15 Minutes of Fame

Ok, I can't remember if I told you, but shortly after I started my job, I had my picture taken for the paper. Well, the picture finally ran this past Thursday.

I look like a total goober, but hey! I was famous for a few seconds!

My boss and I at work Posted by Hello

I have it posted at my photoblog too, for any unsuspecting people that wander over there.

Damn, this picture was taken before I really started to lose weight. I look like a Cow

I don't want to hear it

Remind me not to read things about my favorite bands. I got caught up in a thread about Ray Thomas leaving the Moody Blues and it did nothing but upset me.

I don't wish to think badly of any members of the band, and yet I read all sorts of nasty stuff about Justin Hayward, which made me very sad and angry at the same time.

I can't really imagine any fan really wanting to believe it. I want to believe that health reasons were what caused Ray Thomas to leave the band. Surely Ray knows that the fans love him regardless of how many songs he got to perform in concert.

I know, I for one, wish I had seen the band in concert when he was still touring with them. For My Lady is one of my favorite Moody Blues songs. I love his voice and his flute playing is incomparable.

I hate hate hate reading things like this. It's not anything I need to know. I don't want to read that Justin Hayward is a rat bastard. Perhaps a bit egotisical, but I don't want to think he's the Moody Blue Meanie that we dubbed him, after a certain event last August.

That thread really just spoiled my day. Can't I just think of the band as 3 guys that play music that brings joy to my life? Do I have to know about the band politics?

No, I don't.

But I thought I was going to be reading an update on Ray's health and not some fans slamming the rest of the guys in the band for trying to force Ray out.

Even if Justin really is a Moody Blue Meanie...I still love ya. (and Justin)

Top Five On Friday

This post could almost be titled, a post without any mention of the Moody Blues. OK, no I lie, because I could mention at least one member of the band in this post, but I'm not going to! Variety is the spice of life, and I'm sure everyone is heartily sick of hearing about The Moody Blues and looking at them, so therefore, it's MEME time!

This meme is brought to you by "ME!" and the rest of the gals at Music Memoirs

Top five songs with "Angels" in the title:

1. Elvis Costello - (The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes: Absolutely one of Elvis' most fun songs. I adore this one, even though I don't listen to it as often as I'd like.

2. Duran Duran - Like An Angel: The B-side to the My Own Way single, this is probably the guys best b-side.

3. Erasure - Angel: One of the million songs simply titled Angel, but when it's done by these two guys, it's special.

4. The Story - The Angel In The House: Jonatha Brooke and Co. kick butt. This is just a really beautiful song.

5. ABBA - Angel Eyes: Shut up! I like ABBA!

There you go. I could have added the songs The Angels Cry by Annie Haslam or Agnetha Faltskog from ABBA, that feature Justin Hayward....or even Nana Mouskouri's Morning Angel, which also features Justin Hayward, but I didn't.

Justin Hayward - Forever Autumn N' Trance

OK, I have the mp3s now.

The Dub mixes aren't worth posting but the two NTrance mixes are lovely. Similar, but lovely.

Forever Autumn - Mix 1

Forever Autumn - Mix 2

Let me know what you thought of them if you download. I was actually surprised that I enjoyed them.

Forever Autumn - Remixed

I'm all excited. I just found out that there was a remix album of War Of The Worlds, with Justin's Forever Autumn.

Big Squee! Little Squee! What begins with Squee?

erm...got a little too excited there.

There are 4 different remixes of the song on this album. I figure most fans know of this, but hey...for those of you that don't! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

As soon as I get my grubby little mits on them I'll post them here.

Until then...enjoy this lovely Justin picture.

A Conversation With John Lodge

This idea was mine originally, but Lady Starlight stole it last week...and I'm stealing it back.

Have you ever heard a song and just had to reply to the lyrics? (At least in your head?)

OK, it's probably a genetic defect in my sister and I, but at least be amused by the twisted workings of our brains.

The Lodgey song I'm talking back to?

Well, it's not Words You Say, because I did that one in October last year. Click here to read it.

Today, I'm talking back to Isn't Life Strange: My responses will be in italics

Isn't life strange
(well that's very observant of you Lodgey)
A turn of the page
Can read like before
Can we ask for more?
(Yes we can. We can ask for lots more)
Each day passes by
How hard man will try?
The sea will not wait

You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry -
(Aw don't cry Lodgey!)
Wished I could be in your heart
(Aw...you can)
To be one with your love
(I'm liking this idea of being one with Lodgey)
Wished I could be in your eyes
(In my eyes? Why?)
Looking back there you were, and here we are.

Isn't love strange
(That's a given Lodgey)
A word we arrange
(To suit our own purposes..yes)
With no thought or care
(Again...you are a genius for realizing that)
Maker of despair
(You're not going to cry again are you?)
Each breath that we breathe
With love we must weave
To make us as one
(Keep talking Lodgey, you've got me interested)
You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry
(Aw..please please please don't cry Lodgey)

Wished I could be in your heart
(You can Lodgey...honest, just don't cry anymore)
To be one with your love
(I'm ready willing and able to be one with your love)
Wished I could be in your eyes
(Why?)
Looking back there you were, and here we are.

Isn't life strange
(Most definitely)
A turn of the page
A book without light
(You're getting strange here Lodgey)
Unless with love we write;
To throw it away
(What are we throwing away?)
To lose just a day
The quicksand of time
You know it makes me want to cry, cry, cry -
(Please stop crying!!!)

Wished I could be in your heart
(We've been through this already)
To be one with your love
(I'm still waiting)
Wished I could be in your eyes
Looking back there you were:

And here is Lodgey!

And The Music Played...

From the Street Cafe

Clicky clicky to download this lovely song....

Hump Day Hunk

My hunks never ever ever take off their clothes. Which is a thousand times wrong. But in honor of this being HUMP day, I'm going to post my most sexy picture of John Lodge.

OK, it's a screen capture...from the video Street Cafe.

Image hosted by TinyPic.com

and actually..this is my favorite picture of John Lodge

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Now you can do a comparison...on how much weight I lost since that picture was taken in Nov of 2003 and the one below was taken Sunday afternoon.

Progress Report

For those of you that care...and those of you that don't, the scale is now down to 142. Only about 7 more pounds to the normalcy that I've been trying to achieve for about 2 years now.

When I reach that goal, I swear I'm going to treat myself to something special. I don't know what yet, maybe a facial or something.

I don't know if you can see any difference in this picture

Little ole moi. Posted by Hello

Of course, the hair is shorter now, but I think some of the rest of me is smaller. Exciting isn't it?

I'm just determined to wear my pink and black tankini on the beach in Jersey this summer. At the rate I'm going, I just may be able to do just that.

Video Captures!

We all know that I love love love, Yvonne's awesome site, full of wonderful Moody Blues clips. Go there...there's a clip of Legend of the Mind and it's really lovely!

But wait...I found another site of clips for your enjoyment---Because Moody love must be spread all around the universe.

Here is another awesome site, with video clips etc. I don't know who runs it, but I would love to thank them for sharing all their wonderful video files.

Guess who's going to be screen capturing for a very long time?

Yup! Me!

After all, we all need to see Justin and John sing with puppets!

Frustrations

I think this icon sums up how I feel today.

Gavin DeGraw

I discover music in strange ways. Yesterday I was perusing the communities on LiveJournal and someone recommended the song Chariot by Gavin DeGraw

Not a bad voice really. It's raspy and maybe just a little like Jamie Cullum's, for those of you familiar with him.

Not a bad looking guy either, except he obviously dresses himself, which is wrong.

His album, Chariot was released in 2003. It's a shame I only heard the one song yesterday, because he is definitely someone worth listening to.

Go ahead, listen to the song and decide for yourself.

Gavin DeGraw - Chariot

Random 10

The Random 10 is a new meme that sums up our weekend musically. If you want to do it, just go to Music Memoirs....read the instructions, play along and comment!

Three Dog Night - Mama Told Me Not To Come (This song was playing at Wheeling Island while we were there)
The Beatles - Money (Hey, if we didn't want it, we wouldn't have been at Wheeling Island)
Grey Eye Glances - Snow (Did someone not get the memo that snow stops in March?)
Justin Hayward - Learning The Game (Somehow I don't think Mr. H was talking about slot machines)
The Monkees - Gonna Buy Me A Dog (A Greyhound perhaps?)
Elvis Costello - Clean Money (Except when you put it in those casino cups that happened to have ABC gum in them...Ewwwwww)
Rob Thomas - Lonely No More (He doesn't want to have to pay for this? Neither no do I? I wonder if we can come up with a compromise.)
Nick Lowe - Freezing (Did I not mention it was snowing?)
Stereophonics - Everyday I Think Of Money (I feel the pain of this song!)
Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water (In honor of the suspension bridge in Wheeling)

It's all about Wheeling and gambling and money! Posted by Hello

Edit: I'll upload all 10 tracks to a zip file later.

Sunday is my fun day

I'm off to Wheeling Island again today, because there is nothing else to do and I need to get the heck out of my house.

Wheeling wasn't my first choice, but since it's snowing out, it will have to do.

Yes, you read that right, it's snowing!

What the hell is up with that?

It's April 24, for crying out loud! April!!! And I don't live in the Southern Hemisphere either! Though from the looks of it, I should! My brother sent pictures from his yard in Canton, OH where the snow was actually STICKING!!!
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

So in order to take my mind off that, I'm going to blow some money that I don't have in a casino. Because we all know that I don't win money. I don't win anything. In fact, if I did win money, I'd probably Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Wish me luck anyway. Cos like the song says: Money! That's what I want!

Walmart = Hell

I make a trip to Walmart about once every other week. I regret it every damn time. I know I've gone on and on about it before, but I just feel the need to scream some more about it, because today I made that bi-weekly trip.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I realize that of all the days to go to Walmart (which will from here on be referred to as hell), Saturday is not one of the best. I'm still trying to figure out which day is the best. (Besides the twelfth of never)

How a store as large as Hell can be so unbearably cramped is beyond me.

What's worse, is the sale racks.

Ever try to find a bargain in Walmart without getting

a. trampled
b. pushed to the ground
c. run over by a buggy, pushed by the fat lady from the circus

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I managed to come away unscathed and with a few dollars in my pocket. (small miracle)

I even found an outfit on the clearance rack!

Woohoo

In honor of Mr. Justin Hayward, the outfit I bought was about as pink as this smiley Pink

I don't care if it is pink! It's cute. And I got it without being mauled at Hell!

Do I get an award for that?

Getting some bad vibes

The concert vibes are not too good. I'm getting really nervous about my summer plans, especially since I'm getting conflicting information.

Let's discuss this being not very right. Not right at all.

One source says two shows at one city..the other says one.

Erm...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Granted the absence of one show saves me money, but it's the show I would have preferred seeing.

I really wish all my sources would get their information straight, so I knew how much money I needed to have in the bank in a few weeks.

Have I mentioned how much I hate not knowing what's going on?

Top Five On Friday

Time for another Music Memoirs meme!

Top five songs with a name in the title.

1. The Moody Blues - Emily's Song: This is a beautiful song written by John Lodge for his daughter. This is the studio version, but the live version that appears on the Red Rocks CD is just as gorgeous.

2. Duran Duran - Too Late Marlene: Not one of this band's better known tracks. It's off the album Big Thing. It's a slow one, but gorgeous.

3. The Beatles - Eleanor Rigby: Too leave this song off the list would be criminal. One of Paul McCartney's best.

4. Boingo - Mary: It's one of the songs from their final studio album and rather epic in length.

5. Elvis Costello - Georgie and her Rival: It's Elvis Costello! Nuff said.

Honorable mentions go to:

Justin Hayward - Billy: Just a gorgeous sad song. (And if you think this girl would post the song Marie..you've got to be out of your mind. PAH! To Marie the Hag Hayward!)

The Monkees - Valerie: It's fun!

Simon and Garfunkel - Cecilia: Another great fun song

Now that you've got the music, get up and dance! Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com

It's Playlist Time

I'm in a sharing mood again.

Here's my playlist

Here are the rules:

1. 5 songs at a time
2. If I've filled your request and there isn't a line of people waiting to have their requests filled, you can request five more.
3. Don't be too greedy.
4. Play nice.
5. There's no rule 5
6. Say thank you

Oh and one more thing, enjoy the music! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

New mix!

Yay for me! I made a new mix cd! Finally!

Click here to see the songs I selected.

Let me know what you think and if you'd like to hear any of the songs on the mix!

Allow me to have my dream

Everyone knows that I'm attempting to lose weight, right?

Right.

I posted a song over at Wenches last week, by the band The Story, which is fronted by the ever lovely Jonatha Brooke. The song is called Fatso, and it's hilarious.

Here are the lyrics I posted there

Fatso

This is the last time, this time I will win
It took a long time to gain this weight,
It will take a long time to lose it again
I will have only water for a week, then maybe carrots,
and celery, and if I lose then Sunday I'll have brown rice
Because someone will adore me when my ribs show clearly
and I'm thin even when I sit down
Someone will admire my gorgeous arms and legs
when I'm only one hundred pounds
I bought a doctor's scale on sale today
It takes up half the bathroom, and it's really ugly,
but I know it's going to help me reach my goal
I get so dizzy when I stand up fast, and I don't feel like
dancing but I know I'm gonna do it this time, for sure
Now I walk past the fatsos eating doughnuts,
with cream filling, icing, jimmies, and I am so glad I am not
like them
Because someone will adore me when my ribs show clearly
and I'm thin even when I sit down
Someone will admire my gorgeous arms and legs
when I'm only one hundred pounds
Last night I dreamed I ate a chocolate cake, and when I
woke up I was sure it was true so I weighed myself just to
make sure and drank a diet coke
I want to be skinny (Oh I am so hungry)

It just goes to show that when we want to do something like lose weight, we get these unrealistic thoughts in our minds of what's going to happen afterwards.

When I weigh 125 lbs someone is going to fall madly in love with me.

OK, 2 people are going to fall madly in love with me!

Image hosted by TinyPic.com

Yeah, right! But a girl has got to dream!

Then there's all the beautiful clothes I'm going to wear then. Clothes in size 2 or 4. Oye! That would be so wonderful. Hey! I was a size 2 once...I was 20 years old at the time, but I was a size 2!

See it's my goal to be as rail thin as Norda Mullen.

Norda's the dark haired one with the tambourine, the blonde is Bernie Barlow who is a goddess in her own right. I want to raid Norda's stage wardrobe, she had some gorgeous bustiers on the last tour and this fab fringe dress that would only look good on someone that weighed 2 lbs. (like her) I want that!!!!

All these wonderful things are going to happen as soon as these pounds fall off. Love...beautiful clothes...fun...

Right?

Right?

Yeah, I know they aren't. But let me dream, m'kay?

Oh and in case you missed the song over at Wenches, here it is again:

The Story - Fatso

Let me know what you think if you download it.

It's Only Tuesday?

I don't know why, but I feel like it should be further into the week than this. I'm a bundle of nerves and I don't really know why.

I could partially attribute it to the whole "concert ticket" thing. I wish to god I could afford to pay the astronomical prices for seats that are offered by ticket brokers and Ebay sellers.(Ok same smell, but you get my point)

I seriously think this is going to be my last year going to shows, unless it's someone really special, and frankly I can't think of anyone special enough anymore.

It's too darn expensive, not much fun, at least not for me, and such a huge hassel. I don't think my nerves or pocketbook can stand another year of this.

Still none of this explains why I feel like this week should be a bit more underway than it is.

Maybe it was because I slept in a bit today. That's what I get for staying up to watch Rob Thomas on Leno last night.

~sigh~

I think I need a nap. Which is not the thing to need, since I have to leave for work shortly.

Take Me Back Tuesday

OK, here's the weeks' first meme from Music Memoirs, and crikey it's a hard one. *cough* We must not let Fallen have too much time alone to think these things up.

The Year is 1974 --- So now you all know how old I am.

Name three songs from the year you were born.
Abba - Waterloo
Hollies - The Air That I Breathe
Paul McCartney and Wings - Helen Wheels

Name three artists who had hits the year you were born.
Terry Jacks - Seasons In The Sun (I had to use that one to torture Fallen)
Elton John - Bennie and the Jets (One of the many hits...I'm sure)
Ringo Starr - Your Sixteen

Name three artists born the same year you were born.
You know I did some searching on the net to do the meme, because it would take too long to look at all my CDs, and I couldn't find more than one artist (and I use that term loosely) born in 1974.

D'Angelo.

PAH.

Oh and I think Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice was born in 1974

Baker's Dozen --- Rob Thomas Is A Hottie

For those of you not familiar with this meme --- The idea is to come up with twelve thoughts and one pic to describe your weekend. Try using quotes, events, blog entries, whatever. Post a link to your entry when you're done.

1. Shopping at Dots for some new clothes
2. Garfield's makes yummy fried ravioli.
3. You don't need to lose more weight. (Laughs hysterically)
4. Jean Shrimpton? Who's Jean Shrimpton?
5. "It's a primrose!" ---- after hours of mom trying to remember the name of that flower.
6. Skipping down the walking path to The Moody Blues - Highway
7. Hagaan Daz low fat cherry fudge truffle ice cream -- tasty
8. Snarky Snarky Snarky!
9. Pondered a few mix cds..made none.
10. "Have we been transported to the other side of the state?" --- a large crew of Mennonites were having lunch/dinner at Wendy's.
11. Uploaded a bunch of music for various people in internet land.
12. Work on Saturday was semi-pleasant.

Trust These Guys?

Last September, John Lodge's son Kristian got married. A few of the wedding photos floated around the internet, many of them were scary. OK, a lot of them were scary.

This is one of the pictures:

Image hosted by TinyPic.com

I'm not sure I want either one of them near me with those cigars.

Or maybe I do....

Oops

Either way, they both look ornery as hell. (And dad looks pretty darn studly)

Trust em?

No way!

Angelic Voices

Ever hear someone sing and feel like you were transported to a cloud somewhere?

Just me?

I don't think so.

These are voices I can hear all the time and feel good and at peace.

1. Justin Hayward and John Lodge - The Moody Blues: Something about this guys. The music is so bittersweet for the most part. There's something gentle in the way these guys sing. I can't imagine Emily, Kristian or Doremi ever having a rough time sleeping. Dad would just have to sing a lullaby...and Zzzzz.

2. Michael Crawford: Music of the Night alone should attest to this man's vocal abilities. He did an album of Christain/Religious music not very long ago and that was enough to know that his voice was a gift from God or the Gods...or whatever higher power you might believe in. When he sings just about anything I shiver.

3. Jennifer Nobel - Grey Eye Glances: The first time I heard the song Snow, I knew I was in love with this band. I can't begin to describe how beautiful her voice is. She's not like so many of the other female vocalists out there ie. she doesn't squeak, but she still has a soft feminine voice.

4. Annie Haslam: The first song I ever heard her sing was The Angels Cry which was written by Justin Hayward. She's another woman with a fabulous voice, one I believe is very suited for Broadway.

Now, if you don't mind, I think I need to listen to a few of these angels...because I'm tired and in need for something soothing. But if you feel like it...why not let me know which artists you think have angelic voices.

The Beatles

What's there to say about the greatest band ever? Probably more than I can begin to fathom.

I can't remember if The Beatles were my first love or if it was The Monkees. Either way, the two bands were like one for me for the longest time. When everyone was listening to Michael Jackson's Thriller, I was listening to Beatles 65, the album I stole from my brother. (It still plays, even though my 5 year old grubby paws played it on the crappiest kids turntable ever made)

In 1987 when I bought my first CD player with the quarter rolls I saved for months and months and months. (with help of my father the quarter fairy) My first albums were The Monkees Then And Now and 2 Beatles CDs that were just being remastered for the wonderful new music format.

It seems so odd that a band that was gone 4 years before I was born should shape my life so much. All my life I've had a fascination with the 1960's, not just the music but the fashion and the culture of the time. I attribute that to the Beatles.

I've devoured so many books about the band and about John Lennon, that sometimes it feels like I lived through it too. I think that it was because of this, that when a little video for a song that showed a bunch of people dancing around in the gorgeous mod fashions, that I had to fall in love with that song too. I'm sure you know what song that was; Your Wildest Dreams by the Moody Blues.

It had nothing to do with the handsomeness of Justin Hayward...or even the song itself, which I do love more than I can express, it has to do with the Beatles.

At every point on my musical journey, to borrow words used much to often, by John Lodge, the Beatles have been there. Even now, as I'm trying to make a mix CD, I find myself going through my Beatles songs, and each of them hold a special meaning to me.

Yet so many people say they are the most overrated band ever. HA! Sure the time was ripe in the early 60's for a band from Britain to make it big, but only one could break through in a huge way and that was the Beatles. Maybe it could have been another one, maybe not.

I'd hate to think of what music would be like if they hadn't crossed the Atlantic. They made some of the best pure pop songs ever, songs that every age can enjoy. There's not much of that around now and I think that's a shame. There's no innocence to music. The Beatles had that and even now years later the music they created still has it.

In the late 80's Paul McCartney started to write with someone new. I remember hearing about it on Mtv then, and wondering who the f*ck this Elvis Costello was, that Paul was will to write songs with him. Thanks to Paul and the album Flowers In The Dirt, I bought the album Spike.

But back to Flowers In The Dirt. The first time I heard the song You Want Her Too. I envisioned Elvis and Paul vying for Linda's hand. Don't ask. It was my visual. A few of that albums songs, that were collaborations with EC disturbed me, simply because when I think of Paul singing a love song...I think of Linda. Weird. I know.

But do you see now, how this band has touched my life in so many ways. I can't call them insignificant or overrated, because if it weren't for their special mystique, I wouldn't have discovered other things. The Beatles, to me, were the cornerstone that music was built on.

And it all started with I'll Follow The Sun.

Thanks for the music guys...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Mere words can't describe how much the songs have meant to me.

Saved By The Music

I've pondered many times about how people can't be more open to more forms of music.

Now before you say, "But she only listens to the Moody Blues." Let me direct you to my guzzlefish page, which lists as many of the CDs in my collection that that site has.

Oh and that's not even half of them, because I have so many imports and out of print albums that guzzlefish doesn't list.

Sure I can't say I adore much of the music that's out there now, but there's good stuff out there if you look hard enough.

I'll admit to being baffled by the people that get absorbed in the musical stylings of all the pop tarts and boy bands out there, as well as the whole Divas scene.

I've always leaned more towards songwriting, rather than the latest trend. I do however love good pop music.

My musical taste is full of contradictions. Nothing makes sense, and what's worse, when I like one band, I usually end up picking up at least one other artist because of them.

Example:

Elvis Costello --- Nick Lowe*cough*Diana Krall*cough*

The Moody Blues --- Annie Haslam and Bernie Barlow

The funny thing about my ecclectic taste is that I very rarely stop liking a band. Everything ususally comes full circle. Which is what happened with Elvis Costello and The Moody Blues.

I loved both of them for a very brief time in the 80's, Mr. Costello more so. I think I wore out my first copy of Spike. (I loved and still love the song Satellite from that CD) But something wasn't quite right then, and the short obsession faded.

Odd things brought both of them back into my life

Now to share some of my musical loves with you.

Duran Duran - Nice

Justin Hayward - Skimming Stones

Susan Werner - St Mary's Of Regret

3 very different styles of music there. I hope some of you discovered something new from that. (Leave a comment if ya took something and enjoyed it, M'kay?)

Top Five On Friday

It's time for my Music Memoirs meme. Only this time, I got a little help from Lady Starlight.

Top five songs with names of "flowers" in the title.Flower

OK, I'm going to do this with a single flower..."Roses" Roses

1. Elvis Costello & the Attractions - Good Year For The Roses

2. Nick Lowe and His Cowboy Outfit - The Rose Of England

3. The Damned - New Rose

4. Michael Ball - The Rose (I wish I had Bette Midler's original on this computer, but sadly I don't)

5. Nik Kershaw - Roses

These are some of the more ecclectic "rose" songs. Hope you enjoy them

Moodies In Australia

Boy do I wish I were down under. (erm..keep those dirty thoughts to yourself...no matter how true they are)

They were on a morning show there.

How nice! I know Justin did a rather impromptu appearance on the Today Show or one of those shows back in 2003, but wouldn't it be great if the whole band did an appearance in the US, where they make all their money?

Grrrr

Anyway...it's time for screen shots!

Because prettyful pictures of prettyful men make me happy.

Not the most flattering picture of Lodgey, but I'll attribute it to bad lighting and maybe just maybe Lodgey isn't a morning person.

Feeling Moody

There's still almost a month before tickets to my concerts (For those Moody Men) go on sale. I hate waiting!!!! Hate it! Hate it! Hate it!

I want to make plans and reservations. I want to order my trip tick from Triple A. I want to know if I'm going to Longwood on the Sunday after the concert!

I don't want to wait anymore!!!

Very Angry

And then there's the matter that I don't know when the Elvis Costello tickets go on sale.

Very Angry

I at least know how much those cost. A whopping 60 bucks a piece! I have no idea what the Moody Blues tickets will cost, but I'm thinking they'll be a bit more. Probably about 80. Yay! Take all my money why don't ya?

Maybe I shouldn't encourage them.

But damn it, I want to have my tickets now!

Fanmix

OK, I found this community over at Live Journal, and it's totally interesting.

Its a community where you make a mix based on the characters from a tv show or movie .

Click here for a better description of what its about.

There was a time when doing something like that would have been so easy. I used to watch a lot of tv and I even went to the movies quite a bit.

Hell, I think the last movie I saw was Lemony Snicket back in December. How sad is that? And the only tv show I really watch is Law & Order and that's not with any great frequency.

I think the last show I "really" watched was Coupling on BBC America. So if I was going to do a mix, it would have to be for Jeff from that series, simply because he was so mixworthy.

This site makes me want to watch the telly though, cos there are some good mixes posted there.

OK, almost. Because I generally believe 99.9% of all tv is crap.

Edit: Oh...looks like you can do mixes based on musicals and books. (This could be more interesting than I thought)

Guess who is coming to Pittsburgh.

Guess who is coming to Pittsburgh on a Sunday evening so I don't have to take time off work?

What you can't guess?

I'll give you a hint.

I'm Moody and Grey, I'm Mean and Restless

Note to self: must thank Simon Le Bon for those lyrics.

All good things come to an end, and usually much to quickly. I had a fantabulous time this weekend. Well at least on Saturday. Pittsburgh was gorgeous, which is a rare thing indeed. The sun was shining brightly and fun was had by all.

We ate at two of my favorite spots, Primantis and Quadoba, discovered the joys of bubble tea and then drank a bit. Mmmm amaretto sours and coconut kisses. I even bought a glass to go with my coconut kiss. He's a Suffering Bastard.

Hey! That's the name of the glass! I didn't name it! The Tiki Lounge people did!

I even found a cool consignment shop in the South Side, called Divas! Got an uber cute skirt and tank top there

The problem is this: Saturday was so damn good, that the rest of the weekend just fell flat!

That's just wrong. And today it's back to the part time job. 6 days of work again this week. Next weekend I promised the parental units that I'd spend time with them, which means I'm likely not going anywhere fun.

I need more days like Saturday and they are so few and far between. When they come they are wonderful and then I experience the let down that's something like post concert depression.

And let me tell you that sucks. It makes me cranky and miserable too.

I was a good girl yesterday

A really good girl, spending wise.

I was in two shops that had Moody Blues stuff yesterday and I didn't bring any of it home.

I think hell froze over!

No.

Actually it was a case of "I don't want to carry loads of vinyl around."

See, there's this great record shop on Carson Street. Dave's Music Mine, I think it was called, and they have a basement full of vinyl. Every Moody album except The Other Side of Life was there in it's vinyl form.

I didn't bring a single one home.

Talk about willpower.

I wanted too, mind you. I was coveting the "This Is The Moody Blues" double album, just because there were so many pictures to drool on...erm...admire, but I said no.

There was a vintage backstage pass from the Long Distance Voyager Tour too. I passed on that, mostly because it would just be added clutter, albeit cool clutter.
