I'm also sick of people berating President Obama.

How the hell could he have accomplished much when Congress won't do their job.

It must be nice to have a job that pays in many instances 6 figures and assholes like Marco Rubio who doesn't even show up, keep running...and if he wins..so help me God, we have proof that their is something in the water in Florida that affects the brain cells.

We want change but when we have someone that might bring it about without causing WWIII we pick on him.

Let's hope when we wake up tomorrow there's a new president and its one we can live with

Are We In A Freefall?

OK,  I'm supporting Hillary Clinton. (I'd rather be supporting Bernie Sanders, but that wasn't to be.)

Not because I like her 100%, the lady has a lot of baggage, but as a politician, I think she has more political know how than The Donald.

What scares me is that now that Trump's run is going down, what is the rest of the world thinking of us, for letting this kind of man come this far. And more so, why did it take these types of comments, as opposed to the other nasty shit that's come out of his mouth, to get the GOP to distance themselves from this scumbag?

What scares me, is there are things going on with Russia, and it isn't making the news, because of  The Donald and the fact that everyone is campaigning.

I shake my head at our country.

Clarify This For Me

I always make the mistake of reading political posts on Facebook.

I never should do that, for several reasons:

1. It makes my blood boil.

2. It makes me question the intelligence level of most individuals in this country.

The one thing I don't understand when people are bashing Hillary Clinton is their use of the word warmonger.

Huh?

So let me get this straight, carpet bombing Isis is fine but helping Syria is not? Voting for the war in Iraq was bad, even though a good deal of Congress voted the same way...cos they were lied to by the Commander in Chief about weapons of mass destruction?

I'm still in belief that most people who don't like her are scared of her because she has more balls than they do. (Bigger ones too, I'm sure) I also think she's smarter than most of them too.

One thing is for sure..I'll be glad when Nov 9th comes around, but for the most part, I'm terrified of that day too.

Politics Will Be The Death Of Me

I don't think I've ever been so frustrated with what's going on in Washington D.C. Most of the time one can almost pretend that that little city doesn't exist.

Unfortunately this is an election year and we have some slim and scary pickings.

I'm not a fan of either candidate but one is far more frightening then the other in my eyes.

Personally, I think we need to have some new rules for people running for president.

1. You can only make an attempt at running once. If we don't like ya once...you don't get a shot at making our lives hell again.

2. You should have some idea of how government works. Erm...Trump I'm looking at you. For all your supposed business acumen (Do you even know what that word means?) You really don't seem to know anything about how things are done.

3. Candidates should stop making promises that there is no way in hell they can keep. Just an FYI to everyone, Congress is the body of government that actually does stuff. That is assuming they ever stop hating on the other party to actually accomplish something.

4. If you don't show up to your job. (Hey Rubio...we're looking at you....)You shouldn't be able to run for re-election)

Anyone else have anything to add? Now I'm going to wait for The Daily Show and Nightly

Politics Makes Me Crazy

This election cycle proves to me how crazy America is. Last night's New Hampshire primary shows that the two parties are polar opposites now and there's no middle ground to be found, which means our govt is pretty much ineffective.

On one hand we have Bernie Sanders, whose ideas I like, even though there's no way most will come to pass.  On the other hand we have Donald Trump, who says what he thinks and most of his ideas won't come to pass either.

I'm less afraid of Sanders than I am of Trump and Cruz and Rubio..those are like the terror triplets of the GOP. I actually kind of like Kasich from Ohio, because he doesn't seem as bat shit insane as the rest of that party. I do wish they would all learn that the USA is a nation that was supposed to have been built on religious freedom.  God needs to stay in churches and out of our government. Oh and FYI, I have nothing against God, just people that use him to further their ideals even when they kind of go against most of what they profess to believe. Yeah dudes, Jesus would be a bleeding heart liberal...read that book...m'kay.

But I want to talk about Bernie's ideas. Free College...can't happen, but something should be done to change the fact that most people attending college will be paying for it until they retire. Its the reason why there will be fewer and fewer small practices for doctors and dentists as years go by, and more of those crazy Aspen Dental places, because people won't be able to afford to start up their own and pay off their loans.

Think about that.

Then I think about the people that say..I paid for my education yada yada yada, why should anyone else get a free ride?

What about your kids? Don't you want better for them? For them to have it easier and not start out with crushing debt?

That said, higher education needs to be made more affordable for everyone, be it college or training for blue collar jobs.

Next up...Super PACs etc

I think we all agree that corporations need to stop picking our leaders, right?

Nuff said.

Healthcare

Medicare for all is the only thing that is fair and will work. However, it ain't going to happen. And the one thing about The Affordable Health Care Act that needs to change is to not penalize someone for not having health insurance. If it comes down to eating and health care or paying bills and health care, we know what most people will choose, right?

And also..if you look at the policies that are affordable? The coverage SUCKS if you really get sick.

On that note I wish I could make this election period go away, cos I'm sick of everyone right now.

Let's Talk About The Debate

I've kind of been getting my political info via MSNBC. I've watched more Trump speeches than I care to admit too.

Seriously how can anyone support this guy?

I've watched parts of the recent debate and I have to say

How can anyone support any of those idjits?

I'm not saying the idjits on the Democratic side are any better, but they seeming talk a bit more sense. And yes, I'm a bleeding heart liberal, but I also know that somewhere out there there have to be some moderates on both sides.

Where did they go?

Why are we all wingnuts?

Also..why couldn't any of those candidates pick a woman for the 10 dollar bill. Seriously one chose Mother Theresa and another Maggie Thatcher.

WTF.

Susan B Anthony was a good choice but she did have her face on that ill fated dollar coin that circulated in the 70s/80s.

Rosa Parks too, I will not argue with and even Abigail Adams..

But out of 11 candidates they didn't have a very original thought....

But back to Trump, how can one man that should really be intelligent for all his business dealings be so freaking offensive and yet have so many people supporting him?

That my friends is what scares me. That and Carly Fiorina...she's a bit terrifying too.

What I Don't Understand

One of the things I don't understand about our political system is how certain states get to decide who the nominee for president.

The business of the primary elections makes no sense to me at all.

Why is there a set date for the general election but each state has their primary on different dates, and if your state is at the end of the list, it really proves that sometimes your vote really doesn't matter.

It boggles my mind.

Of course when you look at the clowns running for president in 2016, well...it really scares you that one of them may actually become the next president....especially that wackadoodle front runner, but that's a rant for another day.

For now I'm just going to be glad that Rachel Maddow is around to bring some levity to this nonsense, especially as Jon Stewart is no longer on.

Did You Vote?

Today was election day here in the US. Not many big races in my neck of the woods, mostly mayors etc.

Voter turnout was low.

And yet our government has the lowest approval rate by the people that supposedly elect them.

Voting takes minutes.

At my poling station I was number 20 on the machine.

20!

And I voted after work!

It is no wonder why our towns/cities/states and country are run by idiots.

We don't care.

Every voice counts...regardless of your party.

You have no right to complain, if you didn't cast a ballot.

Republicans and Other Terrifying Things

Bilbo sent a letter to the Republican Party via his blog, and I have a few things I'd like to say as well.

Dear GOP,

I guess the O in GOP really does stand for "old."

I'm going to solve some problems for you, actually most informed citizens know this already, but I'm going to remind you, and some of this may even go against the party I belong too.

Bush tax cuts...let them expire. These are cuts to Social Security. A bad move on W's part to begin with. You don't take funds away from something that you are killing.

Secondly, the wage cap on SS that kicks in at somewhere around $100,000.00, yeah, well that needs to go. As long as you are collecting a check, you should pay into the program. It helps everyone.

There are other ways to cut spending besides cutting necessary programs. You don't cut things that help other Americans. What you might consider is starting to write laws that are only laws, bills etc that don't have fillers about funding for bug research or some other stupid thing. You don't cut education, because that is just stupid. If you want to be innovative and move the country forward, you need smart people creating things.

You've got to stop insulting the intelligence of the American people. (An FYI that's women, latinos, blacks etc) You've also got to stop foisting your religious beliefs on the rest of the world. We were a country that is founded on religious freedom. That means accepting the beliefs of Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Wiccans and even Atheists. Everyone has a right to their beliefs.

Maybe when you move into the 21st century, people will accept you. It would help if you got rid of people like Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman and Paul Ryan too.

Now get to work and stop undermining the president, it makes you look like a bunch of grade school kids.

Sincerely,

The Mistress of the Dark

PS

There's nothing more terrifying as a Republican, especially if that Republican is Donald Trump

This Disturbs Me

I don't like Mitt Romney, but after the last debate, I like his son even less.

When President Obama called his dad out on one of his little fibs, Tagg said that he wanted to punch the president.

Hmmm.

Hey Mitt, there's a guy in AZ that has some advice on how to handle a child like this. You know with stoning!

See, Tagg is an example of poor parenting.

This is a debate.

People are going to call other people liars or something of the equivalent. It isn't a big deal. That's what politics are all about.

Its nice to see how poorly raised you are that you would say you wanted to resort to violence because someone didn't agree with what your daddy was saying.

Poor Tagg, I guess he wants to punch me in the face too, because I think his Daddy is a big lying bag of wind.

I'm Twitching

I read this article over at Mike's blog this morning

AR Republican Charlie Fuqua Advocates Stoning Rebellious Children

WTF!

I understand that children ARE NOT raised properly these days. Most kids don't know what the word RESPECT means. I see it all the time.

I also know that everyone says stupid things or you open your mouth and the wrong words fall out. It happens to everyone regardless of what political party you belong to.

However, I'm sick of these Bible toting asshats that think they know everything or know what God wants.

This idiot also misses out on the part of the Bible where..and I do believe it was JESUS that said, "He who is without sin, cast the first stone."

Just as most of them miss out on the "Love your neighbor as yourself."

Now, before I anger people because I'm kinda irked at the Bible being tossed around like this. I believe that religion is a good thing. When it makes you a better person.

People like Charlie Fuqua and that asshat Todd Akin who seems to think women's bodies can shut down and not get pregnant when raped, have let religion warp their minds!

Uh. Seriously. To both of you.

If you don't have brains...which you obviously don't have, you shouldn't be running our government.

And while I'm on a tanget. One of the candidates in PA runs on this platform. Pro-Life, Pro-Family, Pro-Gun.

All I can say to that tard is..

You are a fucking hypocrite.

I think I need some prozac now.

And seriously...please don't stone your kids, discipline them properly and remember your child isn't perfect and neither is anyone else's.

Economics 101

For those of you that didn't take economics EVER. Obama can't make the US economy any better for several reasons. 1. The world economy is in the crapper. 2. International businesses aren't going to hire in the US if they are losing money in other countries. 3. He isn't Harry Potter. He can't wave a wand and make Congress listen to him. Lord knows if I had that wand..most of Congress would be gone..to another place far far away... Rant ended...

Let's Talk About Insurance

They are crucifying President Obama over the Affordable Healthcare Law aka Obamacare. Why? Because there's a clause that would penalize a person for not buying health insurance.

Hmmm.

They say that is unconstitutional.

We can't force people to buy insurance.

Uh...erm...

Ok...

But you can do that when it comes to cars, right? If you own and operate a motor vehicle, you have to have insurance.

If you own a business, you have to carry Worker's Compensation insurance. If you don't and an employee gets hurt or killed, you can and probably will go to jail or get a big ass fine.

So how are these insurances can be required, but not health care. OK...

I won't pretend to understand, because nothing makes sense to me anymore.

I won't even get started on people who say that don't want government interfering with their lives but they don't mind them passing anti-abortion laws..

BAM!

That, my friends, was the sound of my head exploding.

Yay Mitt

I've been following politics too much. I already feel a twitch coming on and the general election isn't until November!

The fight to be the Repugnant...erm Republican nominee is probably the scariest bunch of freakazoids in this country.

That said, if I had to pick a freakazoid (and I can't because I'm a Democrat) I would pick Mitt Romney.

Why?

He's the least scary of the bunch.

Can he beat Obama?

I don't know.

I'm almost to a point where I don't care.

I don't think the current administration is doing enough, but I'm scared of what a Republican run government would do to our already weak country.

I wish there was a candidate somewhere that cared about America, but sadly I know that that candidate doesn't exist.

Responsibility

Not using the 20% coupon from Barnes and Noble is responsible. I did this. I'm sad about it, but I don't trust the economy right now and I need all the extra money I've got.

It is a shame our government on both sides isn't as responsible.

I never wanted this to be a politically motivated blog, but lately that's all that's on my mind and I get angrier by the minute, not just at Congress but at the idiots that live in this country that don't realize what's happening here and who really is to blame.

The Repugnants seem to think its ok to only extend the debt ceiling for 6 more months...you know so they can make Obama look bad, which is also why there are huge cuts to Social Security and Medicare in their plan. Basically if you aren't a rich old person, that party says drop dead you aren't needed. Your life and service to this country is over if we have to give you a dime.

Funny Canada has had issues with their social programs but they have things straightened out. If social security is taken away there is no way that small businesses can really succeed. How many small business owners can really afford pensions etc for employees that aren't family.

I'm truly afraid of what is going to happen in the coming weeks. I can't believe more people aren't angry and shouting at the rooftops. This game these politicians are playing is Russian Roulette and there are millions that will be affected by it. What of the truly infirm that are in nursing homes whose SS pays for their care. What of them when the SS check is withheld? What of people on medications that cost a mint who can't pay for the pills that keep them going?

Our gov't should be hanging their heads in shame at the chaos they are causing. And its funny but when you think of it...the terrorists have won, because it was 9/11 and the wars that those events started that really brought us to this point.

Rant ended for now.
