9 years!

Say Happy Birthday To The Blog

I really can't believe I started blogging 8 years ago today. 

8 years!

That's a really long time. And I've pretty much stayed with blogger. My web address changed that's to some freakazoid stalkers awhile back, but other than this this is me.

I really was Diary Of A Music Whore, but when I switched templates my title became A Little Night Music, which though a musical in its own right, reminded me of my favorite song from The Phantom Of The Opera.

A lot has happened to me in 8 years, here's a recap:

* Lost grandma 2 years ago in April. She was 101 and my world has not been the same since she passed away

* Loved and lost 5 kitties and one dog, may Mutchka, Itchy, Buddah, Misty, Coco and Purrbee be playing together in that big animal playground in the sky.

* Witnessed the birth of 4 beautiful kittens.

* Saw many many concerts: Elvis Costello, The Moody Blues, Nick Lowe, Davy Jones, Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks, Don Henley, Poison, Peter Noone, The Grass Roots, Lady Antebellum, Rockapella, Gordon Lightfoot and probably a few more that have skipped my mind.

* Met more than a few of these bands and got pretty drunk with a member of one of them too. Oye vey.

* Became obsessed with digital photography.

* Changed jobs a few too many times...from retail to call center to secretary with a short stint working at a fitness center.

* Changed cars 3 times from Greta the Grand Am to Bernie the Beretta to Francesca the Focus.

* Went to Atlantic City several times and never won anything. Went to Wheeling Island and The Mountaineer and won just about nothing. Determined I have no luck gambling.

* Became a freelance music reviewer

I'm sure I'm missing a lot here, but these are a few things that came to mind. I'm going to come up with a mix of music I became obsessed with in the last 8 years and I'll share it with you later today.

3 Days Til My Blog Birthday

I can't believe that my blog is going to be 8 years old over the weekend! 8 years! I've been through so much in 8 years....deaths, job changes, car changes etc.

I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to celebrate my blog's birthday.

I'm not sure yet.

Maybe a bit of everything.

I just can't believe I've been blogging for 8 years. That is a damn long time!

6 Years Of Blogging

It's hard to believe I've been posting at this blog for 6 years. So much of my life has changed.

Here are some of the things that have happened in my life since August of 2002.

~ Changed jobs 4 times.

~ 3 cats have passed on to the heavyside layer.

~ Greta the Grand Am died.

~ Met John Lodge, Greame Edge, Justin Hayard, Bernie Barlow, Elvis Costello, Lady Antebellum, Gordon Lightfoot, Nick Lowe, Gary Puckett, Peter Noone, and Rob Grill

~ Took several trips to Atlantic City.

~ Developed a fruitless crush on a DJ at the oldies station in our area.

~ Dealt with mom and dad having heart issues within 6 weeks of each other.

~ Learned how to cook without poisoning the family.

~ Bought 3 cameras and 2 Zen mp3 players.

~ Adopted 3 cats and 1 creepy dog.

~ Lost grandma @ 101 years of age.....

It's been an eventful 6 years, hasn't it.

Happy Birthday Blog & A Top 5 On Friday Among Other Things

Today my blog turns 6. I can't believe I've been blogging this long and for the most part on a regular basis, almost every day.

It makes me almost want to throw a party. Almost. I'm not a party kinda girl, unless its a dinner party.

Regardless, I've made it 6 years and oddly my blogs b-day falls on a Friday which is an meme day for me. My meme, to be specific. The only meme from Music Memoirs that I truly love.

I'm the creator of the 3 memes on Music Memoirs as well and I used to do another music meme before that site came into existence.

So you have to know that music is more than 90% of my life. But that's a given. Now you know that the memes are truly a part of my life too, even though I'm disgusted with some of the ones I make.

Now give my blog a present or at least a piece of cake! And a CD!

Top 5 On Friday

Top 5 Bands That You Wish You Could See Live

Over The Rhine - They are high on the list of people I love and they were in Pittsburgh this year. I actually had tickets too. Then they canceled and rescheduled and life happened in a nasty way and I decided it was best not to go. I hope they come back next year, because I adore them.

Hem - Another alt-country band that really rocks my world. The vocals are smashing the songs are marvelous if only they had a new album to support. I've heard rumors there may be one out soon. My fingers are crossed for that one.

Erasure - I've loved these guys since high school, only Pittsburgh is not a mecca for techno/synth pop, or for that matter, cute little gay-boy bands. Damn! They've come to Cleveland and Atlantic City but never when I could afford to travel or when I had anyone that would make the trip with me. You have no idea how many kinds of wrong that is.

Keri Noble - Not a band but still someone I've been longing to see. It seems she mostly hugs the west coast. (glares at Russ who's already seen her live) She's coming to Cleveland, but I don't road trip alone and I can't afford it anyway. Damn and blast.

Donnie Iris - He's a local guy. He's played the area many times. Have I ever had the chance to see him? Hell no!

5 Years Blogging

Today is my 5 year bloggerversary? Where are my presents?

Somehow I didn't think I'd get any.

Pooh!

5 years. 5 long years. Looking back, I've been through a lot. The change of jobs more times then I could count. The change of cars. I've written several stories and 2 novels in that period of time. My musical tastes have become stranger and stranger. I've learned to love photography and the ocean.

I've dealt with the loss of 2 beloved pets and 2 friends that I felt were close to me. One that I had talked to for years and another that was a more recent acquaintance.

I've been to several concerts and met several of the performers.

I've gained and lost weight. I've been a member of two gyms.

I've acquired several digital cameras and 3 mp3 players.

That's quite a lot for 5 years, yet I feel as if most of my life has been at a stand still. I'm not content. I want more out of my life than what I've been getting.

I don't know if I'm looking for the elusive happiness or if I just want a certain amount of change, that my mind is resisting. I long for something different and yet I know I'm not quite ready for it. I want something but only after something else happens, if that makes any sense at all.

In 5 more years I'll be 38. If I'm still blogging, I wonder if my life will be any different than it is now, if I'll have finally broken through those barriers that are keeping me in this rut.

Now my question to you....what have you learned about me, in the course of reading my ramblings over the years.
