A Profound Quote

A Profound Quote

"There's enough religion in the world to make men hate one another, but not enough to make men love."

I found this tacked to an end of a Duran Duran song, of all things. I was struck by the complete and total truth to this.

Think about it, were most wars not fought over religious beliefs of some sort? Is our lack of tolerance for other people's beliefs not the cause of most of the hate in the world?

This is a sad sad state of affairs.

My cynical self says that there are plenty of better reasons to hate someone than their religious or lack of religious beliefs.

My hearts and flowers self wonders how most religions profess to promote loving one another and yet people still are intolerant of others.

So in essence the quote is dead on the money. It's a shame people can't learn to love and respect one another and their beliefs.

Life is to short to let yourself become caught up in hatred.
