Don't Bother Me, I'm Reading

I had every intention of squeeing that I finally got to go to a restaurant yesterday, but when I got home, the internet was down and I got lost in a book.

Seriously, sometimes it is good not to have an internet connection.

I've read some really good books in the last month. So that is a plus

But that doesn't stop me from telling you if you have a chance to get a Cajun Clam Poor Boy at Redd Dawg's in Belle Vernon you should get ASAP!

Oh and wash it down with a birthday cake martini..

Oh and since I didn't get to do it yesterday....Squee

How I Know I'm Old

I used to get by on only 4 hours of sleep with no problem.

Yesterday I was on a caffeine high and didn't get to bed until about 1 a.m.

I wake up around 6 a.m. for work.

It is 10 p.m. and I feel like death warmed over because of lack of sleep.

10 years ago, this wouldn't have been an issue.

I feel so very old right now.

Saturday Snapshot

From West Metro Mommy

My camera has sadly not been used much at all in the last 3 years. This is not me whining about my caregiver duties. (OK, maybe it is a little) But really it is simply a fact.

So I went through my flickr page and I wanted to find one photo that really brought back some great memories.

Here's one photo that has a combination of memories

This is me after the Nick Lowe concert in Pittsburgh on April 27, 2008. My grandmother passed away the day before the concert. I had spent over $100 on my two tickets and my mother insisted that I not throw the money away.

It was a sad time in my life, but the few hours that I got to enjoy Nick's music as well as that of his opening act Ron Sexsmith, were the silver lining in that dark cloud.

Now I only wish I could be that thin again!

Everything Comes In Buckets

This was the scene outside my house last night around 7 PM.

That's a lot of rain.

And while things are coming down in of my boy cats has a UTI.

Not fun

Oh and today I took a urine specimen up to the vet..on my way home, I blew out a tire, so I have to drive on a donut until tomorrow after work.

That's another $100.00 down the drain.

I think it is time I have some good luck...

Stupid Internet

I've replaced one phone jack in the house..and it looks like I'm going to have to replace 3 more. (OK not me, but someone is going to have to dammit)

The internet is still spotty at best...

Most of the time my DSL is down...and when it is up its connection speed is on a dial up level.

It is getting really annoying.

I can't get anything done at all.

I can't even play my stupid games on Facebook.

That, my friends, is the true crime!

Stupid Internet

My DSL has been crapping out on me quite a bit over the last few weeks, leaving me more than a little bit frustrated and taking the wind out of my blogging sails.

There's so much I could blog about.

Anyone see Adam Ant/Jack Sparrow on Jimmy Fallon?

Speaking of Adam Ant...I was dreaming I was snogging him last night. (Poor guy)

Mom was in the ER again with rapid heartbeat...thankfully they sent her home this time when it returned to sinus rhythm.

Mid Atlantic States heat wave....It sucks!

Still addicted to Josh Groban's Brave...

Sweet bejeebus..just realized Michael Crawford is 71....ARGH..

Wish I were at Comic-Con...a screening of Psych the musical..and I'm pretty sure John Barrowman is going to be there.

Missing Mondays

It's Monday and I haven't done a Missing Monday in yonks.

This is a post where I talk about things that I've been missing.

This week it is a list of things.

1. Concerts: I haven't been to a show since I saw Gordon Lightfoot in Greensburg, 2..or is it 3 years ago. That was when I had a life.

2. Road Trips...again in the last 2 years, I haven't traveled more than 25 miles from my house because of my mom and dad's health. And I so want to go to the Botanical Gardens in Morgantown, WV!

3. Cold weather...I'm listening to Christmas songs to take the edge off the 95 degree temps we had. Seriously...this is not my kind of weather. I'm covered in sweat and we don't have whole house AC.

4. Pretty clothes...At one time I didn't care what I spent and I owned some gorgeous clothes..then I got money smart...sigh

Today's Unlikely Earworm

Every time I'm in Giant Eagle there's this song playing.

It has been driving me batty because I had no idea what the song's title was. All I knew was the artist singing it.

It was most definitely Josh Groban.

The problem was, I didn't know the title, and chorus really didn't give me any hints ....or rather any obvious ones, because the title of the song is at the end of chorus...just not the catchy part that sticks in your head.

The song that's taken my sanity?

Josh Groban - Brave

This is really a gem for those of you that like more adult contemporary/show tunes. Josh has a one of the best voices out there. (Not too hard on the eyes either)

Crazy Synth Pop

I was reviewing an album of Trip Hop music and I remembered a band I liked in the 90s.

The Shamen....Destination Eschaton...The song is infectious...the video...not so much.

Unfortunately this song is stuck in my head.

Another Crazy Day

My little fluffy orange cat decided she wanted to spend some time outside today.

Let me first say that all my cats are house cats of the spoiled rotten variety. They don't go outside.

I spent my entire evening from 7 - 9:30 trying to coax her out from under our front porch.

Thank God she likes spaghetti!

No joke, the cat came out to like tomato sauce and ground meat.

I'm hot, sweaty and bitten up by nasty bugs, but my Dewey is back in the house where she belongs.

A day without drama is no day at all, at least not in my life.

Not Looking Forward To Tomorrow

This is going to be a month of doctor's appointments. Not a good thing really. None of them are mine, but there are just so many and someone has to go with each parent, and sadly that person is always me, because I know more about their medications etc than my sister.

My mom has to have blood work done on Tuesday..her blood count was 9.8 going into the hospital and only 8 when she was leaving, but they didn't seem to be worried about that.

Dad's count was 8.8 when he went for his procrit on he has to come back this week.

Then my mom has to go to her PCP the following week.

Not looking forward to telling my boss about this.

This Is Criminal

It was the end of the mother's one heart medication was nearly empty. This pill cost  $120 to refill for 90 days, because it isn't a generic and medicare stopped covering it.

I told mom, to ask her PCP for a prescription for 15 days to tide her over until the 1st of the month.

She however said to order them anyway and I paid for the pills.

On July 2nd..she went into the hospital with a-fib.

On July 3rd the pills arrived.

On July 5th...she was discharged and that particular heart pill was no longer part of her medications.

That's $120.00 down the drain.

Might as well have thrown that money away...

It could have paid the electric bill or the phone bill..or any number of bills.

There's no recourse, even though the package isn't opened.

That my friends is truly criminal

Down Down...Doo Be Doo Down

I am depressed.

Nothing is going right for me.

Mom is in the work is in a downward spiral.

I need a change...

Dad's health is no better and there's a little dementia we are dealing with now, which isn't making it easier.

I'm not sure how much longer I can handle life as it is.

No matter how hard I try, I can't stay focused. I'm too worried about stuff we need done for the to keep my dad in line..seriously...sometimes he's as stubborn as a mule.

I have some help, but not on the big things..

And I need lots of help. (Probably some mental too)

I probably need lots of beer too

My Birthday Curse

Well happy friggin' birthday to me.

This is the second year in a row that my mom has spent the day in the hospital. Today she had an afib attack brought on by dehydration.

Oye to the vey..

Oh and my computer was acting up too, in a most unfriendly way.

Here's hoping July 3rd will be a better day...cos July 2nd sure has been lousy for the last two years.

I Can Have My Cake And Eat It To

Tomorrow is my 39th birthday.

I just made my own birthday cake. I think there are a few hundred million reasons why that is wrong. However, I really don't think anyone should pay $20 or more for a cake.

So I had a funfetti mix and the icing that goes with it, so Voila! Cake!

Now if only I can convince people not to sing at me tomorrow.

The only thing I must do is ponder...Kindle Fire HD or Nook HD....
