I've always wondered why Boston Cream Pie is called pie, when it is really a cream filled cake. So I had to go to Wikipedia to find out.
And damn it, Wikipedia didn't really have an answer.
Now that sucks, because I really think this is a question that needs answering!
I don't care who created the first Boston Cream Pie..I just want to know why he called it a pie! Oh and cutting it wedges like a pie doesn't count either because when you make a round cake you kinda don't have any other choice of how to cut it. Sheet cakes are another story.
So does anyone have a clue as to why its a pie and not a cake?
