Random 10 - Week 97

From the ladies @ Music Memoirs

10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back. (oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)

There was no rhyme or reason to what I listened to this weekend. I was pulling stuff out randomly in a lot of instances, just as my Zen and winamp were on random...So this is what anyone in this house heard blasting..

Roxette - Joyride
(Hello...you fool...I love you....)

Diana Krall - The Girl In The Other Room
(This is my favorite DK song.)

Tommy James - Hold The Fire
(My nephew says I play this song too much...it's quite possible that he's right)

The Irish Rovers - Beer, Beer, Beer
(For obvious reasons)

Grey Eye Glances - Hey Love
(This is one of my new favorite GEG songs. This band really needs to do a new album...NOW)

The Beatles - And Your Bird Can Sing
(This one showed up on my winamp. I hadn't heard this one in a long while)

Gordon Lightfoot - Carefree Highway
(I finally ripped Sundown to my harddrive)

Gordon Lightfoot - High & Dry
(I like the original version from Sundown better then the version on Gord's Gold 2)

Glass Tiger - Touch Of Your Hand
(I ripped Air Time to my hard drive! Yay for cheesy 80's music!)

Crosby Stills Nash & Young - Got It Made
(This was on my March Mix)

Now for dessert...erm the picture...

A fried cheesecake that was shared between my parents and me @ the fabulous Mexican restaurant in Charleroi On Mon...The Three Amigos. Yum.

I Feel Accomplished

I've actually done some things this weekend..besides eating...and drinking green beer. Can I get a Woot! for that please? It's deserving.

1. I filled out the rebate form for my new phone and have everything that I need to copy in my bag for work tomorrow. I should be able to mail it with the mail at work!

2. I hit the gym 2 times this weekend for an hour or more each time. Unfortunately the gym hit back both times. The scale is dipping down again, but better than that my clothes are feeling loose again. Yay, inches are being lost. I think its all those teeny tiny girls at the gym that are motivating me.

3. Laundry was done. I hate laundry. Laundry is the pits.

4. Visited the place of supreme evil (Walmart) and only spent $30 on assorted low calorie drinks. Hmmm can you guess I went there after working out and after forgetting to take my water bottle along?

5. Cleaned 2 of 3 liter boxes. Do I win an award for that? I think I should, cos my kitties are full of shit! I'd rather do laundry.

6. Finished my return for my local taxes to find, I paid em way too much money last year.

7. Took pictures...but not with the new camera..I'm saving it for a special occasion.

Now I'm really tired, but I need to get an hour on the ski machine and I need to clean some more. (And there's stuff I'd like to do on the computer too)

I Have Such An Exciting Life

I hope everyone can pick up on the sarcasm in the title of this post. It's Sunday morning before 8 a.m. and here I sit at my desk pondering if I'm going to work out this morning. Most likely I am, though I'd rather do just about anything else.

St. Patrick's Day was uneventful...though I did drink a green beer. Yeah. I've lived 32 years of life without ever having a green beer.

and of course with that green beer I had to have a Reuben because that was the closest thing to corned beef and cabbage that was on the menu.

And a platter isn't complete without a PICKLE

Yeah, and if you think that use of the station's bad bad bad overused ID is awful, you should hear all the "fish" jokes that come my way on Fridays since it's lent. Oye! A certain fishy boy should have burning ears most of the day.

But back to my very uneventful St Patrick's Day. After we ate, sis and I decided that we had no desire to return home to listen to her ever squabbling sons, so we decided to go driving...Erm chasing rainbows if you will. This one in particular

No pot of gold to be found, and getting the picture of the strange not-quite-a-rainbow, rainbow was difficult...This is where I was standing when I took that shot

After I caught the elusive rainbow we continued to drive. Can you see how badly we didn't want to go home? Yeah I thought you could. So I decided I wanted to see if I could get a few shots of the Henry bridge in Mingo Park after the snow...

I came home and the beer kicked in....sending me to bed at the insanely early hour of 10:30 on a Saturday night. How wrong is that?

Sometimes Cheesy Says It All

I'm a child of the 80's. I can't help it. I was born in 1974. So the cheesy music of that decade is more my thing. At the end of the 80's a band from Sweden hit the scene. Anyone remember Roxette, besides me?

Probably not.

I adored this band. I still do, but I don't let too many people know that.

Whoops!

I guess I let the cat out of the bag, eh?

Well in 1991 they released an album that gave new meaning to the word cheesy. Infectious pop music, yes. Good music, well probably not. In fact this music is so cheesy I recommend a good bottle of red to go with it. This particular song might possibly = the same level of cheesy badness of that evil, won't go away song, Yummy Yummy Yummy.

However this damn song seems to say all I want to say at this point....

Hello...you fool...

Roxette - Joyride....

Join the joyride...

Go ahead...play the cute song...get it stuck in your head. I think I'm going to be listening to Roxette a lot this weekend. It's a little bit better than Yummy Yummy Yummy.

So Much To Say....No One To Listen

I love my captive blog audience. At least I can be assured that someone will listen to my rants, raves and assorted mutterings.

~ The new camera is here. The battery is charged. I think I might even know how to use it. It's a bit different from my other lovely Easyshare, but it wouldn't be an Easyshare if it weren't easy to use.

~ I need to get yet another cord so I can sync music to my new cell phone. I now have the memory card, but no cord. GAH! And I will not ...nope will not pay to download music when I have over 6000 mp3s on my own computer.

~ I bought this for mom.

Lordy..it has Puff The Magic Dragon on it. I cannot begin to say how scared that makes me. My mother loves that song too. (And I promised to make sure she got to hear the disc) I think I'm going to be skipping over that song a lot.

~ I love this song. Everyone should hear it. I love Grey Eye Glances. They've been playing a lot of shows in the Philly area. Grrrr. Not that I'd ever have anyone to go with. Grrrr. For those of you that don't know, Grey Eye Glances or GEG are a folky, progressive band out of the South Jersey/Philly area. Jennifer Noble has one of the best voices I've heard anywhere.

Grey Eye Glances -...

Listen to this song. Cos I said so! Clicky the little blue button under the birdy.

~ As soon as the household chores are done today I'm going to the gym. I haven't been there in 2 days because of family stuff and bad weather. I need to exercise off my frustrations. Lord knows I have a lot of those right now.

~ I have an idea to keep my writing project going. It's a good idea. I have dialogue lurking about in my head, but I can't bring myself to open the document to work on it. ARGH!

The Continuing Saga Of A Girl & A Fish

The last two days have been very interesting on the Fishy (PH) front. Yesterday I had a nice chat with him while telling him my mum and dad's info about their wedding anniversary. I think I talked to him without sounding like a blithering idiot.

Do I get points for that?

He played Paul Stookey's The Wedding Song (There Is Love) for them. My mum adores that song, so much that I went and ordered the CD for her today. Little did he know that my talking to him was the highlight of my day. I usually only get to talk to him once a week for a few seconds. This was like a bonus for me.

He made mum very happy. She even called him to tell him thanks, cos he was such a nice little Fishy.

This morning while telling a story about the Star Wars 30th Anniversary, he mentioned that last week their was a 100th b-day. I'm still pondering if he was thinking of my grandma. I wonder if he knows I didn't ask him to wish her a happy b-day. Hmmm. Does that mean he was thinking about me this morning, before I called?

~looks hopeful~

I had another little chat when I called in to request my song. Yeah, I couldn't take a week off, if I tried. I need my Fishy fix. I ranted about The Moody Blues' summer tour schedule, because I don't think I'm going to bother to try to see them this time around. I don't want to waste my Atlantic City trip on a concert. It takes up too much time. Plus, and I never thought I'd say this, but the setlist hasn't changed and it's just not worth $100 to see them, though they are still one of my favorite bands.

~sigh~

Now if he'd just think of me enough that he'd want that phone number that I would more than willingly give to him, if he'd just ask.

But hey, at least he knows I exist....this is good.

I think it's quite possible that he likes me too....

Things are looking upward on the Fishy front, right?

Top 5 On Friday - Week 115

It's the wearing o' the green edition of The Top 5 from this particular lady from Music Memoirs

Top 5 musical things (songs, albums, bands..whatever) that put you in the St Patrick's Day mood.

Elvis Costello w/Anuna - Long Journey Home

This is one of my favorite Elvis Costello songs. It's truly a beautiful track and Anuna gives it a gorgeous Celtic sound.

Enya - Then Celts

It's Enya, what more can I say?

Mary Fahl - Going Home

You only have to listen to her voice to understand.

Caroline Lavelle - Bushes and Briars

One of the most beautiful female vocalists out there. She plays harp for Loreena McKennitt

Irish Rovers - Beer Beer Beer

What would St Patty's Day be without a drinking song?

I'd add the Pogues to this list, but if Moody Mistress does the meme this week, she'll have a better pick than I would.

I'm Such A Fool

OK, if I thought he'd come here today...I'd scream at the top of my lungs, "ASK FOR MY PHONE NUMBER, DAMMIT!"

His email hates me...and he checked the blog yesterday...and what he read besides that first post about my parents' anniversary I don't know.

We established this before, but I'm positive it does now.

So, to add to my pain, I don't know if he's getting the emails or not?

Now what's a girl with a huge crush to do? Huh? Huh?

I'm doing my best not to be a pest...My confidence is at a new low. I wish I could just come out and ask him to meet me for coffee or drinks or something somewhere, but considering the email issue I'm too scared, because if I get no reply I wouldn't know if he didn't get the email or if he was just ignoring me. (That and getting a no would probably devastate me at this point) <------- This is what's keeping me from asking when I call in on Fridays. Something I'm not sure I'm going to do today, because fear has taken over.

Every insecurity I have has reared its head.

Am I not pretty enough?

Am I not interesting enough?

GAH!

I want today to be over, and I just want to go hide somewhere.

It Was 55 Years Ago Today

I thought it would be nice to share my parents wedding photo. I can only hope to find a love half as strong and as enduring as theirs is.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad

Today is my mom and dad's 55th wedding anniversary. God bless them. Neither of them has tried to kill one another and both of them still love each other very much.

They are one of the few couples that still allow me to have faith in the institution of marriage which I generally don't care to much for, since most people tend to bail out when the going is rough.

I know my parents have had rough patches, but they worked through their problems and though there wasn't always money for everything they wanted, they made it work and they gave all they could to their three children...my brother, Rudy; my sister, Debby; and myself.

I can only thank them both for being wonderful parents...and its my greatest wish that they have many more years together.

Taking Requests

Why do I do this to myself every Friday morning? I'm not quite sure. I swear I spend the whole week trying to come up with a song that I love...that isn't too cheesy or a band that I don't care what song is played, because I love them.

Do I do it for the music? Probably not. Do I do it to talk to the DJ for a few short seconds out of the week? Most likely.

I probably should skip a week.

I'm not sure if I could survive if I did though. It kinda takes the boy out of the box for a few minutes if that makes any sense. PH being the boy in the box.

And no matter how I look at it, I can't get the boy out of the box. When he's at work...his box is the radio...at home it's the computer.

Pooh!

So I've got to come up with a good song or band in another 24 hours. So far I've requested...Gordon Lightfoot, The Moody Blues, Gary Puckett, ABBA, Three Dog Night, Tommy James and Herman's Hermits. I'm at a loss for what to request now. Maybe I should take the week off.

~sigh~

But then I wouldn't get to talk to PH for that brief 30 seconds...and that would make me a sad sad girl.

New Toys

Well my cell phone should arrive today. I'm tempted to stay home from the gym to figure it out, assuming it gets here on time.

I never thought I'd miss a cell phone as much as I do. But all that should be over sometime today! Yay!

I'm just wondering how long it will take for me to figure out how all the new features on it work. I think this one has a camera and an mp3 player built in to confuse me. Why can't a phone just be a phone? My electronics really don't need to multi-task that much.

Oh and guess what? In the battle of mp3 player and camera, camera won. I got the Z610 Kodak Easyshare for $209 last night on Best Buy's website! Squee!

That should arrive at my house by the 21st! Who wants to be the first person I take a picture of. I can think of one person...but never mind that.

Now I have to hunker down and start paying off the bills I've made this week. New clothes...new toys...the tickets to the Grass Roots concert....(which I can't help but say again...are 3rd row center!!)

But I'm not going to think about the money just yet. I'm going to concentrate on the new toys I'm going to have to play with very soon.

What's The Score?

I can't remember where I left off on the tally of points between PH and myself in the alls fair in love and war game we've got going on...or in this case, all's fair in some really bad flirting and other things that end up making my face turn red.

As I mentioned PH has been a bit under the weather with the flu. Huggles to PH..cos I hate to see my friends sick. But back to the story at hand. I got it into my head to send him a get well e-card, cos I do goofy things like that.

So I found a cute card starring my favorite characters; Hoops and Yoyo and I sent it on its merry way to PH.

When I woke up I saw that he had viewed the card....cos Hallmark sends emails out to let you know when cards are delivered and viewed. I got an email before work saying thanks etc. I was happy. Brightened PH's day, I hope. Emailed him back as I always do and went about my business. Off to work.

I'm piddling around the office, listening to the morning show, as I do every day, when he starts talking about an email he got from someone saying he's sounded down. Then he mentions this nice e-card he got from Andrea....and I almost fall out of my chair. Not to mention the fact that my boss looked at me kinda funny.

Boy was my face red. So yeah, PH made me blush, cos I sure wasn't expecting that. Not for a minute was I expecting that. Nope, no way...came at me out of nowhere.

So it looks like PH has scored again, while I've got only a handful of points. I think he get's bonus points for making me blush when I wasn't even trying to flirt.

But in retaliation..he finished by saying you guys like me, you really like me.

To which I reply..."Haven't I been hinting at that for the last few months?" Wait..I've been crushing on PH since Oct....crikey...Yeah...PH...we like you....we like you a lot. (And that's just because he's a sweetie pie and such a cute widdle Fish...and not because he's the DJ that keeps me sane)

So, what is the score anyway? How bad am I losing now?

Song Of The Day

I think there's a song from the musical Chess that suits my mood right now. I just don't know how to deal with crushes anymore. I didn't deal well with them when they were the common occurance of a silly teenage girl. At 32 I deal with them even more terribly then before.

Here...listen to my song...

02 Heaven Help My ...

It's sung by Elaine Paige, who also starred in Cats as Grizabella, and Evita as Eva Peron. Music by Benny and Bjorn of ABBA fame, lyrics by the incredible Tim Rice.

Enjoy!

It Just Keeps Getting More Random

~ PH had the flu over the weekend. It's funny...well having the flu isn't funny, but this morning he didn't sound sick, until the commericals and whatnot that he obviously did after the morning show. Just call him CONGESTION BOY! I hope he's feeling better ASAP, my email inbox misses him.

~ I worked out for an hour and fifteen minutes today. I did 30 squats with a ten lb. barbell ON MY NECK. 3 words...OH THE PAIN!

~ My personal trainer...she likes to make me suffer. She's a sweet little girl...weighs about 3 lbs and is about 4'11. If I wanted to be built like her I'd have to stop eating now....and never eat another thing that tasted like food ever again.

~ It's no secret...at least once a week a friend of mine visits my blog. This friend just won't leave a comment....I think because if this friend did....I would be overcome with joy and expire in my seat when I viewed it. I know when this friend visits too, because they surf on in via the same google search. Why I haven't been bookmarked yet, I don't know, but the world is full of mysteries...and most of them surround this person.

~ I'm getting terribly lazy about things at home. I think it's the new routine I'm on. I come home from work and then go to the gym, and I don't get back until 6:30 or later....Must clean liter boxes....Must clean liter boxes.

~ I want new clothes...everywhere I go they scream out at me. Buy me....Buy me! You will look cute and hip if you just buy me. And do you know what? I'm easily seduced by clothes. Someone stop me! JC Penney just sucket $53 bucks from me...but the outfit was so darn cute. NOW I NEED SHOES! I also need a date...Someone, anyone...man or fish.....or some strange combination of the two?

Monday Randomness

~ I wish some tard would stop calling my cell phone. I swear I've told just about everyone that I have no access to it. I left it on last night and I've now acquired another voice mail that I can't answer until sometime in the middle of the week when my new phone comes in the mail. ARGH!

~ Ever have your feelings hurt by someone just not saying something? Yeah. And I don't even feel right ranting about it. Maybe I'm just being hypersensitive. It's been known to happen. ~sigh~ Must forget about it. Even though it happened not once but twice this weekend, with 2 different people.

~ Through the kindness of family, I think I have the money for the stupid cell phone, since I only won 70 cents at Wheeling yesterday.

~ I really hope today I can get to the gym to workout. The weekend with the family means way too much food was consumed. I need to get rid of some of it, before it decides to linger.

~ I had an interesting dream last night. Unfortunately I woke up. I could have stood that dream to last a few hours longer. OK, it could have lasted into next week and I would been quite pleased. Gee. I didn't even take any meds before bed, so this dream came from my own natural brain function. Wow! My brain was functioning! Woot!

~ I found I'm not quite as allergic to children as I once thought I was. That however doesn't change the fact that I only like them when I can give them back to their parents.

~ One more picture from the party!

Me and my cousin Will!

My Girls

Two days of good photos of me...it's unbelievable.

These are pics of me with my youngest nieces...Amanda and Ali

It was a lovely weekend even with the flat tire and cell phone troubles. I enjoyed spending time with everyone and I think things with my sister are improving slightly. We had a good time in Wheeling, the food was great, as always and we walked around a bit, to walk off the food that we ate. A good time was had by all.

Back To Normal

It's funny, I thought the weekend would be completely fab. But as I was going out to get in my car this morning, I had a flat tire.

ARGH!

So much for my workout. I could have taken my sister's car, but I won't use it unless it's an emergency and I'm going to work or she's in the car with me. I guess I'll be doing the ski machine in a bit. Plus I'm still without a cell phone. Glad I didn't just hop into Bernie this morning, or I would have been screwed.

Things aren't all bad though. I'm going to return the worthless cell charger, so that money will go against the new phone I had to buy. 115 bucks....That still makes me quake in my boots. At least I'll get $50 back from my rebate, so it could be worse.

Sis and I have decided that since we're going to Washington to return the charger, we might as well drive 25 miles further and go to Wheeling. I don't even remember when we were there last. November maybe? I'm not sure. I'm going to gamble $5 and eat Islander buffet even though it's not good for my diet. Fuck it! I deserve something other than bills from this weekend.

Big Brother is going to install my DVD burner drive. Woot! I'll get to burn a few things I've been wanting to burn for awhile for friends and family. Plus I'll have a CD Burner and DVD burner on this computer.

And lastly another photo from the party

Happy 100th B-day Grandma

The party went well. All my close family...including all of my brother's family....wives 1, 2 and 3 were there. How interesting. Plus members of my grandma's family that I've never met in my life.

Dinner was wonderful and Grandma had a blast, so it was all good.

First up...a picture of the B-day girl

Next up is a picture of Mom, Gram and Me

I played with countless babies....and kids...

The photo has me with all my brother's girls Melanie, Amanda, Olivia, Monica and Ali

The best picture was the stress relief of my brother's wife..

Damn and Blast

My cell phone died today. It died a horrid awful death. It fell apart. In two little pieces.

Grrrrr.

I tried to get my old Motorola phone to activate. No luck there. At least I can return the charger that I bought that's essentially useless to me now. So I get to make another trip to Washington Crown Center this weekend.

Yay!

Unfortunately I will be without a cell phone for the next 4 or 5 days.

Grrrrrr.

I don't even use the damn phone that much but being without it is sending me into a panic. What if Bernie up and dies on me too? How will I get rescued?

I will be living in total fear until the new phone shows up in my hands.

Jill was the last person to be phoned on the piece of poo Samsung phone. She got to hear me making a fool of myself while speaking to a certain Fishy DJ. Ah...the joys of Friday mornings, when my confidence hits high levels and I get giddy just speaking to someone for about 1 minute. Damn I'm a dorkalope. And a dorkalope with a huge crush.

~sigh~

RIP Cell phones...I shall miss you...

Yay For Friday

~ Busy Busy Busy..I need to get the cake for my grandma's party tomorrow. There's so much I need to do tonight to get ready for the party. I have to make sure I have batteries for the camera, because I need to take loads of pictures. I need to do a bit of shopping for gram when I go get the cake. No time for working out tonight. Tomorrow morning I will be up bright and early to get my workout in.

~ I do feel a bit better today than I did yesterday. I think it had to do with the togetherness thing being eliminated during the hours I was in the house. Deep breaths...and getting to bed by 10 p.m.

~ The paychecks weren't in the mail yesterday. They damn well better be in the mail today, because I need the money!

~ Oh did you think I forgot to play Top 5 Of Friday from Music Memoirs

Top 5 songs/albums or bands to listen to when working out.

Erasure - In The Name Of The Heart
This is a b-side from one of the singles from the 90's. Exercising to Erasure is great fun. Their Wonderland disc is probably the best, because their aren't as many ballads/slow tracks on that one as compared to later albums.

Elvis Costello - Monkey To Man
There's so much energy in this song. If I need a whole album though, Punch the Clock is a favorite. It's so cheesy and so very 80's....Get Happy is a good one too.

ABBA - Mamma Mia

Billie Myers - Am I Here Yet (Return To Sender)
One of my favorite songs...click the cute little widgets to play this one and the next song.

Billie Myers - Am ...

Tommy James - Lupe & Joe
This is one of my favorites from the Hold The Fire CD. Everyone needs this album.

It's The Little Things

A few things that made me grin today...

1. Cute new workout clothes for only $15 at Walmart. I think I joined the gym just to have an excuse to buy cute workout clothes!

2. Tomorrow's Friday!

3. An email from a certain little Fishy.

4. Working out for nearly an hour and a half....and wanting to go on for another hour.

Yes, I feel a bit better now. I'm still a bit crabby...but I feel better than I did this morning.

I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

I'm just not feeling right lately. I can't stress enough that we need to be back to our normal routine in this house soon. I don't know if the relationships in my family can handle these last few weeks, I really don't.

I can't remember when I last had a reason to smile, a real reason to smile. That's how burned out I feel right now. Or is it being burned out, maybe I'm just down. Either way I can't ever remember feeling this bad before. And this isn't me.

I need to do something so get my groove back on, so to speak. Hmmm. How Andrea got her groove on. LOL! That would be a book no one would read!

I'm going to step back from a lot of things today and reassess. So if you usually hear from me, well I will likely be in hiding today, trying to sort myself out.

I feel like I'm being a pest to all my friends and well I think the word bitch can be tossed around in this house to describe me right now. Everything is making me snap.

The worst of this, I have so much I want to share that's good, but I have no one that really wants to hear it. So I've vowed not to say anything to some people until I have something more "up" to talk about. Anyway at least one of these people won't miss hearing from me as much as I will miss hearing from them.

My seats for The Grass Roots show are 3rd row center, I mentioned that yesterday. That's the first time I've ever been that close in a show that I bought tickets for. I'm really excited, even though I'm questioning my motives for going.

~big sigh~

I can't wait to get back to the gym of mirrors, so I can vent my frustrations. Maybe a few days of exercise will do me good.

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen things that would make me the happiest girl on the planet.

1. My sister to go back to her house and stay for a few days...allowing the rest of us a breather so we don't kill each other during her convalesence.

2. PH to decide that he's not scared of me and request that little 10 digit number that makes Alexander Graham Bell's invention ring.

3. The temperatures to hit 60 degrees at least.

4. This weekend to actually be nice for Grandma and mum. I hope this party doesn't cause too much stress on either of them.

5. To get someone to take on photo of me with my mum and my grandma, so that I can have one that wasn't studio done. There was a family photo taken in the 90's for our church directory, but it's horrid.

6. For me to lose my uncomfortable feeling at the gym. I really love the new place I'm going to. The trainer I worked with was sweet and not at all obnoxious even though she couldn't weigh more than 90 lbs. ARGH! I want to weigh 90 lbs!

7. If 2 couldn't happen...if PH would assure me that I'm not "crazy email girl."

8. A hug

9. My hair to look normal, just once without me having to fight with it.

10. Those mirrors at the gym to be less...erm...what's the word I'm looking for...EVIL! Looking at yourself while working out can be a scary thing. A very scary thing.

11. 10 lbs to leave my body....20 and I'd be happy and you could call me Twiggy.

12. Someone to pay the bill after I go to JC Penny's and buy some of the really gorgeous clothes they had in the most recent mailer.

13. A trip to Wheeling Island to gamble 20 bucks, eat, and walk about.

This Just Doesn't Seem To Be My Day

Remember that Monkees song? I think it was from either the first or second album. I can't recall which right now, or maybe it wasn't either, who knows but it was a Monkees song.

I guess I should have stayed in bed the pillow wrapped around my head....

Yup, that sums up today.

In less than 2 inches of snow, I nearly wrecked my car not once...not twice...but three times...in the space of 4 blocks...going less than 10 mph.

Way to clean the streets! The roads were all slippery and slushy. Once I slid into the sidewalk wall. How Bernie the Beretta came out of that unscathed, I do not know. Twice I did fishtail turns to end up in the other lane, before I gave up and turned around and came home.

I think I shook for about an hour after that ordeal. And have I mentioned it was less than 2 inches of snow?

I think if the boss would have said, come in around 11...all would have been well with the world. But nope...try to come in at 9, when Charleroi had barely started to salt the streets, even though this storm was expected. They knew it was coming. It was no big secret!

Moving right along...I'm feeling particularly crappy with life right now. The amount of togetherness I'm dealing with is getting to me. I'm not a shiny happy girl right now. I need to get away from everyone, because my fuse is getting shorter and shorter. This isn't good. Because I'm snapping at people that don't deserve to be snapped at. And I'm finding myself latching on to people that probably would rather not have to deal with me, the human steamroller.

~sigh~

I think the only bright part of my day was getting my Grass Roots concert tickets. 3rd row dead center almost on the aisle. I'll be able to make goo goo eyes at PH, that's how close I'll be. Poor PH...he probably should be canonized for putting up with me. He's a good egg, he is.

Hump Day

~ Yay it's Wednesday. Two more days til the weekend. And yay I get to go to the gym tonight. So this snow needs to stop now! Because I need to get some frustrations out of my system.

~ I miss the hump day hunks. Some more than others. Though it's quite funny, I find that I don't really lust/fantasize after any of them anymore. Well except for that one hunk that I don't have to mention.

~ I'm really apathetic about concerts this year. Unless the Moodies play somewhere less than 3 hours away and on a weekend, I'm not going to bother. I'm not interested, even though I love the music. I learned last year, Atlantic City is much more fun when I don't have to worry about having a concert sucking my time.

~ I think I love the state of VT. They want to impeach the President. Woot!

~ I made the March Mix in my year of mixes, sometime soon I'm going to post those mixes over at my Art Of The Mix Page. Most likely on Sunday because until the weekend my time to myself is going to be pretty limited.

~ My mom fell in love with Paul Stookey's Wedding Song so much yesterday that she told me to email PH about it. Funny, she never paid attention to it when I played it. It's on my Zen.

~ Speaking of Zen. I had a blissful half hour of music on my Zen where it played absolute favorites of mine when I hit random. One day I'm going to sort the Zen out so that I have everything I love on there as well as music I can exercise too. You just can't exercise to most Moody Blues music or for that matter Grey Eye Glances, even though I love both bands to pieces. Actually I just need to start making playlists, but I'm so lazy when it comes to stuff like that.

~ I need to see some cuteness...so ....erm..

Suddenly this blog is a much prettier place. Mmmmm. Yup. Very easy on the eyes.

Laugh With Me

The teenage girl that's left in me had to do it. And since he's too busy to check the blog to see what ornery stuff I've been up to....Muhahahaha

What Fish Means

F is for Frisky

I is for Intense

S is for Slippery

H is for Hardworking

If only he was more frisky and less slippery....dammit! Of course, I've not encountered many frisky fish...and the ones I have encountered that were frisky, ended up on the floor and then flushed away...Hmmm maybe that's not frisky...just suicidal.

Anywho...I better stop while I'm behind.

Fun Stuff

~ First up...a mindless blogthing

What Andrea Means

A is for Amazing

N is for Naughty

D is for Deep

R is for Responsible

E is for Excellent

A is for Amorous

Hey, I'm amazingly naughty and amorous, and if I say anything more my foot will be in my mouth.

~ Any time things get too stressful, ABBA is the cureall. Today has been an ABBA day. The song Chiquititia is a good one for bringing smiles. If that doesn't work, listen to Indie bands covering Neil Diamond tunes. If you don't grin after one or two songs, you're hopeless. (Especially when one of the tracks is Little Bit Me, Little Bit You and it's sung by a band trying to emulate Davy Jones) And for godsake don't tell anyone I like Neil Diamond, m'kay?

~ The Musical Avenue Q is always good for a few laughs. I've always been partial to the song What Do You Do With A B.A. In English / It Sucks To Be Me. I wish this show hadn't gone from Broadway to Vegas. I would love to see a touring company of it. But I guess it's hard to find a bunch of people that can sing that are also able to use puppets properly

~ PH played the best silly/fun song today. Ringo Starr's No No Song. I will now be singing that for the rest of the day. Be Warned!

I Got My Tickets!

Well, I spent 20 minutes trying to get through to the State Theater in Uniontown, but I got through and I have 2 tickets to see The Grass Roots (Mmmm Rob Grill) and a host of other bands that I don't care about on Oct 6. Making a small assumption...I'll probably see PH too, which won't hurt my eyes one bit. In fact, they'll probably have a little bit of sparkle in them.

This is probably the first time I've bought tickets and had no clue as to where my seats are. I'm safe to assume the front row is owned by the station. (Grrrr) Here's hoping I'm somewhere in the first 10 rows. (That's always good for picture taking) Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get a better shot of PH too. Tee Hee.

I'm such a goober.

Now I need to calm myself down from the stress of trying to get tickets and again ponder why tickets for a show in Oct have to go on sale in March!

Damn that's just flipping ridiculous. But since it's over and I know I likely have damn good seats...and I'll get to see a good band...and PH...Squee!

This and That

~ Operation revamp The Mistress Of The Dark starts tomorrow, with a little box of Garneir hair color in the shade of Black Cherry. Now if only my hair would grow a bit faster. I'm losing patience.

~ I think I have to buy concert tickets for an Oct show today, which I don't want to do, but I don't want crap seats if I'm going. 90 bucks for 2 tickets for a show in Oct. How do I know I'm going to be alive in Oct? Crikey.

~ Who wants to help me hunt that lying stinking groundhog? Seriously! An early spring? I don't fucking hardly think so. PAH!

~ Saturday is grandma's b-day party, 100 years....she amazes me. She will always amaze me.

~ Those damn songs from Music & Lyrics are still stuck in my head. They are so bad too, but so good in so many ways. I'm embarrassed that I like them and I have them downloaded.

~ My morning hasn't started out right. Not a good thing, but I'll get over it. I need to get over a lot of things.

~ And a random thought that involves something that PH said this morning ....If the energy drink has given you that much energy..and you are at a loss for what to do with the excess....well give me a call and I'm sure I can help you out.

And on that note before I stick my foot in it ...though I already have...I'm going to fix breakfasat and hope this day goes by really quickly.

To Quote The Fat Orange Cat

Diet is Die with a T.

Today at Walmart, while I was losing my mind and my last nerve, I stocked up on all kinds of healthy food.

I have yogurt. I have smoothies that are only 65 calories. I have Weight Watchers and Lean Cuisine TV dinners.

I also have a few spiffy workout outfits.

Hey, there's eye candy at this gym. If I'm going to be surrounded by college boys, I want to look cute, even though I'm 32 and none of them would ever give me the time of day. OK, I wouldn't want them to give me the time of day. I didn't want college boys when I was in college.

I somehow decided on 120 as my ideal weight. I'm not sure where I pulled that number from. I was 125 2 years ago when I was working at Curves, that's probably a more reasonable goal.

All I know is that I want to change myself into something different. Someone that will make people stop and notice. No one's ever done that before.

Yeah...I have dreams of being devastingly attractive, ok, maybe not devastating attractive...how about adorable, can I be adorable? I want to be adorable!

There was a song lyric that went "I want to change my clothes my hair my face...."

That's how I feel right now.

Lordy that's a Springsteen song...shoot me! I don't want to feel like a Springsteen song. I'd rather feel like a Madonna song. I want to feel like Causing A Commotion or Open Your Heart, a little bit cheesy...a little bit sexy. I wonder if I could pull off the cone bra? Probably not. But there's a little part of me that would love to try just for shock value.

I think I better concentrate on the diet first. Then I'll work on my image. Do I even have an image? Crap I knew there was something I didn't have. Now I'll just have to get one, but not until I'm sufficiently skinny and sexy...erm maybe I'm pushing it....with the sexy...

Allow Me To Scream

This is the post where I say that I need to get in my car and drive somewhere where I can scream at the top of my lungs without having the men in white coats come after me.

~ Upon completion of the laundry I was handed a grocery shopping list for my grandma. I don't begrudge her a thing, but I wish she would have told me about it yesterday, because I would have gone today. Along with that I have to fill out her property tax rebate form and get all her info copied.

~ I have to go to the dreaded Walmart today. I need to get my weight watchers/lean cuisine crap. If I'm going to diet I need these things. Again I wonder...if I get to the 120 that I've decided I want to weigh....will my life magically change? Will someone actually see me as someone other than "crazy email girl" and let me be an actual friend. NAH, probably not.

~ At some point in the last few days I realized that all my friends are spread across the country and that there's not one person nearby that I can call up and ask to go out for drinks with or walk around Pittsburgh with anymore.

~ I can't take winter anymore!

~ When did my self-esteem fall in the crapper? Anyone care to help a girl out? I need some reassurance.

~ I wish a friend of mine that reads my blog occasionally would leave a comment here. It would make me so happy...and the comments get emailed to me so I see them.

And since it's snowing and I can't drive up the mountain in Uniontown....

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!

Cheesy = Amusing

The word is FINALLY. I finally saw Music & Lyrics this weekend. If I had another 6.50..I'd sit through it again.

Why you ask? This movie is good, yes, but why is it worth the money of seeing it twice.

Hugh Grant shaking his tushie, that's why.

I could watch that over and over. Mmmmm that's a pretty sight.

And the soundtrack?

Tee Hee!

Hugh Grant sings 80's better than some of the new wave bands did. Mind you it's not intelligent music, or even good music, its fun stuff. And well, Hugh can sing to me anytime he wants.

I'm still baffled that he had to pay for sex. Cos well...I'd volunteer.

~shakes head~

That man is so damn good looking.

But back to the movie. Girls/Ladies go with friends. It's not a movie your husbands and boyfriends will want to see. It's got chick flick written all over it. Plus if you have any love for 80's pop music...You'll fall in love with the songs Pop! Goes My Heart and the song the movie was all about Way Back Into Love.

All and all a great hour and forty-six minutes. And if your men need to see something, send em to see Wild Hogs.

It's All About Me!

~ Have I mentioned that the candy at Hersheypark is very flirtatious? I think of all the photos of me taken in the last year or so, my favorite shots came from the trip to see Gary Puckett. (Even though I'm not too keen on my hair at the time of the photos)

~ I have no patience for TV. There are 3 shows I watch on a semi-regular basis; Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends (Yeah a cartoon), House and Psych. All other tv is useless to me. I'd rather read or listen to music. Actually I'd rather walk the boardwalk on the Jersey shore...or any other shore I might be near.

~ I'm very selective about the people that make up my circle of friends. I've always found it's best to have only one or two really close friends than a dozen because you're less likely to be screwed over. That said, if you fall into this category I'd likely move mountains for you.

~ I'm one of the few people out there that love exercise it seems. I fumbled my way through a few of the machines last night at the new gym. I'm going back tomorrow, and Wednesday I get to make a Personal Trainer miserable @ 6 p.m. Wheeeee! Oh and let me just say..I have muscles I forgot about. It's nice to hear from them again. Even though they are screaming just a tad.

~ I love making mix CDs most of you know that. It's time to make my March mix..though damn I forgot to post my February mix over at Art of the Mix. (I'm going to do that tonight I think) I still have a few blank CDRs if any one would like a mix. Cos I like sharing my music with the world, much to the world's chagrin.

~ I'm a sucker for places like Bath & Body Works. I love bath stuff and skin stuff and anything that smells pretty. My favorite scent is freesia. I love juniper too.

~ I'm a lover of animals. I have dogs and cats and I've had guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters and turtles. Actually I still have a turtle...a man eating turtle, but that's a story for another day.

~ I'm very particular about my clothes. I hate jeans. Jeans make my butt look huge. Yes I realize that even at 135 lbs I'm not big by any means, I still don't like the way I look in jeans. I also have a tendency of buying clothes for events even if they really don't warrant a new outfit. It's a given, I'll have a new outfit for a certain concert that I'll be going to in Oct, come hell or high water.

~ The strangest things will make me like a song. Justin Hayward sings whoops in Fly Me High, which guarantees my love that song. My nephew assures me the only reason I love Tommy James' Love Words is because I like the line at the begining using the words perpetual motion. Hmmm perpetual motion can be fun. Right? It's a good thing there's nothing funny about Yummy Yummy Yummy. That song is just freaking annoying, and perverted in a not so amusing way.

~ I hate lettuce. Lettuce is evil. Iceburg lettuce is the most evil. Why can't I convince the salad people that there are other tastier greens than lettuce to use in salads?

Too Much Stuff

I'll start out with the Top 5 On Friday @ Music Memoirs

Top 5 "Ranting" songs (interpret as you see fit)

1. Elaine Paige - Nobody's Side (from the musical Chess)

This song merits my posting lyrics...by Tim Rice: Music by the male half of ABBA.

What's going on around me
Is barely making sense
I need some explanations fast
I see my present partner
In the imperfect tense
And I don't see how we can last
I feel I need a change of cast
Maybe I'm on nobody's side

And when he gives me reasons
To justify each move
They're getting harder to believe
I know this can't continue
I've still a lot to prove
There must be more I could achieve
But I don't have the nerve to leave

Everybody's playing the game
But nobody's rules are the same
Nobody's on nobody's side
Better learn to go it alone
Recognize you're out on your own
Nobody's on nobody's side

The one I should not think of
Keeps rolling through my mind
And I don't want to let that go
No lovers ever faithful
No contract truly signed
There's nothing certain left to know
And how the cracks begin to show!

Never make a promise or plan
Take a little love where you can
Nobody's on nobody's side
Never stay too long in your bed
Never lose your heart, use your head
Nobody's on nobody's side

Never take a stranger's advice
Never let a friend fool you twice
Nobody's on nobody's side
Everybody's playing the game
But nobody's rules are the same
Nobody's on nobody's side

Never leave a moment too soon
Never waste a hot afternoon
Nobody's on nobody's side
Never stay a minute too long
Don't forget the best will go wrong
Nobody's on nobody's side

Never be the first to believe
Never be the last to deceive
Nobody's on nobody's side
Never make a promise or plan...

2. Elvis Costello - The Scarlet Tide (Live version with revised lyrics)

Admit you lied and bring the boys back home

3. Boingo - War Again
Danny Elfman rants like no one else can.

4. George Harrison - Blood From A Clone
George ranting about the evil music industry.

5. Barbara Dickson & Elaine Paige - I Know Him So Well
Two woman ranting about the one man they both love. Not quite the rant the way most people see a rant, but I've lived out this song once and I feel the pain of the lyrics, so I can see the rant in it.

And well...since Chess is one of my favorite musicals...the lyrics:

Nothing is so good it lasts eternally
Perfect situations must go wrong
But this has never yet prevented me
From wanting far too much for far too long
Looking back, I could have done it differently
Won a few more moments, who can tell?
But it took time to understand the man
Now at least I know, I know him well

Wasn't it good, Wasn't it fine
Isn't it madness he can't be mine
But in the end, he needs a little more than before
Security, he needs his fantasy and freedom
I know him so well

No one in your life is with you constantly
No one is completely on your side
And though I move my world to be with him
Still the gap between us is too wide
Looking back, I could have played it differently
Learned about the man before I fell
But I was ever so much younger then

Wasn't it good (oh so good), Wasn't it fine (so fine)
Isn't it madness he can't be mine

Didn't I know how it would go
If I knew from the start
Why am I falling apart

Wasn't it fine
Isn't it madness he can't be mine
But in the end, he needs a little more than before
Security, he needs his fantasy and freedom
I know him so well
It took some to understand him

~ I requested Mamma Mia today for my mum, and it had me feeling crappy for the rest of the day. Not that it's a bad song or anything. I love ABBA. My mum loves ABBA. This song made me think about all the times we went galavanting around the area to the malls and to the record shops. I miss those days. I wish there was something I could do that could give my mother a better quality of life. Losing the companion that I had in that capacity was like losing my best friend, and no one really fills that vacancy.

I'm glad PH played the song, and it did make her laugh. However mom isn't sure if she's ready to have PH call her mommy. And yeah...I get my ornery streak from her. Now I have to rip more of my ABBA stuff to my hard drive.

~ I joined the gym today. I didn't bother to wait for the 2 week trial. This place is wonderful. Circuit training like Curves only with the ability to change the resistence. Great cardio...and the male to female ratio was pleasant. Oh yeah there was eye candy abounding. None of it my type...but pretty college boys that occassionally smiled at me. Made me feel good as I was trying to figure out the machines on my own. However, none of them could hold a candle to PH. PH is just too darn cute, but don't tell him that, he'll get a swelled head.

~ Oh and apparently I'm one of 2 people that call PH Fishy. I figure since he hasn't told me to stop, I'm not going to get bitchslapped anytime soon. I just hope he doesn't call me "crazy email girl."

No Water! Yikes

I'm so glad I took a bath before bed last night, because sometime over the last 7 hours a water main broke and we have no water. Well, it's coming back, but I'm not washing my face or hair in brown water. Bleh

Makes getting ready for work so much more fun, doncha think?

I'd say I'd go in my PJs except that it's raining and that would be no fun at all. I hate not being able to wash my hair and brushing my teeth was a chore. (Using bottled water for godsake)

Anyone want to cry with me. Because I think it's necessary.

This is such a lovely way to start the weekend. In fact, I'm scared of how the weekend is going to turn out if this is the way it's going to start.

Maybe I should hibernate for the next 48 hours. For safety's sake. My safety.

I Got The Big Glass

We took the oldest nephew out for his 21st b-day tonight. He's not likely to turn out into a drinker.

The very flirty bartender/waiter brought us our drinks...tonight was long island ice teas for $3.75. Yum! Big Sis and the b-day boy got Purple Haze beer and the bartender brought a special shot for b-day boy. A Hot Sauce Shot. Sadly the b-day boy didn't know how to drink it.

Note to b-day boy...you don't sip shots. You down em', FAST!

I think I'll have the look on his face burned into my memory for life. His eyeballs were bulging out like a cartoon character's.

Me, I just drank my long island ice tea and became more and more sleepy.

I'm a terribly cheap date. 1 drink in the big glass and I'm toast!

Let's Start Over

That's what I feel like I'm going to be doing this week. I got a free 2 week trial membership at a local gym. I figure it can't hurt to give it a go, right? Especially as the ski machine is boring me to tears.

I just hope that since it's not Curves, it's not a place that turns into a glorified meat market. I don't want to subject myself to teeny tiny wenches parading around in cute leotard etc to attract the attention of local beefcake. YUCK!

My self-esteem couldn't take that.

But because I'm feeling like a fat cow right now I'm going to try it out. Maybe I'll like it.

I'm dreading stepping on their scale, because I know that those always seem to give me a few extra pounds I didn't know I had...and my home scale is depressing me, so this is going to be a not very fun experience to start with. All in all it makes it an incentive to start with it and stick with it.

So tomorrow at 5:30 I'll be exercising my little heart out.

A Little Birdy...Erm A Little Fishy Told Me

That today was Donnie Iris' b-day. I can't neglect one of Pittsburgh's own rocking geeks. Happy 64th Donnie.

Hmmm that doesn't look like a normal ciggie he's smoking!

I wonder if he'd let me know if I gave good leg in my little black dress.

(Must get that damn song out of my head)

Getting A Grip

Ok..I've taken a chill pill. This morning started out badly for me. I have a tendency to not look at the big picture when it's something I don't want to see.

I know I'm not the only one that feels that way. I guess it's the spoiled brat in me rearing it's ugly head and saying I want what I want and I want it now, when I know full well that things take time.

~deep breaths~

If I had my way I'd walk off this funk, but the only walking I'm going to be doing is going to be on my ski machine in the basement. And that's so damn boring, but if I have the right music and the ability to sing at the top of my lungs, I can usually get rid of what's bothering me. (And I can scare the rest of the family at the same time. Woot!)

I may need more than an hour on it today, because there's still a lot of stuff I need to get out of my system. I hope my muvo's batteries last that long.

Things I've Stopped Believing In

Love: It doesn't exist. Except for family bonds and pets. Everything else is a delusion brought on by TV and romance novels.

Marriage: I've never wanted it. I've seen too many bad ones to think this is an institution that could work.

Myself: I think I stopped believing in me a long time ago. Right now I think there's something defective in me that just makes people want to run away from me, or maybe I'm just being too sensitive to things.

And yes, I'm having a rotten day already...and no I'm not in the mood to tell the world why.

Ranting Is Good For The Soul

~ The boss owes me lunch money, because apparently I'm petty cash these days. I think I've spent the last 6 hours bitching about this to anyone that will listen. Why is it so hard to keep $40 on hand for cash purchases? Never mind. I know the answer and it's not worth the aggravation.

~ I can't understand people who can do the online dating thing. Right now there's someone I'm hugely crushing on and our soul means of communication is email, except on Friday morning at about 8:30. It's making me crazy because there's only so much you can say via email. And damn it I want to hear a voice and not just from 6 - 10. Someone please convince him that I'm not a crazy and I'm safe to talk to.

~ I've lost interest in my writing project. It was something too close to real life and now it seems more so. I just can't do it right now. I get no joy from it.

~ Phipps Conservatory finally accepts online payments for members. Yup I'm going to join this year, because one day I may want to drive to the city by myself to wander through the flowers. I just wish they didn't go through Paypal. Paypal annoys the hell out of me.

~ Making decisions. Easyshare Camera 12x zoom or the 30 GB Zen Vision. Right now the camera is winning even though I have nothing to photograph.

~ I want to stay overnight at the Sheraton @ Station Square because I want to be away from my house and because they have a pool and a gorgeous view of the city. Why can't I do this? Oh yeah, a little thing called money. Anyone want to go halfsies with me?

Just Giggle

I saw this a Crse's site..and well, who wouldn't want to know what kind of panties they were

You Are Lacy Panties

You're one seductive chica, but you've also got a ton of class.
You are like a pinup girl, with timeless beauty and sexiness.
Men are afraid to talk to you, knowing they'll be addicted to your charm immediately.
Only a true manly man, confident in himself, is your perfect match.

OK, you can stop laughing now. Men..afraid of talking to me. LOL! More likely, they are just afraid of me! And beauty plays no part in it.

One Word ARGH!

Ok, I worried and I fretted over an email I sent yesterday, only to find out that the email never got to that person. I didn't find that out until it was evening, and then I worried that the next email I sent didn't show up where its supposed to.

ARGH!

And because of this I sent out another email this morning (a cheerful one even), because I don't want this person to think I'm put off, cos I'm not.

Oh and did I mention I put myself out on a limb in that first email? Yup...was at the edge of the limb....arm stretched out.

And did it get noticed...Nope.

Way to start the day off right, cos I'm an idiot and I like someone who won't give me a damn clue. I just wish I knew if that second email got there.

I don't know why I'm trying to explain anything. It doesn't make sense to me so how could it make sense anyone that isn't in the thick of it.

I feel like such a tard right now.

Pass the blanket and my pillow so I can hide under them.

Big Sigh

Ever get an email from a friend that just puts you in a complete downward spiral because you don't know how to answer it, because you don't have the right words?

Funny, me not having the right words.

It's even worse when it's a person you don't know really well, but care about. So it makes it awkward.

It took me nearly an hour to find something that I hoped was the close to the right thing to say. If I could have picked up the phone and spoken to this friend I might have been more eloquent.

~sigh~

I just hope when I did find some words they were the right ones. Damn me for not having something funny to say today, when it might make someone feel better.

Actually after reading the email, I just wanted to give my friend a big hug.

~bigger sigh~

I hate it when my friends seem miserable.

I've Got A Sulk On

It's a king sized sulk.

I ended up staying home all weekend....tripping over too many people on Saturday and then sitting around expecting to see the people I wanted to see who didn't bother to call and say they were going home early or not coming. So I didn't see my little cousins. Pah!

Anyone want to wager that I don't ever see Music & Lyrics? I swear I'm going on a Saturday now. I'm not trying for any more Sundays. Nope. Sundays are just bad all the way around.

I'm also sulking because not a single friend picked up the damn phone to let me bitch at them. It's funny. I used to lend my shoulder to so many friends when they needed it, but when I need a friend....none of them are around for me.

Plus the scale is tipping toward 133 again. Grrrr. Of course, with all the sitting around and being bored this weekend (Because you can't clean when there are 10 people in your house) food was the only thing that was amusing me.

I swear...I'm just going to stop eating. (Yeah right) Actually if the weather would turn, I managed to walk across town yesterday and I came home and did 50 minutes on the cross country ski machine, so thats good. I just wish the weather was better for walking because I miss the walking path in Monessen. I knew how far I walked and its such a pretty spot.

I think I'm going to continue my sulk for a few more hours though...

Things That Annoy Me....

Oh yes folks, it's time for another entertaining episode of THINGS THAT ANNOY ME!

~ Lent - It's pretty much the eating of fish...erm...oye does that not sound good...on Friday. Feel the innuendo that is dripping from my mind. Sadly most of my erm..fish consumption is tuna. Other kinds might be a bit more amusing though....

~ Best Buy - They have both the digital camera I want and the Zen Vision for the same damn price. Way to make my head explode.

~ That evil groundhog - Where's my early spring? I want unseasonably warm and I want it now.

~ 3/4 of my family - Too much togetherness. Oh and have I mentioned I still haven't seen Music and Lyrics? ARGH!

~ My hair - Which doesn't want to grow fast enough for me or hold the damn hair color I use. I blow raspberries at my hair. Sadly my hair flips me off back.

~ People that don't know how to operate their computers.

~ People that leave me in the dark - Some people leave me in total blackness, others semi-blackness. I think I need a night light so I don't trip at every step.

~ The feeling that I'm a total pest - No need to mention why. That's obvious. God I hope I don't see a can of RAID coming at me any time soon.

~ Friends that can't just listen - Anyone got an ear for me?

~ Britney, Anna Nicole Smith and the Oscars - A few words I DON'T GIVE A SHIT!

~ Romance novelists that can't make a heroine that's normal and not devasatingly beautiful, or for that matter a hero that's not a typical prince charming figure. Excuse me...why can't we have books about "real people" and "relationships?"

Free Laughs For Everyone

Since I found a sufficiently silly photo of myself to send to PH, because he sent me one of himself, I decided I might as well share it with the world. This is me with my oldest nephew, Raymond from somewhere around 1987 or 1988. That would put me around the age of 13.

Why limit the humiliation, right?

Laugh amongst yourselves, I allow it.

Oh and the french poodles were so jealous of that hair!

I Just Want To Here A Voice

I've gone beyond wanting advice about PH. I don't want any of that. Whatever is going to happen is going to happen. Right now, I'm stir crazy. Freezing rain is likely to keep me caged in my house for one more weekend, and that pisses me off royally.

The weather seems to think I should be completely off my head.

I don't take to being stuck in the house. I like to be out and about and these last few weeks have really taken their toll on me. I just need to be somewhere but here. With anyone but my family, truth be told. There's been way too much togetherness lately. I'm to a point where I'm just sick of them all.

Damn it, why doesn't that Hampton Inn that just opened in Rostraver not have an indoor pool? I would so be there. I know that's a wack-a-doodle idea, but right now I would gladly surrender a hundred bucks or so just to be somewhere else, even if it were only a few miles down the road.

I just want to talk to a human being. I have preferences of who I'd like that human being to be, but that's a pipe dream, so I'd take any other human out there willing to let me ramble, bitch and moan in their ear, even if it did happen to be about PH.

The Boredom Threshold Has Been Reached

I did 2 weeks worth of laundry. I've got an extra 4 people in my house right now and any of the other tasks I've set for myself can't be done until they are gone. So guess what? I'm flipping bored.

I took big sis out for a hamburger and a beer at Redd Dawg's because we both needed it. Now all I really want is a long walk somewhere, but I don't want to leave because I don't know if my other niece is coming to visit quickly before she heads home after the funeral. I've only seen her son once and I would enjoy seeing Jake and Katie, but I guess I have to wait until gram's b-day.

The Coors Light I had has other plans for me. One beer and I'm ready for an afternoon nap.

ARGH!

Which is just further proof that I'm a cheap date.

I thought I was going to get to see Music & Lyrics this weekend, but I have a funny feeling the weather is going to do me in again. Which means another 5 more days of staring at the same four walls.

Can everyone feel my frustration?

Oh and let me just add, I'm sick of exercising in the damn house. I need fresh air. I need the outside. I need to get away.

ARGH!

OK, rant ended....I'm still bored.

The Waiting Is The Hardest Part

This may come as a shock to some of you, but I'm not the most patient person in the world, and right now I'm being forced into being one.

I have to say that though I'm accepting it, I'm not liking it one bit. I like to know where I stand and when I want things, I tend to want them now! However, this is one time when I have absolutely no say in the matter. Though I wish I had a clue or something.

Second guessing is not my idea of fun, because there are so many opportunities to be wrong. I could very well be being humored or I could be the object of someone's humor.

Not to mention I'm not too keen on being a pest. I outgrew that several thousand hurts ago. Though part of me still has a bit of that college girl that I used to be that had a little bit more confidence than I do now. That girl usually shows up around 8:30 on Friday mornings so that I can make an ass of myself. Damn her to hell and back, I say.

The rest of me says play the waiting game, because I'm only waiting for a "no" and the longer it takes in coming the better off I'll be, and if I would get a "yes" I'd be more than a bit pleasantly surprised.

I suppose I should just shut up and wait and see what happens, even if the waiting is killing me.

Top 5 On Friday - Week 112

From Music Memoirs

Top 5 songs or albums that make you "think spring"

Lynn Anderson - Rose Garden

Justin Hayward - Skimming Stones

Gordon Lightfoot - Wild Strawberries
(The first person to say Ewwww to Gordon, gets clobbered...gently, of course)

The Monkees - I Wanna Be Free

The Beatles - Here Comes The Sun

Donovan - Sunshine Superman

PH Scores Bonus Points Today

Hey, I didn't even make an attempt at flirting today. (Mostly because I'm so lousy at it) I just called in to request Gordon Lightfoot because somehow I just didn't feel like requesting The Monkees today.

PH was being his cute little smartassy self and when I said I wanted to hear Gordon he let out a resounding Ewwwww, to which I replied that he didn't want me to come to the station to beat him.

I sat around the office finishing up a few of my small projects, to see if he'd play my request. Well I finally hear my voice...insert groan here...and then the song comes on. His pick, because I love almost every Gordon Lightfoot song.

I was expecting Sundown....or maybe Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald....but do you know what song I got....

Beautiful

Awww.

PH picked one of my favorite Gordon songs. I know my friend Jill would be smiling if she heard it, because I know it's a favorite of hers too.

So PH scores extra points for picking an awesome song. (((HUGS))) to PH...and I'll forget about giving him the beating, cos he'd like it too much anyway.

Finally Friday

It's about damn time Friday got here. I think there's a bottle of wine in the fridge with my name on it. Actually, I really want the Italian margarita from Garfield's in Washington. (Or any other drink really)

I figure I'm due to deal with my boss today too, as I haven't seen him all week, and well, he owes me money. Money that could pay for that drink I really want right now.

I don't know if I'm doing any babysitting, or if I'm going to see my cousins this weekend. In all the sadness, I would like to see them. I don't feel right going to the funeral. I haven't seen my godmother in at least 10 years, so I don't know what I'd do or say upon seeing her, so maybe it's best to not go. Funerals always weird me out.

Oh and PH is determined to make me cry. Sunday would have been George Harrison's 64th b-day, so we're going to be getting a bit of George this morning. Damn it, George was/is my favorite Beatle. Listening to his music this weekend will just make me sad. (ok, sadder) However, PH at least picks good GH songs, so I'll only think about clobbering him upside his cute widdle head. George is a hell of a lot better than Yummy Yummy Yummy too.

~sigh~

I hope my 8 hours go fast today. I think I'm in desperate need of "me" time right now.

And Just When I Thought I Wouldn't Smile

Seriously, this day was starting out to look like a total bummer. However, PH managed to save the day. I was @ work half listening to the morning show and half listening to my mp3 player, wishing for 4 o'clock more than any one human could.

After PH finished I checked my email. There was an awful lot of spam today, but one stuck out. I saw Froggy 94.9 and went WTF. And it was a cute little email from PH, that somehow got waylaid into my spam-a-rooni folder. And in this email was a sweet ...no...that's not a good enough word...adorable...precious even picture of a young fishy.

I found myself grinning at it several times throughout the day, just because.

It was just too freaking cute. Of course, PH is still too freaking cute, so I shouldn't have expected anything less. Mind you, now I'm wondering...should I dig up a silly picture of me to send to him. But then I don't know if seeing a youngish picture of me would make him as amused as I was when I opened that email.

~sigh~

I suppose I could just offer this

Friday? Is it here yet?

I'm not sure why I want Friday to be here. The first viewing for my ex-sister-in-law's sister is tomorrow and my family will be home this weekend. I've volunteered to babysit my youngest nieces kids if she needs help. (Cos I'm psycho like that)

I'm generally still stressed over nothing. Especially when I look at the big picture and I'm finally getting on steady footing, which is a good thing, and in a few months I'll be even better. (If I stay away from Macy's!)

My mind's just on other things...other people. The funeral is Saturday. And I have a hard time dealing with knowing someone that was only 52 is gone. Big sis is still with us. And well, that other person whose attention I keep trying to attract always figures in my mind.

I'm just not in the mood for my regular sillyness right now. I'm not exactly sure what I'm in the mood for. It's beyond cabin fever, though that's part of it. I did go to Pittsburgh this week, but the fun part of the trip was sucked away and I don't even feel like uploading the few pictures that I took.

Thank goodness for those 2 Justin Hayward songs that I have now. They bring me joy and they are relaxing me right now.

Little things are annoying me, like people not saying thank you etc. Stuff that I would usually brush off I can't.

These feelings have got to stop, before I turn into a huge nasty bitch. And honest, I'm not a bitch.

I Beg Your Pardon...

I never promised you a rose garden..

One of my online friends posted a clip of Lynn Anderson singing this song. Now it's stuck in my head.

Again, it's just so simple and sweet and the words are pretty much true.

I'm in awe of her outfit. I mean, look at those feathers and that hair!

Now sing with me...

Smile for awhile and let's be jolly....love shouldn't be so melancholy.

It's a shame it's a country song....or I'd beg PH to play it. But then PH would probably thump me over the head. It's probably a good thing I haven't run into him, cos I think he's got a few things he'd probably like to thump me over the head for.
